Thank you for your interest in Daisy Nursery Due to the unusual national circumstances we find ourselves in, I recently made the decision to minimise the people coming into the nurseries including asking current parents and carers to drop off and collect their child or children from the front door. This extreme and temporary measure was introduced to help us do everything we can to reduce the risk of infection and to prioritize the health of the children and our team members. Whilst this decision is absolutely the right thing to do at this current time, it does mean we are unable to offer prospective families an opportunity to visit us and see us in action. I have put together this short, fairly amateur document, to share with you a snippet of Daisy Nursery life, and combined with all the information we share on our website, www.mydaisynursery.com and our Twitter feed, @daisynursery, I hope you will be able to learn a bit more about us. If you would like to arrange a visit, we are taking bookings for new visitors to meet the Nursery Managers and look around our sites from the middle of April. If the situation becomes worse, we may push these appointments back but will keep you informed along the way as and when we know more. In the interim period, if you would like us to post you a Daisy Nursery welcome pack with our application form and parents handbook, please contact us with your name and address and we will arrange this. We will still be taking new bookings during this time period, as our offices remain open and families lives and plans must go on, and we will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have either by telephone or email. Thank you for your understanding of the current situation, I hope you enjoy the photos of us in action, and I look forward to meeting you and your child in person as soon as we are able to again. Kind regards, Vicky Peterkin

  • Thank you for your interest in Daisy Nursery

Due to the unusual national circumstances we find ourselves in, I recently made the decision to minimise the people coming into the nurseries including asking current parents and carers to drop off and collect their child or children from the front door.

    Kind regards,

  • Butter Daisy Pre-School using fine motor skills to create honeycombs and practice their phonics to spell out short words

In our Baby Lodge at Crown Daisy, we have created a sensory room for our smallest children to explore. This early introduction to scientific and mathematical concepts is also a soft and restful space to escape for a story.

Outdoor areas are hugely important in each setting. We love outdoors learning; this is our luscious rainbow alley in Sunshine Daisy and combines colours with musical experiences. Here we also wave to the horses and cows on the farm and are frequently visited by ducks.

  • Natural and authentic resources are a brilliant way for young children to learn about the world we live in. This Toddler construction area also has lots of manipulative toys that are designed to provoke imaginations and encourage a range of problem solving skills.

Our ambitious curriculum covers the seven areas of learning outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage and so much more. Pre-School enjoyed learning about styles of art and practiced their own Kandinsky type prints.

Where we can, we enjoy getting out in our communities and surrounding areas. Here are some Pre-Schoolers on a walk to the meadow in Bramley, ready to have their afternoon tea picnic.

  • Our key person system works well across all age groupings as a nurturing way of caring for each individual child and really getting to know them. It also works well in our planning as we are able to follow our children’s interests and plan activities that stem from them. After a woodland walk, this tuff spot was created to follow on from the insects we saw and the environment they live in, embedding acquired knowledge.

Small world experiences are designed to be fun, inspiring places to suspend reality and allow freedom of play and creativity. This fairy village has also hosted many superheroes that have been locked up and needed the children to find the correct matching key for the lock to free them! By introducing maths (number recognition and sequencing), this play led activity adds an extra dimension to the learning experience, whilst retaining the joyful integrity.

All our nurseries have spaces for literacy and language groups; enjoying stories, song time and puppets to re-enact and re-tell favourite narratives. Language skills are developed in each age group with champions dedicated to expanding language acquisition and enhancing babies and toddlers nonverbal skills, such as using Makaton.
