The demographic bulge in

India can only be

converted to the dividend

with skill development.

Even as 64% of the India’s

population is considered

to be in working age

group, of this the average

age of an Indian will be 29

years by 2020. Further it

is estimated that labour

force globally shall decline

by 4% in India, it will

increase by 32%. This

bulge, can be converted to

dividend by skill development and harnessing the

dividend into the growth of the country.

It is foregone conclusion that Skill and knowledge are the

driving forces of economic and social development of any

country. The challenge is not merely of preparing more

skilled manpower, but also of ensuring employable skills

with the view to fill the skill gaps in the industry, whether

manufacturing, or service. While there is shortage of

skilled manpower in a number of sectors, in Domestic

Workers Sector, it is more so. As such concerted effort to

develop skills in this sector is inescapable. While India

plans to skill 500 million by 2022, Domestic workers

sector skill council has a mission of training 25 million in

this sector by 2025. DWSSC is systematically and in

sustained manner developing the very scaffolding on

which our mission shall be achieved. The scaffolding

includes the Training Partners, Assessment Bodies &

certification of trainers and assessors with a view to build

a strong, sustainable, maintainable & a lasting structure.

Towards this end, our association with B-ABLE has assisted

us in establishment during the formative years of our

growth. Further the DomesteQ has gone a long way to

place the certified beneficiaries and enabled many a

training partners to achieve their targets for placement.

In the near future, we are envisioning more intimate

relationship between both our organisations for a

comprehensive project implementation to Mobilise,

Train, & Certify the existing workforce in Domestic

Sector.

Homeless Women are now Earners:

Our DomesteQ Wing has done a commendable job by

providing training to Homeless Women. Less than 1 percent

of the workforce is formally trained and about 80–85 percent

workers are unskilled labour.

In order to give equal rights and opportunities to the most

vulnerable community from the society,

BASIX Academy for building lifelong employability (B-ABLE)

partnered with the Association for Rural and Urban Needy

(ARUN), to provide skill training and placement to Homeless

Women staying under the shelter of ARUN. Trainees are now

got placed and earning their livelihood.

B-ABLE Participated in Rally Organized by NDWM in Goa

On the occasion of Labour Day, National Domestic Worker

Movement organized an event for the awareness and rights of

Domestic Workers in Goa. B-ABLE also participated in Rally

Organized by NDWM where 400 Domestic Workers participated

for their rights. Ms. Kriti Bhalla, Project Head-DomesteQ

represented B-ABLE in the event. She spoke about placement

opportunities, need for documentation of placement and growth

of domestic workers. A rally of domestic workers was also

organised to create awareness among the domestic workers.

various Ministries, States, industry and other

stakeholders will be established through the govt. policy

crucial role in the skill development ecosystem in India.

Their job is to ensure that the training is relevant to

industry needs and it is aligned with the national skill

development policy within the given qualification

framework. In addition, considerable thrust has been put

in preparing the youth for self-employment and

entrepreneurship. Hence, SSCs are tasked with

developing a robust training delivery mechanism that

follows international standards and quality parameters.

In compliance with the specific provision of the National

Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship 2015,

of mainstreaming ‘Persons with Disability’(PwD)

through skill training under the ‘Skill India Mission’ to

enable them to earn a livelihood and lead a life of dignity

in the mainstream society and contribute to India’s

growing economy.

SCPwD is committed to create a robust & vibrant

ecosystem for quality skill training aligned appropriately

to meet the diverse needs of skill development for

Persons with Disability in the country because every

human being though born different, each has the ability to

dream and disability is not a barrier to achieve their

goals. We aspire for a successful endeavor for PwD by

addressing the skilling gap, providing right tools and

work environment to effectively perform their jobs.

SCPwD is now poised for future growth, driven by a

interest towards school studies. Students are very

excited to go for vocational education and practical

classes as these are very interactive with lot of

activities. After undergoing 4 years of professional

education, students are becoming more confident

towards their career showcasing a positive attitude

towards their life. The fact of becoming

economically independent and supporting their

families as well as taking their own decision of

further studies make them more confident.

Most of the students do come from under privileged

families and earning a salary of Rs. 10/12 thousand

just after class 12 is really unbelievable for them.

For this kind of families this is not only an

economical blessing but this has helped in social

reformation like : Sending them to schools/colleges

regularly, Restricting them from getting married,

Allowing them for job, Girls getting a socio-

economical platform .

Students are really interested for these courses as

these are different from the conventional subjects

which they are studying from their childhood. These

are scoring subjects which are elevating their

aggregates especially in higher secondary level and

apart from that they are very interested to go for

Industry Visit, attend Guest Lecture and doing OJTs

which is obviously a new things for them.

As a Head of the institution, I think Government has

taken a great initiative through this NSQF Project

considering the current employment situation in our

getting employment.

With very few loop holes , this project is doing

pretty well. Our Training Partner B-ABLE is

supporting us with everything and co-ordinator

Bikash Pandey is guiding our trainers in every

possible way to overcome the problems and making

the operation smoother.

We have the

We consider this as a

SHRAWAN SINGH - Domestic Electrician - ELSTP

Shrawan Singh 25 years, completed ‘Domestic

Electrician’ training from Beawar Centre under the

ELSTP scheme and soon after which got placed as a

‘Machine Operator’ with a monthly salary of Rs 10,000/-.

Never did he think that he, who after class VIII was

leading a directionless life would ever be able to achieve

this feet in life. It all happened when his father heard of

the training course being conducted by B-ABLE in

collaboration with the Rajasthan Government managed

to convince his son to join the course. Very reluctantly

Shrawan did so but it wasn’t long that he began to show

interest in all that was being taught in class and the

practical sessions. Along with the technical knowledge,

Shrawan also learnt the basics of work ethics, good

grooming, discipline etc that changed his thought

process and developed a positive approach to life.

Looking back, Shrawan expresses his gratitude to B-

ABLE and the Rajasthan Government for giving him the

training that transformed his life. He feels happy to be a

son of a proud father who says, “ never did I imagine that

my awara beta will earn Rs 10,000/ every month.I am

very proud of him “.

B-ABLE wishes Shrawan great success in life.

MOHAMAD Shadab - Retail - Reliance CSR

Mohamad Shadab,

son of a small time

tailor had great

aspirations to do

well in life and raise

the living standard

of his family.

Unfortunately, the

financial constraints

and lack of direction

were not in his

favour and he was

left to while away

his time with other

young boys doing

nothing. One day

Shadab chanced

upon a pamphlet,

informing him about the Retail training. What attracted

him most was the training was free of cost. Shadab

wasted no time and joined the training course and there

was no looking back for him.Today he is working with

‘Reliance Trends’ and gets a monthly salary of Rs8400/-

in hand. He feels very proud that with his earnings he

can support the family and also independently take care

of his personal expenses. With a smile on his face Shadab

says “This training is the best thing that happened to me.

The same people who would rebuke me and would look

at me as good for nothing, now respect me and feel

happy that one among them is on the path to success”.

Shadab now has a goal to continue doing his best and

grow to the level of ‘department Manager’. Our best

wishes to Shadab for achieving success in his future

endeavours.
