NEWS LETTER
OCT 2009
Welcome
Welcome to the Oct 2009 issue of the United Consultants Immigration Update. Our goal is to
provide you with timely information relating to immigration issues.
CANADA MAY DECREASE IMMIGRATION NUMBERS
If you have been contemplating immigration to Canada, you would be wise to submityour application as soon as possible. Canadian Immigration Minister Jason Kenneyhas announced that Canada is considering reducing its immigration targets for 2009.
At the present time, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Canada (CIMC)
plans to maintain its 2009 immigration numbers of between 240,000 to 265,000 newPermanent Residents. This makes it one of the only developed nations that has notcontracted its immigration plans in the face of current global economic turmoil.
The Immigration Minister has the authority to make changes to the immigrationselection system without any advance warning.
If you would like to immigrate to Canada, you should take the Immigration Ministerswords seriously. Now is the time to submit your Canadian immigration application. After the Immigration Ministers meeting at the end of March, it may become moredifficult for you to qualify or it may take your longer to realize your plans to comelive and work in Canada.
RECESSION NOT EFFECTING CANADA
Quoted by our Prime Minister Stephen Harper, We have no plans in Canada, nor arewe under pressure, to reduce immigration in any way during the recession".
Instead of pulling the plug on businesses Canada is doing the exact opposite. Due tothe uproar of the recession that came upon this country many businesses have beenlaying off employees and filing for bankruptcy. Immigration remains strong forCanada, and this country is in great need for foreign workers. British Columbia andAlberta alone are determined to let in approximately 600,000 foreign workers in thenext five years. To make Canada's economy stronger relies mainly on the labor force
and the amount of immigrants being accepted for this purpose.
For reasons such as the gross slump in the worldwide economic industry Canada'sImmigration Minister, Jason Keney has full authority to alter any immigrationlegislation to best answer to the Canada's labor market. Under this need for skilledworkers, a list has been created of thirty-eight qualifying occupations that aretargeted which will make it easier to be accepted under this category.

Subject to the new and growing legislations it is crucial for those wanting to apply fora skilled worker to apply as soon as possible. Because of the new governmentregulations it might be harder to apply as such if procrastinated.
CANADA IMMIGRATION OPPORTUNITIES
Canada is one of the most desirable destinations for visitors and immigrants fromaround the world. It is a country of vast geography, multi-cultural population, andabundant natural resources in a clean environment and accessible and generouspublicly funded health and social services.
The allure of Canada has recently become even stronger, as countries such as theUnited Kingdom and the United States attempt to reform their immigration laws, resulting not only in uncertainty but also in new regulations limiting migrants accessto those countries.
It is no secret that Canadas economy is among the strongest in the world. Driven inlarge part by increasing international demands for its natural resources, employers inmany sectors of the Canadian economy are finding a shortage of workers.
Canada has never set annual limits on the number of immigration applications thatcan be submitted. Current immigration law requires the Canadian government toprocess every immigration application it receives. In fact, Canada with a totalpopulation of about 33 million, accepts around 250,000 immigrants each year.
The life that immigrants can achieve in Canada is the envy of many around theworld. Your dreams of Canada could become a reality sooner than you think now.
INSTRUCTIONS ON PROCESSING FEDERAL SKILLED WORKERS
APPLICATIONSBY MINISTER KENNEY:
Minister Kenney also announced another step in measures to improve the
