For a trip back into the real Japan, an Otaru cultural experience is a must do day out. A town rich in Japanese culture and a prominent fishing town, Otaru has now become and iconic seaside town of Japan. During the day, you will learn to make sushi from a master sushi chef, take a tour of an historic mansion, and also watch and learn how Sake is brewed. There is a couple hours for free shopping time to allow you to stroll through this scenic city at your own pace, before jumping on a bus for a quick stop past the fish markets and a large 100Yen store on the way home to Niseko.
Creatively decorate any number of different glass items, from cups, vases and even bottles of wine. Watch as your art becomes sandblasted and made permanent, giving you a special momento of your time in Japan. This is great for when you want a few hours break from skiing and is an activity the kids will love!
A great way to experience Japan, plus take home your very own hand made calligraphy artwork. You can also dress up in traditional Japanese Kimono for an authentic souvenir photo. A perfect way to spend a relaxing afternoon off the snow.
Try your hand at a variety of authentic Japanese art, cooking and social experiences right here in Niseko. An experience to take with you forever. We can organize a variety of classes including:
Intensive Sushi Making: Tuesdays, 12:30-3:30pm, 10,000Sukiyaki and Nabe Cooking Class: Mondays 2-4:30pm, 8,500Bamboo Ink Painting: Thursday 2-4pm, 4,000Japanese Tea Ceremony: Wednesday 2-4pm, 6,000

The Australian Professional Snowsports Instructors (APSI) is an internationally recognized organization that trains and certifies snowsports instructors. The APSI, with the support of Niseko Base Snowsports (NBS), will be coming to Niseko this season and are offering a variety of courses and exams. The purpose of their trip is to not only offer training and exams for current snowsports instructors, but also to give those that are interested in becoming an instructor the opportunity to gain their first level of certification.Courses and exams will be run between the 6th and the 20th of February 2012. Please check out www.apsi.net.au for more info or see the team at NBS.
The APSI is a not-for-profit association formed in Australia in 1976 and for more than 30 years, the APSI has educated, trained and certified snowsports instructors from Australia and around the world. The APSI training program has a strong worldwide reputation within the ski industry and is endorsed by the international Ski Instructors Association (ISIA). It is a positive step for Niseko to be the host location for this training and certification program and both the APSI and NBS look forward to further developing instructor training in Niseko. Please visit www.apsi.net.au and www.nisekobase.com for more info.
