SLETTER END OF TERM
The end of term is fast approaching—I can not believe we are nearly half way through the year. Next week will be a bit busy with the Foundation Evening on Monday evening. At this stage we have had a large number of enquiries and enrolments to date. We will be encouraging all enrolments to be completed by first week in August so we can provide the best possible transition program between Early years and the foundation year for 2015.
REPORTING TO PARENTS ON STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT—PARENT TEACHER DISCUSSIONS, STUDENT REPORTS AND LEARNING PORTFOLIOS Parents will be receiving student reports and student learning portfolios next Tuesday. The student learning portfolio houses samples of work and tasks students have completed to provide parents with evidence of student learning and concrete samples of work to contextualise the formal student reports. The portfolio has a celebration of learning page. We encourage families to have a share time and celebrate your child/s achievements. There is an opportunity for parents and friends to share a comment within the portfolio. Thankyou to those parents who have returned Parent Teacher Discussion Forms. A Confirmation of parent times was attached to last week’s newsletter. If you have not returned your form, teachers will be communicating with families to ensure all parents/carers have formal opportunity to speak to them about the achievements of your child/ren. Parents Note- STUDENT PORTFLIOS SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE PARENT TEACHER DISCUSSIONS PLEASE. SCHOOL COUNCIL MEETING The next School Council meeting will be held on Tuesday 24th June at 1.30pm at the school.
SCHOOL COMMUNITY SUPPORT Warragul Swap Meet is the major fundraiser for Nilma Primary School. The Parents Club will be catering at the Warragul Swap Meet at the Warragul Showgrounds on Sunday 29th June for fundraising purposes. On the menu will be Sausages, Hot Dogs, Egg & Bacon Sandwiches, Tea & Coffee, Soft Drinks and Juice. All help is greatly appreciated. We would like all families to support the day—by being available for a couple of hours—return the form on page 5 of this newsletter by next Wednesday please. Thanks to the list of parents who have returned the form and have been allocated a time.
SCHOOL VALUES’ STICKER COMPETITION Over the next week we will be encouraging students to take part in designing our new School Values REAL Stickers. Our core values of Respect and Responsibility, Environment, Achievement and Learning will be the basis of development and review of our Student Learning and Well being programs at Nilma. Students will have the opportunity to draw a picture to reflect one of the values—students will choose 4 pictures to be printed in the centre of our new school sticker awards. We will be revisiting and using these values throughout our school. Happy Drawing kids—Mum or Dad may give you some ideas to capture your thinking! I will be collecting the drawings early next week. Students will look at all displays and choose 4 pictures that represent these values.
Have a REAL go kids! WINTER SPORT The last Winter Sport session will be held this Friday 20th June. Please note that the Ten Pin Bowling will be closed this Friday, so children participating in this activity will now be doing Minor Games. Students do not need to bring $6 for this activity.

HOMEGROUP HAPPENINGS!
On the 17th of June we went to
Yarrgon Rec. Reserve to play
interschool footy. The first
game we played Drouin. We
tried hard but didn’t get there.
We got very dirty. Yay! The
second game we got smashed
by Warragul North. They are a good
team.
By James, Lachy A and Angus.
The highlight of my trip to Melbourne was
Sky Deck and the Aquatics Centre. I
thought that the Sky Deck was beautiful,
amazing even! You could see all the lights
and in the elevator it felt like my ears were
going to blow up we were going so fast. At
the Swim Centre it was brilliant too. I loved
the wave pool it was so much fun.
By Megan Griggs
As I waited for the train I said a final bye to mum and the
little boys. Then Michael said, “ Train!” and Mr Williams
told us to go to our teachers to get our cards. When he said
to get on the train Charlotte and I misunderstood what he
said so we had to wait until last!!! Bye the time we got to
Melbourne I was half asleep. First we caught a tram and
went to Imax. We went on a really big elevator and
watched “Under the Sea”! To be continued……..!
Carolyn Dungey
We went on the Eureka Sky Deck at night. It felt like I was
flying. I was a bit scared and that was on our first night! On
the second night went swimming and went to the MCG. I
touched Roughhead’s locker. He is from Hawthorn and he
is my favourite player. We also went to Imax and saw
“Under the Sea”. By Kiandra
Reading and writing numbers down in words can be tricky! This week the students in the
Red classroom have worked very hard to become number word masters!
Foundation students have been working on their numbers 1-10 and 1-20 when reading
and writing number words. Grade 1 students have been working on their numbers to 100!
They got to choose a lucky dip number from a box and write it down in words using a number word chart. They
all did so well and we had lots of fun doing a class matching game!

Well done to Holly Farnham, Shelby McGrath and Tahlia Whitney, who combined with Darnum PS students, to put in a solid effort competing against Buln Buln PS in the netball on Wednesday the 11th. Unfortunately the girls went down 5-19. A huge thank you to Danielle Blackney for coaching the girls.
Congratulations to Jack McGrath, Angus Mulconry, Harrison Perry, Lachlan Axford, James Dungey, Lachlan Crook and Patrick Smythe, who combined with Darnum PS students, to compete against Buln Buln PS in
the football on the same day. The boys had a great win 35-15. The combined footy team, with the inclusion of Shelley Brown and Shakira Kimm, then represented our sport district on Tuesday the 17th at the West Gippsland Division Round Robin in Yarragon. The team put in a great effort but unfortunately
both Drouin and Warragul North PS teams were too strong. A huge thank you Leanne and Norm Perry for transporting and coaching the students.
Well done to all students involved for having a terrific sporting experience!
