It gives me great pleasure to introduce the inaugural edition of Nigel Frank International’s ‘Microsoft Technology for Business’ salary survey report encompassing SharePoint, Skype for Business (Lync), Office365, Microsoft BI and Azure.

This unique piece of research has been launched to give an insight on salaries, benefits and bonuses, trends, sentiments and motivations across the worldwide ‘Microsoft Technology for Business’ Partner, ISV and Microsoft Customer (“End User”) communities.

Data utilized in this report incorporates survey results collected between March 1st 2015 and April 27th 2015, actual ‘Microsoft Technology for Business’ placements made by Nigel Frank International from 1st January 2015 to April 27th 2015 and salaries from jobs registered by Nigel Frank customers.

The results will be unveiled in May 2015 at Microsoft’s Ignite conference in Chicago.

This 2015 report is a result of the analysis of 7,816 data points, collected via the following sources:

Global Data Source and Validation Techniques

The global salary survey information consists of 7,816 data points and was voluntarily self-reported by a total of 3,551 ‘Microsoft Technology for Business’ professionals spanning a wide range of job titles, industries, Microsoft technologies and geographic locations from 130 countries.

In addition, we examined the actual salary and remuneration information from 952 permanent and freelance placements made by Nigel Frank International between 1st of January and 27th April 2015 as well as salary information from 3,313 unique jobs registered on the Nigel Frank jobs database.

Each survey response has been validated using robust statistical analysis automated data validation rules in order to be included in the results set.

Any data profiles that do not pass our validation rules and statistical analysis, or are deemed questionable, incomplete, or duplicate were removed in order to provide meaningful results.

Our internal teams have verified each Nigel Frank placement data point to ensure 100% accuracy with respect to base salary, bonuses, benefits, employer type, seniority, job title, technology and location.

No data has been artificially aged, nor have any results been extrapolated based on general inflation adjustments, or general wage increase trends.

For the purpose of the survey, we will refer to all ‘data points’ as respondents.

Globally 15.6% of respondents were female, with the highest percentage recorded in the US (25%), followed by France (17%) and UK (10.7%).

52% of respondents worked for Microsoft Partners as compared to 43.7% from the Microsoft End User community and only 4.3% from ISVs.

Industry Sector Breakdown

Majority of salary survey respondents indicated IT as their main industry, followed by Manufacturing, Professional services and Retail.

Microsoft Certification

50.2% of survey respondents were certified. Unsurprisingly, most of the certified respondents (34%) worked for a Partner; and only 2.1% for an ISV.

Microsoft professionals that took the survey worked with all technologies within ‘Microsoft Technology for Business’ with majority working with SharePoint (31.2%), Office 365 (25.7%), Microsoft Lync (21.1%) and Microsoft BI (12.4%). As Azure is a relatively new product, only 9.6% of people indicated that they worked with this technology.
