About the conference

Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs play pivotal roles in

Nigeria’s fast growing economy, creating employment opportunities and improving

people’s livelihood. However, it is generally recognised that they face unique

challenges, which affect their potential, hence diminish their ability to contribute

effectively to the continent’s sustainable development.

Enterprises and the business community in Nigeria face overwhelming challenges

including: lack of managerial skills, inadequate capital and access to finance to foster

growth, unsupportive business policies and regulatory environment, market

competition, fast technological advancement, inadequate infrastructure and

transport networks, lack of market information and industry standards. The

aforementioned issues coupled with insecurity and poor governance constraint

growth, industries competitiveness and their contribution into the economy.

This one day thought provoking and knowledge enriching high level conference aim
