Notes:

- Reports are required any time a vehicle/company is dispatched, regardless if they actually respond or not.

- Most required fields are highlighted in yellow. However, there are some fields that are not highlighted, but still are required. Those will be addressed throughout this training.

- Always remember to double check your codes, even after you have chosen from drop down menu’s, some codes automatically change after you choose them.

- Any red tab at the top means something on the page is incomplete. - If you are attempting to complete a NFIRS for an EMS call and M251 has not yet cleared, some

info you enter prior to them clearing may be deleted. It may be best to wait until the medic has cleared the call to start the NFIRS.

- Always obtain a minimum of a name, phone number, D.O.B. and address of anyone involved in the incident.

- Calls involving MVC’s, be sure the vehicle information is obtained. Vehicle make/model, year, license plate etc.

Logging In

Log in info should be the same you use to log into the computer.

Example:

User Name: smacaluso

Password: ********** (your computer log in password)

STARTING YOUR REPORT:

You have two options to find and open your report.

1. Select incident icon at the top left.

2. Select the journal icon at the top right.

If you do choose to search by using the Incident icon, Select the ‘Browse’ button to select from the list of incidents.(see following slide)

Make sure you are on the correct date, from the list on the right, choose your call by double clicking.

BASIC TABPLEASE ENSURE TO COMPLETE ALL FIELDS HIGHLIGHTED YELLOW AS WELL AS OTHER

REQUIRED SECTIONS. THIS TAB CONTAINS INCIDENT ADDRESS, CALL TYPE, SHIFT, ALARM

TYPE AND OTHER BASIC SCENE AND RESPONSE INFORMATION.

The ‘Basic’ page is the first page once you open your incident.

In all NFIRS & EMS reports, ensure all fields highlighted yellow are completed at a minimum.

Utilize the drop down boxes by clicking the grey boxes to the right of the fields to open up options/codes.

**The Occupancy ID tab is very important for tracking information in FH and must be used when responding to business’s. If responding to an EMS call, the only people that need to be entered are the patient(s) and the business name.

• ALL INCIDENTS INVOLVING BUSINESS’ IN TOWN NEED TO HAVE THE OCCUPANCY ID LISTED IN THE

REPORT. THIS ALLOWS US TO TRACK ALL INCIDENTS THAT OCCUR AT THESE OCCUPANCIES

• IF YOU USE THE SEARCH BUTTON (SQUARE WITH 3 DOTS) AT THE END OF THE ADDRESS LINE AND CHOOSE

THE STREET NAME, A LOT OF THE INFO YOU NEED WILL BE PUT IN AUTOMATICALLY, (IE, OCCUPANCY ID,

DISTRICT, SUPPLEMENTAL BOX INFORMATION, CENSUS TRACT, ETC.). IT WILL ALSO IMPORT KEY HOLDER

INFO FROM THE OCCUPANCY INFORMATION AS WELL.

• THIS IS WHERE YOU WILL ENTER THE UNITS THAT RESPONDED – MOST OF THE TIME THEY HAVE ALREADY

M251 will usually be Medical. Typically, if an engine responds, they will be marked as Rescue. You will need to only fill out the ‘Basic’ and ‘Personnel’ tabs on this page.

Once you’ve selected Staff Group Select, you will see a list of staff members. Add multiple personnel by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking each member.

After you’ve selected your personnel, on the next page, you will need to enter in the Activity Code .

Double click the driver from the Response Detail page and be sure to select the Driveroption under the activity type.

The number of patients/victims need to be filled out in both boxes highlighted yellow.

Click the ADD button at the bottom to add each patient.

The PATIENT narrative goes here, this is not the same as your narrative in the NFIRS report. This should be a more descriptive narrative on each patient. You can copy and paste from the ESO if you wrote it, or if you clearly state it is obtained from ESO written by ______.

(Remember, you are claiming to be the report writer at the end of this report, so what you type, you are indicating it is your statement.)
