government and assassinated the prime minister In 1967, the Igbo people started a civil war, ended a year later,

with the defeat of the Igbo people At this time General Mohammed was the leader, Feb. 3, 1976

he was assassinated. For 17 yrs. They tried different constitutions. November 17, 1993, Sani Abacha took control, 5 years later he

died of heart failure and General Abubakar took control He turned the government over to civil rule.
