The sacred Banyan tree in the Bidadi ashram encloses a natural cave which is a live samadhi of two enlightened beings - one male and the other female. Meditating under this banyan tree brings great benefits to the meditator besides materializing boons for him.

7My Dear Ones,

The only possibility of co-existence without violence is freedom-based thinking. A real sannyasi

is a person who is free in his inner space,

who has not done atma hatya. A person

who has healed himself completely. A real

sadhu is free of greed-based and power-

based systems.

Let the collective myth not be the flow of

your thought trend. Let you not judge that

you are poor based on money-based or

power-based lifestyle. Let your thinking be

freedom based. The moment your thought

trend has started working freedom-based,

you are a sadhu, un-exploitable. Don’t be

the richest or most powerful man on planet

earth, be a God on planet earth!

Be Blissful!

Life is a constant struggle. Every man,

from a grocery store owner to a steel

mills owner is struggling in their life and

often wondering the same thing - “How

much more struggle? When am I going to

get where I want to be? Are my dreams

even worth fighting for?”

The answer to all these questions comes

from a simple understanding of life itself.

As said by Buddha, “Life is suffering”.

Buddha was not being pessimistic or

dooming everyone to suffer by saying

this, no! He is merely indicating the path

to success and enlightenment. He is

telling us a subtle truth that will dissolve

our questions which start with “How

much longer... ?”. As long as people

believe that life is fun and joy, they

keep jumping from one thing to another

without any determination, without

any commitment towards their work.

Even the smallest of disappointments

is enough to shake them and question

their beliefs in their own dreams. They

give up easily to move on to pastures

which look greener. But the truth is that

grass is always green on the other side

if you think life is joy. If you accept that

life is struggle, and that is the only path

to success, the pull towards other things

automatically disappears.

To achieve any success in the outer world

or in the inner world, great perseverance

and preserving of purpose is needed.

The understanding that life is suffering

liberates people from the fantasies that

there is a greener side and makes people

stick to their purpose in life. The struggle

doesn’t seem as bad, and the longer one

sticks to the task, the more he progresses.

It is the same in a pursuit of enlightenment

as well. It entails a lot of initial

disappointments, failures, but if that

makes a seeker think that enlightenment

is not for him, or that his life is better

without enlightenment, he will simply

revert back to his old ways which look

more appealing at that moment, but

will never be able to experience the

ultimate, which can liberate him and go

beyond all sufferings in life.

The truth is that life is joy, the fact

is that life is suffering. Until one

reaches a space where he can experience

the truth, only accepting the fact can raise

him and show him the way forward. When

one starts working with the fact, the truth

automatically reveals itself to him. When

one starts with the assumption that life is

suffering and continues to work towards

his goals of success and/or enlightenment

with unwavering determination and

commitment, he slowly reaches the

place where his desires are fulfilled and

where the truth can become his own

experience. n

12vedic renaissance

Once Narada, a devotee of Lord Vishnu,

was going to Vaikuntha (abode of Lord

Vishnu). On the way, he saw a yogi sitting

and meditating. The yogi asked Narada,

‘O Narada! Please ask Lord Vishnu how

long do I have to wait for enlightenment,

when will I become enlightened?’ Narada

assured him that he will ask Lord Vishnu

about his enlightenment and continued

his journey.

On the way, there was another ecstatic

person who was just jumping and dancing

under a tree. He asked Narada, ‘O Narada!

Please ask Lord Vishnu, when will I have

his darshan.’ It is important to note that

he never asked when he will become

enlightened. He simply asked Narada

when he will have Lord Vishnu’s darshan.

He further requested, ‘Please tell Him to

grace me, how long shall I wait for His

grace?’ Narada said, ‘I will surely ask,

don’t worry.’

Vishnu’s Darshan

Page 13: Nithyananda Times - August 2012 Issue

13 vedic renaissance

Narada went to Vaikuntha and came back

with the replies. The first yogi asked him

about God’s reply. Narada said, ‘Lord

Vishnu told me that you will have to wait

for four more janmas (lives) to become

enlightened.’ Hearing this the first yogi was

depressed. He became anxious that he has

to wait for four more janmas. The other

person who was ecstatic asked Narada

‘What did God say?’ Narada replied, ‘God

told me that you have to wait for as many

janmas as there are leaves in this tree;

only then will you have his darshan, only

then will his grace descend upon you.’

