• Does not tell anything about the Post or its content• No Keyword in URL / Not SEO friendly

2. Almost a Good Permalink:

How To Set Up SEO Friendly Permalinks :

1. You can find the options to setup permalinks here -

WordPress Admin Panel –> Settings -> Permalinks

2. Choose Your Preferred URL structure and save your changes

Creating Your own preferred custom URL structure

You can modify the URL structure by selecting “custom structure”. You have many options to choose from, and then mix and match to create your own customized structure.

%year% – Year of the post, 4 digits, Ex: 2013

%monthnum% – Month of the year, 2 digits Ex: 02

%day% – Day of the month, Ex: 29

%hour% – Hour of the day, Ex: 10

%minute% – Minute of the hour, Ex: 48

%second% – Second of the minute, Ex: 25

%postname% – Post Slug

%post_id% – The unique ID # of the post, Ex: 325

%category% – Category Slug field. Nested sub-categories appear as nested directories in the URL.

%tag% – Tag Slug Field.

%author% – Author Name.

Modify Post Title Tag

A common mistake in many free or premium wordpress themes is that the post title tag is under <h2> tag. The <h1> tag holds more importance than any other header tags, so it would be wise to change it to h1 instead of h2.

Warning: Changing title tag to <h1> in blog homepage will create multiple <h1> tags issue. So it will be better if you make your title tag <h1> in single page.

How to convert <h2> title tag to <h1> title tag in single page?

Visit here – wp admin dashboard -> appearance -> editor -> single.php1.

Look for the code similar to - <h2 class="title"><?php atom()->post->Title(); ?></h2>2.

Convert it to this - <h1 class="title"><?php atom()->post->Title(); ?></h1>3.

This portion of the code should be same for most of the themes

** Warning You should only ping to Google if and only if you have done any modification to your site.
