Developing a robust Engagement Model

NHS Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group
BackgroundThe CCG’s vision is to ensure that public, patient and carers voices are at the centre of our healthcare services.
To achieve this we want a commissioning system informed by insightful methods of listening and using this to better inform our decision making.
Our current processes for involving and engaging with patients and the public is adhoc and does not make the most of the opportunities available.

What are the opportunities available?
• The three biggest providers of services in Southern Derbyshire are membership organisations
• Access to a large number of patients or interested members of the public.
• All of these organisations are engaged with the CCG through the transformation work
• Opportunity for supporting each other in making the most of the already engaged people.

What will this look like? Based on the assumption of working with current provider opportunities

How this will work for SDCCGInforming
Collaborating
Consulting
Involving
Devolving This would be the development of Personal Health Budgets where patients would work with a clinician to decide how their health needs are best met
This would be something that the CCG would need to develop to ensure a more systematic process. Work already undertaken includes Diabetes. Opportunities for the future include continued development of personalisation agenda where patients, clinicians and managers would work together
This would be community engagement work either on specific projects (health inequalities) or by generic engagement work to understand community experience of health services
This would be defined work around projects such as Heanor or Walk in Services. This would include regular communications, specific workshops, public meetings and other methods as appropriate
This would be regular generic communications to people registered with the CCG and also via provider memberships (based on staff and/or membership updates) and include communications on how people can get involved
