Pray for our team as we head to Guatemala the last weeks of June to share the Gospel and be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Our youth mission team, comprised of 19 students and 3 leaders, will be in Guatemala June 22—28. Please pray for success in ministry, souls to be saved, safe travel, receptive hearts and ears, team unity, growth in the participants, and lives to be impacted by our group.

The “Bin” Schedule

Collection bins are available at the East and West entrances as an opportunity to help with ongoing ministries. Here’s the current rotation:

Any Weekend: Jesus on Colfax, serves those who are living in motels on E. Colfax. Bring McDonald’s, Panda Express and grocery gift cards and / or cash to the mini-bin located at the Outreach Center in the Lobby.

Any weekend: Refuge Laundry Kits, quarters, laundry pods, dryer sheets. Drop off at the PEAK information desk or set up a collection time with Kelly Vath: [email protected]. 1st weekend: Growing Home, serves homeless families or those at risk of becoming homeless. Bring non-perishable food items, diapers, etc. to be distributed through their food pantry. It’s generally our Communion weekend, so let that be your monthly reminder to bring food for others, as we receive God’s special nourishment.

2nd weekend: Breaking Free ,

sponsored by our Youth, addresses the needs of those living on the streets. Bring new socks for men, individually packaged snacks, winter gloves, hats, disposable water bottles, deodorant, bungee cords.

3rd weekend: The Refuge, a Broomfield ministry that serves those struggling economically, including single moms and homeless individuals. Bring tissues, toiletries, baby supplies (diapers/wipes/food, formula), general (soap/shampoo) and feminine hygiene products, laundry detergent, dish soap.

Storage space is limited at our church; thank you for adhering to this schedule AND for your

ongoing generosity.

Dear Family in Christ Church,

We can’t thank you enough for your help for our Single Moms Mother’s Day Party on May 11th. You stepped in and made so much goodness happen for the moms. The food was incredible, the goodie bags were wonderful, and the extra help from Kokeeta and

Tonya was a sweet gift for sure! Hopefully they can share more with you about their experience and give you a glimpse into this amazing group of moms and the connections and hope that happens there.

This party is an annual event to wrap up our semester, and we’d sure love for you to be part again if you’d like to! (Always Mother’s Day weekend). Also, I’ll be sharing with Kokeeta and Tonya more about the 2019-20 Semester which starts in the Fall and maybe some other ways you all can support these moms and kids! We meet once a month on a Saturday morning, and we are always looking for ways to strengthen the infrastructure of support and encouragement for these moms so that they don’t have to worry about food, childcare, and have a network to turn to for practical needs.

Again, thank you, especially for pulling it all together so fast! When the body of Christ works together, it’s a beautiful thing, and we really are better together.

Peace, Kathy Escobar The Refuge

The Refuge is a local ministry in Broomfield that serves single moms, those who are homeless and/or on the margin, trying to make ends meet.

Doing Life Together Life Group Ministry Morgan Kellum

It's summer! And around the Kellum house, that means we have our evenings a little more free and fun. That also means that we are starting up our Wednesday Night Sweet Treats. Last year, we discovered just how easy and fun it was to have friends and neighbors mingling and making connections on our back deck. And delicious -- you can't beat homemade desserts and decadent treats! We are intentionally setting aside Wednesday nights again this summer to allow those organic relationships a place to grow and deepen. Starting Wednesday, June 19 from 6 to 8 pm, you can find us in the backyard, serving yummies and enjoying new and old friendships. Guess what? You're invited...not just to join us, but to have your own neighborhood meet-up. Pick a time of week (maybe Saturday mornings work for you), choose a food/beverage (seems like coffee and donuts would be a hit) and start inviting folks you know (we make postcards, post on social media, text friends and make personal invitations). It's that easy. Maybe you'll have a crowd or maybe you'll have two; the goal isn't quantity, it's quality time and quality connections. So pray about it and then get on it -- and then watch God at work. I'd love to hear about your summer connections. Email [email protected] with highlights or questions.

Come As You Are

Tuesdays - anytime between 4 & 6 pm Prayer is so much more than talking to or with God. It is all about the relationship. If you think about the relationships in your own life, you know the more time you invest in them, the more meaningful they become. There’s no right or wrong way to pray; God just wants you to simply come. Each Tuesday, the Sanctuary is open for you to come, just as you are, and spend special time with God.

Book Club News The book club will meet Monday, June 17 at 7:00 pm at Family in Christ Church. Please bring any special extra book that you have enjoyed over the last 12 months. Our July 15 meeting will be a trip downtown on the B line to stop at the Cheesecake Factory and the Tattered Cover. For August, be reading "East of Eden " by John Steinbeck. All are welcome.

Holy Yoga Sundays, 8:30 to 9:30 am — Activity Room Mondays, 6:30 to 7:30 pm — Activity Room

During the summer months, the Holy Yoga class will be taking a closer look at the Psalms of Ascent from Psalms 120-134. Originally these psalms were sung by worshipers as they made their way to the annual feasts in Jerusalem. The Psalms of Ascent still speak to us today. Like them, we are on a journey of "constant growth, sacrifice, and trusting God for what we cannot see." (Shereadstruth.com) Eugene Peterson wrote that we are pilgrims, but we are also disciples — always moving and always learning. We will use the devotionals to help us understand these psalms from Shereadstruth.com, Beth Moore's study Stepping Up, and Eugene Peterson's book, A Long Obedience in the Same Direction.

During the summer months starting June 16, we will offer a Holy Yoga 101 class on Sunday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30. This 101 class will be a beginner class with a simpler devotional; Monday night will be an extension on the same Psalm with a deeper study and a more advanced yoga class. We hope you can make it to both! We also hope that you stick around for worship after class on Sunday mornings; yoga attire is perfectly acceptable there, too!

ADVENTURE GOLF NIGHT: Friday, August 2; meet at 6:45 pm Group rate: $7.50 (13+) and $6 for kids (4-12) for 36 holes (2 courses)

Please RSVP with Besslers ([email protected]) by July 31.
