JULY 2015 JULY 2015 Newsletter of Lincoln Bowmen

Tough Man Shoot - This year’s Tough Man 3D shoot was loads of fun. A first this

year was the flying pig target shot from the broad pit shooting platform. It was

great fun just watching all of the shooters trying their luck at a moving target and

listening to all the laughs from everyone as their arrows flew over, under or behind

the pig with wings. Jim McGinnis, Ben Phillips, Scott Jackson and a host of club

members setup one of the most interesting and fun courses that have been held at

the club in recent years. I’m told that this isn’t the last time that the pig with wings

will be setup this year.

Summer League - The summer league is heading into the second half of the season.

The race for first place is very tight, with only three points separating first from

sixth place. The league banquet will be held on Saturday, August.22nd. If you plan on bringing a guest I

need to know so I can place the order for the steaks. Contact me or write your name and the number of

guests on the sheet posted by the score card box at the club.

Cement Project - Mike Schmer has informed me that the project of laying a cement slab near the storage

trailers is still a go and should start sometime near the end of August. Help is needed for this job so please

contact me or Mike for more information about helping.

General Membership Meeting - The General Membership meeting held in the month of September is the time

when new Board of Directors are voted in. I have been informed that several of the Directors that are now in

office will not be seeking reelection. If you are interested in running for a position on the Board, let me or

any director know.

Presidents Corner - Larry McNew

Message from the Board Angel Elliott - Registration for the 2015 - 2016 Youth Archer Program

(YAP) will be on Saturday, September 26th at 10AM and 11AM. All

r e t u r n i n g s t u d e n t s s h o u l d e m a i l N i c k A d a m s

([email protected] ) to confirm their return. All new

students should also email Nick Adams to request a class assignment.

Registration times will be assigned and confirmed via email closer to

the date. Anyone with new equipment will need to bring it to

registration for inspection. Anyone needing equipment assigned to

them will be set up at registration. The first day of class for shooting

will be Saturday October 3, 2015.

Jim McGinnis - First thing first! Don’t forget to put in for your doe permit and your fall turkey permit.

You only have until August 1st.

On the back course we are putting a second set of stairs on tree stand targets 3 and 4, also on 27 and 28.

This should speed up our 3D shoots. I hope to have this completed within a few weeks.

I would like to thank all the members that showed up to set up the Tough Man shoot. It was the biggest turn

out for a Saturday work party that I've seen in a long time. Everybody that I personally asked showed .

THANKS SO VERY MUCH! It seamed everybody that shot the Tough Man shoot had a great time .We had a

flying pig, a double sided boar, well there were 2 to look like one, ask Ben Philips about it .We had a iron

buck .It was worth a bonus 20 points or if you really needed points you could shoot through the eye . That

was worth a bonus 50. Ask Bill Howell or Lee Green how that went! We also had an iron bear for 20 points

or Boo Boo for score. We had a buck for score or an apple for bonus 20 at 48 yards .Craig Vogues had a

sapling jump out in front of the apple. Didn’t see that coming! I myself had a fence jump in front of a buck

that I was trying to shoot. Thanks Ben! It was a challenging course to say the least. It sounded like

everybody was looking forward to next years shoot .AGAIN THANKS TO ALL THAT HELPED I OWE YOU

GUYS ONE!

3D shoots at Lincoln Bowmen are a great way to introduce new archers to our club. Multiple 3D shoots are

held each year from January through September. Archers shoot at a variety of 30 3D targets and the cost is

only $10.00 per shooter. Registration runs from 9AM through 1PM. For more information and shoot re-

sults, click on 3D Shoots to visit our Website. Contact Scott Jackson for more information.

Have you ever said to yourself “How will I ever manage to get 10 work hours this year? My schedule is soooo

full and there just aren't enough hours in the day!” See below for opportunities to earn work hours.

Work Parties - Karl Keesee, our Vice President, coordinates a work party on

Saturdays and can certainly give a member plenty of work to do.

Club Events - special Club event such as the Wild Game Dinner can only be

successful with member assistance and participation.

Help is needed on our next Poker Room Fund raiser in August 13-16.

Contact Scott Rhind.

Club Cleaning - All Board members volunteer to do the cleaning inside the club

house. They would love to have help keeping the restrooms clean, the range swept,

tables and kitchen cleaned, trash emptied, etc. See the BOD Club Cleaning list below.