The moment the ecstatic man heard this

he said, “I don’t care how long I have to

wait. Just his assurance that he will grace

me is enough’. He started jumping and

dancing again. As soon as he uttered these

words, lightning happened and the divine

descended, he became enlightened!

It may happen in the life a spiritual seeker

that because of their urgency and greed

for enlightenment which is akin to their

impatience for other material objects.,

they cannot be in surrender and don’t get

enlightened. If seekers try to catch the

experience, if they try to possess nithya

ananda (eternal bliss) the experience may

slip away, like a soap. Surrender happens

in deep patience and in the decision to

wait. In the life of Buddha, he tried various

meditation techniques and spiritual

practices with utmost sincerity to get

enlightened. When nothing worked, he

decided to relax and let go of everything,

simply trusting existence. That very

moment, he got enlightened. n

HistoryCoconut (Cocus nocifera) has been known and

cultivated in India for over three thousand

years and has a very special significance in the

Hindu tradition. In Sanskrit, it is known as

Kalpa Vriksha, which means “the tree which

provides all the necessities of life” or “wish-

fulfilling tree” due to its many uses in rituals,

festivals, medicine and cooking. The coconut is

an auspicious symbol representing health and

prosperity.

USESEvery part of the tree from the trunk to the

leaves, fruit, husk, etc. is used in innumerable

ways. The husk can be used to make ropes,

yarn, mulch, brushes and compost. The palm

leaves are used to thatch roofs and for mats to

sit or sleep on. Its branches are used to make

brooms and shore up the structure of houses.

The coconut shell is used as material to make

cups, spoons and ladles.

The tender, white meat of the fruit can be eaten

raw, or used in curries, chutneys and desserts.

It is also grated, dried and ground up to make

coconut flakes and coconut flour for baking.

Coconut milk is extracted from the pulp and is

used to thicken sauces and curries.

Coconut oil is then extracted from the milk, which is used in health products for hair and skin care

and is also one of the healthiest cooking oils available. It can be used to boost the immune system,

treat digestive problems, kill viruses, bacteria and fungi. Coconut water is a very refreshing drink,

packed with simple sugar, electrolytes and minerals to replenish hydration levels in the body. It

is composed of naturally occurring bio-active enzymes, which aid in digestion and metabolism.

It is an excellent source of electrolytes which maintain proper function of your nerves, heart, and

other muscles. Its water is also a very good source of B-complex vitamins such as riboflavin and

niacin. It contains large amount of fiber, which helps with digestion and the elimination of waste.

Acne TreatmentAcne can be treated with a mixture of 25 grams of paste of turmeric with a glass of coconut water.

Leave for the night, then add 3 teaspoons of red sandalwood powder. Stir all these ingredients

until smooth, then store again undisturbed for 3 days. Strain this mixture with three layers of

gauze. Save this juice in a bottle, and apply to face twice a day until the acne disappears.

Treatment for InfectionFill a sterilized eyedropper with organic, extra virgin coconut oil and put several drops into your

ear canal to help soothe an ear infection. Lie still for several minutes to allow the oil to travel into

the canal.

Apply a coconut oil-based moisturizer to the skin following your bath or shower. The fatty acids

in coconut oil help to re-establish the skin’s acidic balance and speed the healing of inflammation

and infection.

Coconut is an extremely versatile fruit that deserves an addition to one’s daily diet not only for the

nutritional benefits but also as a disease preventive and curative. n

16vedic renaissance

One of the ancient vedic festivals that celebrates sacred sentiments between a brother and a sister is Raksha Bandhan. ‘Raksha’ means protection and ‘bandhan’ means bond. So, by tying the sacred thread of love, a sister promises to protect her brother from all negativity. A ‘rakhi’ symbolizes the protection and care that a sister fosters for her brother. Like a shield, this thread guards the brother from every possible danger in life.

Vedic tradition gives cousins a status similar to siblings, therefore girls often tie the rakhi

to their cousins as well. Raksha Bandhan symbolizes all aspects of protection of good from evil forces. Raksha Bandhan gives an opportunity for families to get together and reunite after a long time, and for restoring and refreshing the bonds of love that they share. Not only this, it is one of the few festivals that highlights a different way of connecting with a woman. Many festivals celebrate the romantic dimension of a relationship between two people, but this instills in people, the sacred relationship between a brother and his sister.

Krishna Janmashtami is a joyous celebration of Krishna’s birth, celebrated on the 8th day (Ashtami) of the dark fortnight of the month of Bhadra (Aug-Sept) in the Hindu calendar. The celebration takes place at midnight with pujas, bhajans, fasting, enactments of Krishna’s life and other rituals.

