Principal’s Report
New Shade Sails
After storm damage in 2013, we are proud to present our brand new and impressive shade sails. With financial assistance from Year 6, 2014, the school was able to purchase and install 3 new sails over the weekend. Year 6, through the successful
Mini Fete held last year, was able to donate over $5,000 towards this significant project. What a great addition to the school!
Tell Them From Me
This week students in Years 4,5 and 6 were given a note about participation in an online anonymous survey about student wellbeing, engagement and effective teaching practices. More information is listed later in this newsletter. This is a fantastic opportunity. Staff and parent surveys will be available in term three this year.

Banking
Wow! 58 depositors today deposited over $700 which is almost double last week. With the bank matching 5% of that as a donation to the school we should have a nice amount at the end of the year. We are recruiting coordinators - have a look at the banking page on the P&C website for more info and let us know if you would like to join us on Tuesday mornings to help count the money.
Welcome Disco Success
A massive thanks to all the students and families that supported our first Disco and BBQ of the year last Friday. Special thanks to Karen and her parent brigade for organising a wonderful event, and to Katie and Dance2Be-Fit for the great music and dancing. We look forward to the next disco next term.
Ethics Class:
Parent volunteer needed
Ethics classes are currently only available to years 1-6 because we do not have a volunteer teacher available to teach Kindergarten. We would love to be able to offer this opportunity to Kindergarten students as well. Volunteer Ethics Teachers are fully trained and supported by Primary Ethics to deliver an age-appropriate DET approved curriculum every week and are provided with accompany-ing learning and teaching materials. It is a fantastic way to work with our school and interact with students in a meaningful way. The classes are held mid morning on Thursdays. So, if you are free on Thursdays, enjoy discussing ethics related issues and might be interested in becoming a volunteer ethics teacher, please contact Julie Noonan, our volunteer parent ethics coordinator at [email protected] or go to www.primaryethics.com.au and click on the link ‘Become an ethics teacher’ to find our more.
The Tell Them From Me
student feedback survey
I am delighted that this term, our school, like many others in the state, will participate in a Department of Education and Communities initiative: the Tell Them From Me student feedback survey. The survey aims to help improve student learning outcomes and measures factors that are known to affect academic achievement and other student outcomes. The focus of the NSW-wide survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and effective teaching practices. More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide our school with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. Schools in Australia and around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help improve how they do things at school. I want to assure you that the survey is confidential and school staff will not be able to identify individual students from their responses. The survey is conducted online and will typically take less than 30 minutes to complete. It will be administered during school hours between 9 March and 2 April. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary. A consent form and FAQs for parents/carers about the
survey is being sent home with students. If you do not
want your child or children to participate, please return the
form to school by Friday 6 March. Copies of the form and
FAQs are available from the website above.

Sports Stars
Congratulations to Chase D., Matthew G. and Dennis H. for making it into the Zone AFL Team. The boys will now trial against students from Sydney Coastal to make the Married Zone Team. Chase also found time this week to make it into the Zone
Tennis Team, along with Nicola I. Both Chase and Nicola will
compete at the upcoming Sydney East Championships.
Touch Football
Chase D and Dennis H competed in their second NSW State Cup for Touch Football for the U12 Easts Rep side. The conditions were very wet and muddy in Port Mac-quarie and unfortunately the event was abandoned on the last day due to the soaked conditions - but a lot of muddy fun was had by the boys!
Oz Tag
Congratulations to Ethan F. for his selection to play in the Regional Oz Tag Championship at Coffs Harbour, on February 13-15 2015. Through 8 gruelling games over 3 days, Ethan’s team was undefeated and took out the championship. In addition, Ethan is selected to represent NSW and compete at the upcoming NSW Junior State Oz Tag Competition. We wish Ethan all the best.
