Niagara (10-15-8) at Robert Morris (17-9-4) CHA Semifinal Friday, March 2, 2012 / RMU Island Sports Center - Pittsburgh, Pa. / 3:45 p.m. Series at a Glance Overall: 8-14-6 At Home: 6-6-2 At Niagara: 2-8-4 Neutral: 0-0-0 Top Story Robert Morris plays Niagara in the postseason for the first time in program history as it hosts the CHA Tournament for the second time. Rebecca Vint was named CHA Rookie of the Year after breaking the single-season school records for points and goals. Kristen DiCiocco received the Regular-Season Goaltending Trophey while Paul Colontino was named CHA Coach of the Year at the league banquet. Series vs. Niagara Robert Morris claimed the last series it played against Niagara, a home-and-home matchup Feb. 10 and Feb. 12. In the opener in Pittsburgh, freshman Rebecca Vint scored a pair of goals and added an as- sist in a 6-1 thumping of the Purple Eagles as she broke the single-season school record for goals in the process. Thea Imbrogno matched Vint’s output exactly with two scores and a helper. Kelsey Thomas also supplied three points while defenseman Jamie Joslin registered her first-ever mutli-point game in CHA play. Vint and Imbrogno again both collected multi-point efforts in the series finale in New York in which the Colonials were forced to settle for a 2-2 tie as the rookie broke the program’s single-season assist record. RMU posted an impressive penalty-killing effort in the draw as it went a perfect 8-for-8 when Niagara had a man-advantage. For the season, Vint and Imbrogno tied for the team lead with five points each against Niagara while both Brianna and Cobina Delaney had three apiece. This will be the first-ever postseason meeting between Robert Morris and Niagara. Scouting Niagara Niagara finished the regular season by going to overtime in ea ch of its final three contests of the regular season, including one against RMU. Niagara, which only sports three seniors on its team, is undefeated this season in nine games in which it has led after two periods. The Purple Eagles also were unbeaten in league play when they scored the first goal of the game. Nine different Purple Eagles hit double digits in points in the regular season as Jessica Hitchcock led the team in both goals (12) and points (19). Jenna Hendrikx and Kaleigh Chippy followed in a tie for second with 18 points with eight goals and six goals, respectively. Sarah Moses and Abby Ryplanski have split time in net, starting 19 and 18 contests, respectively. 2011-12 WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY SCHEDULE Date Opponent Time SEPT. 23 (Fri.) PENN STATE (Exh.)