It is no wonder that it is such a huge day for celebration as Krishna is, after thousands of years, still the most beloved being ever to incarnate on earth. His birth was one of the greatest breakthroughs in spiritual consciousness. No other being either before or since

Krishna Janmashtami

has been able to express every dimension,

every opposite without conflict. His escaping

from war and his courage have no conflict.

His romance and his knowledge have no

conflict. The Radha Krishna and Gita Krishna

have no conflict. It is hard to imagine the

greatest romancer to ever live, standing

on the battlefield giving the Bhagavad Gita

teachings to Arjuna. Yet there is no conflict

between these aspects of Krishna. From

his multi-dimensional human personality to

his playfulness, his being an expression of

extraordinary energy, and the author of the

most comprehensive unabridged dictionary

of world philosophies, Krishna makes the

task of describing him almost impossible.

The one thread connecting every aspect

of Krishna is love. Krishna is the very

embodiment of love. Every incident, every

happening, every expression is one of love.

He is able to infuse love even into the hearts

of his enemies. You cannot separate Krishna

and love. You cannot remember Krishna

without remembering love.

Let this great incarnation, the conflict free

ideal, conflict free idol, bless us all. Let us

offer our humble devotion at his feet. Let

him bless us all to imbibe the conflict free

life and imbibe his very presence in us. n

Unclutching, a word that leads to infinite

possibilities. From a student in graduate

school, to a doctor working in a busy hospital,

to an everyday housewife, unclutching is

a process that has the potential to benefit

anyone and everyone. It does not lead to a

gradual transformation, rather, its effects

are like a quantum explosion. A single jump,

that’s all it takes.

If that jump is made, will all activity and work

stop? No! In fact, when someone unclutches

from their identity, they express a creativity

and intelligence that is both spontaneous

and natural. In other words, unclutching

does not mean laziness! On the contrary, an

unclutched being is free from the prison of

their own identity. The tremendous energy,

usually wasted in psychological worrying

and irritation, will instead become positive,

creative energy. Instead of slaving over work,

stressing out over deadlines, and worrying

about every little detail, an unclutched

person will be able to work freely, without

the pressure and irritation that normally

accompanies an undertaking.

Normally, we carry a deep irritation, vengeance,

and arrogance within us, and we express the

same through our body language, our words,

our very steps! Unclutching will release the

innate intelligence that we have stored within

our being so we are free from the negativity we

carry with us.

In fact, if it weren’t for our egos, unclutching

would be our natural state.

UNCLUTCH DOESN’T MEAN LAZINESS !

be unclutched!

Taken from Nithyananda’s Discourse

on Unclutching, 2007

Page 23: Nithyananda Times - August 2012 Issue

23

Because we believe and defend our philosophies so

strongly, we are scared to use our intelligence to look in.

Once we do, we will see how much energy we are wasting

in psychological worrying! If we see how worrying has

become our natural state we can simply move away from

it. However, time and again we are given more things to

worry about. It seems almost impossible to move away

from worries then! We are told from a very young age that

if we work hard we will achieve. There will be no need to

worry after that! But is this really the case? How much

stock can we put in the idea of hard work itself? We have

just come to accept this idea as a natural factor of life, like

breathing. However, if we use a little intelligence we can

see that the idea of hard work is a pure myth! We take

simple tasks, plan them out ten times, worry about whether

we will accomplish them or not ten more times, and after

completing them, talk and brag out them ten more times,

and call this hard work!

An unclutched person will work smart, not hard. This is the

main difference. Unclutch from your identity, and allow the

natural intelligence of your being to shine forth. The body

will simply move and a new, miraculous awakening will

continuously express itself, in a stress-free and spontaneous

way. Worries will become a thing of the past, and work will no

longer be a burden, but an avenue for intense creativity! Pure

intelligence will overcome the laziness and restlessness of

the body, and life itself will simply transform! n

be unclutched!

24yoga & kriya

Self-esteem is a term in psychology to

reflect a person’s overall evaluation

or appraisal of her or his own worth.

A person with low self-esteem usually

presents the following symptoms: An

habitual state of dissatisfaction with

oneself; hypersensitivity to criticism;

chronic indecision from an exaggerated

fear of making a mistake; being unwilling

to say “no” out of fear of displeasing the

petitioner; excessive perfectionism which

leads to frustration when perfection is not

achieved; neurotic guilt; floating hostility;

defensive tendencies and a general inability

to enjoy life.

