▶ In 2011 the Sunderland Nissan plant received “£189m (220m euros) of European funding for the production of the Nissan Leaf and electric batteries” (BBC, 2011).

▶ Currently the battery provides “up to 124 miles (LEAF 24kWh) or up to 155 miles (LEAF 30kWh)” (Nissan UK, 2016).

Conclusions

▶ To sum up, Nissan show elements of both entrepreneurship and innovation throughout their development of the leaf. Not only were they one of the first movers, they continue to invest and develop the leaf at every opportunity. The future is green and Nissan are critically working towards this.

▶ It is apparent that the dominating market and social demands in the automobile industry are mostly concerned with the safety, cost and environmental impact (Hoed, 2007).

▶Technological advancements provide a completely new driving

experience for consumers and set the standards for the future of automotive technology.
