There are 6 billion mobile subscriptions globally, & 1 billion smartphones in use The first number is from the ITU (note that many people have more than one phone so this is not 6 billion people with mobiles), and the second comes from Strategy Analytics who estimate that by the end of Q3 2012 there were 1.038 billion smartphones in use Source: Press releases from ITU (11th October) & Strategy Analytics (17th October 2012)5
  • 5. Google is activating 1.3m Android devices a day Google has revealed that it is activating 1.3 million Android devices a day, up from 1 million a day in June. In September the install base was 480m users, so it must be over 500 million by now6 Source: Gizmodo, 6th September 2012

Smartphones influence 6% of UK in-store purchases Almost half of the UKs smartphone users have used their phones to research product information before or during a shopping visit, which means that smartphones influence 6%, or over 15 billion in UK sales.   • 9. Mobile accounts for 18% of Dominos Pizzas UK digital sales Dominos Pizza are pioneers in digital media, as early adopters technology like a mobile apps and QR code.   • 16. The FT has more digital subscribers than newspaper buyers The Financial Times parent company Pearson revealed that the paper had more than 300,000 digital subscribers, but its print circulation had fallen to 297,000 copies17 Source: Brand Republic, 27th July 2012

In just 4 months EL James became the best selling author ever on Amazon UK EL James Fifty Shades trilogy has made her the best selling author of all time on Amazon UK; yes, shes sold even more than JK Rowling.