26main story

Freedom, the truth for which almost the whole world gives its life. If you just look inside the human consciousness the very flow of human consciousness is towards freedom. If you see the history of all civilizations, all the expression is always towards freedom. Whatever they thought as freedom, they were always putting their energy in that direction.

Even money - Why do you think so much of desire for wealth in the world? Because with money you have more choices. You experience a glimpse of freedom with money. Without money you have only one suffering. With money you have many suffering between which you can choose.

Whether it is our running behind money, or political freedom or social freedom whatever you may call it with different names. But finally human consciousness constantly expands towards freedom. If you think political freedom is the ultimate, you start moving towards political freedom. If a society thinks social freedom

is the ultimate, they start move towards social freedom. If you think economical freedom is the ultimate, you start working for economic freedom. Whatever you consider as a freedom, you start working towards it. You start traveling towards it.

Let us look deeply inside the very basis of freedom. How human beings decide whether political freedom is important or religious freedom is important or spiritual freedom is important or economical freedom is important.

Very beautifully Upanishad says, ‘Ekoham bahushyaam’. ‘The one which is me let it, let me become many.’ One more beautiful Upanishadic statement, ‘The one became many just to enjoy itself.’ The basic idea with which the one became many is to enjoy itself. That is why I say the basic thread of this whole creation is compassion. When the one became many the only commandment it created for itself is ‘let us all co exist blissfully’.

FREEDOM !

Page 27: Nithyananda Times - August 2012 Issue

27 main story

That is why I say compassion is the only

commandment from God, the cosmic

law. Everything else is a man made

law. But compassion is the cosmic law.

When the ‘one’ became ‘many’ with this

cosmic thought, ‘Let us all co-exist’, the

compassion became a base material.

AHIMSA

We can see in our civilization, even for

political freedom we trusted a saint-

‘Mahatma’ – Gandhi - a person who is

established in non-violence, ahimsa. I tell

you, in any crisis ahimsa, compassion,

non-violence, is the best strategy. I am

telling from my experience. There is

no crisis which cannot be handled by

compassion, by ahimsa.

Understand, freedom has more to do

with the inner space in which you are

established, from where you are making

decisions. The point where you receive

information from the outer world and

process, make decisions. Freedom is

more dependent on that space than the

place where you live. I tell you from my

experience, freedom has nothing to do

with the place you live in. It is the space

you are established. If you are established

in a zone where the information is

received and processed, and decisions

are made with deep friendliness, with

deep joy, with deep compassion I tell you

are established in the real freedom. The

ultimate freedom which can’t be taken

away by anybody.

Taken from Nithyananda’s ‘Freedom Discourse’ on 10th July, 2010, Bidadi Ashram

28main story

“FREEDOM FROM ”...

Freedom from something is negative part

of freedom. Freedom for something is

positive part of freedom. Freedom from

and for is the ultimate freedom. Freedom

from something means freedom from

some bondage – freedom from prison,

freedom from some conditions etc.

The negative part of freedom will never

give you the fulfillment unless you have

the positive part of freedom. Freedom

for what? Unless you understand the

‘freedom for’, the ‘freedom from’ will

not give you fulfillment. You will take it

for granted. The ‘freedom from’ will be

forgotten in few days. None of you are

celebrating that you have been free.

‘Freedom from’ is always forgotten taken

for granted when you don’t know the

‘freedom for’.

Please understand, ‘freedom from’ means

bondages. When you are free from that

you are free from fears. ‘Freedom for’

means greeds, goals. When you are

free from that, you are free from greed.

When you are free from the hatred or

vengeance, suddenly you experience

a different dimension of freedom, the

ultimate freedom.

How much ever you grab things or

people, places or objects you will not be

living with it. Nothing can be added to

you. This is an important truth, please

understand when you are established

in Ahimsa, even if your body is taken

away from you, even if you are killed,

what all you think as joy which you want

to experience through the body , you will

be able to experience even without that

body.

But if you are established in vengeance,

even if you have the body you will not

be able to experience what you want.

Even if you are eating you will be thinking

something else, you will not be enjoying.

Even if you are listening you will be thinking

something else, you will not be enjoying.

I have seen people going to the vacation

places, going to the hill resorts, such a

beautiful scene, they will not be enjoying

the scene. They will be planning how to

own a cottage here, how to own a house

here, how to own a farmhouse here. They

cannot enjoy anything unless it belongs

to them legally. By the time it belongs

to them legally, they are running behind

the carpenter, plumber and electrician to

take care of that house.

A person who is established in vengeance,

will never be enjoying anything, something

else will be going on. A person who is

established in compassion, ahimsa, even

if the body is taken away from him, he

will be enjoying whatever he wants.

LIFE AS IT IS

Please understand, the greatest foolishness that a human being can commit is strategy planning to come out of a crisis. Any strategy planning you make when you are in a crisis, you will be putting more and more crisis, because when the crisis happens, an ordinary mind gets caught in fear and greed, and it’s almost like negotiating with life. You can negotiate with each other, giving something and taking something. You cannot negotiate with life, you cannot bargain with life. With life there is no negotiation, only pure surrender. When the life happens in your life larger than your life size, if you are shaken, it is a crisis. If you are relaxed it is a teaching. See, when life interferes in your life larger than life-size means you are not able to measure it. In college I have seen the senior used to rag juniors. ‘What department you are in?’ The junior says, ‘I am in civil engineering.’ ‘Do you know how to do survey?’ ‘Yes I learnt.’ These guys will give a matchstick and tell them survey this whole room.

Same way, when life happens in front of you, if you start asking questions ‘why this to me? What? Why? When? Why?’, it’s almost like trying to measure life, like measuring the whole hall with a matchstick. You cannot measure life with your matchstick. ‘Why, when, what.’ Your length, breadth, depth is too small to measure life. When you try to solve life with the matchstick, you will be creating more and more chaos. When you are established in deep compassion, deep sympathy, you will just see life is appreciated as it is. Life is experienced as it is

FREEDOM FROM VENGEANCE - THE PROCESS

I will give you a simple process to

experience this truth. Sit with yourself

in a relaxed way. Inside your mind call

the people whom you feel are accused in

your life, with whom you cherish hatred

and anger. Call them one by one. Logically

reason - even if I take revenge on him or

her is my life going to be fulfilled? NO.

Please understand, you always think

that whenever you are in crisis, when

you take revenge on the person who

created problem for you, you achieved

something. NO, that is not your success,

even if you take revenge on him finally

suddenly you feel you are feeling empty,

you are not feeling fulfilled. Taking revenge

on somebody, is not going to be fulfilling

you, it’s just going to be the diversion

of your life energy, wasting of your life

energy. Any emotion can be nullified when

you reason with it 7 times continuously.

I am giving you an important clue. Any

emotion, whether it is anger or

lust or hatred or vengeance - bring it

to your consciousness, inner space and

reason with it logically 7 times continuously.

By the time you finish the seventh time,

that emotion will lose its power over you.

Blood cannot wash blood. Violence

cannot nullify violence, if we go on doing

eye for an eye whole world will become

blind. A judge who has the power to judge

and judges will only be a judge. Maybe

international court judge. But a judge

who has the power to judge and does

not judge anybody is GOD. So call every

accused you have in your heart, in your

inner space. Conduct the court session

and acquit them with honor. When you

acquit everybody and everything without

judging suddenly you will see you are the

cosmic judge, you are God.

This tremendous experience of no need

for the body and freedom from hatred is

the ultimate freedom. nImage © Rising Damp

32beyond mind

In his first Sutra, Shiva gives this most

simple meditation. Buddha used this

technique and called it Vipassana

which means sitting with the Self, or

sitting with God. Indeed, this method

is the essence of Buddhism. No other

technique has brought so many millions

to enlightenment. When asked if he had

to pick one of the millions of meditation

techniques, Nithyananda says that this

is the one he would choose because if

all spiritual knowledge on the planet

were lost, this is the one that could

keep enlightenment alive.

The secret lies in the simple observance

and bringing awareness and presence

to the breath. The process of breathing

in and out is not a parallel movement

as one might think, but rather a circular

movement. Between the in breath

(down) and the out breath (up) and

again between the out and in breaths

there are gaps.

When reaching the gap the mind stops.

Fear of losing identity causes a jump over

the gap because identity doesn’t exist

there. There is avoidance of maintaining

awareness in this gap because the fear

of losing identity is stronger than the

fear of death. What may happen to

“me” after “I” dies is a less terrifying

thought than “I” won’t exist. This

creates the impulse to protect the

unreal or comparative reality (identity)

from the real existential reality (pure

consciousness).

Here Shiva is creating the subtlest

possible technique. A human being as

such cannot work directly on the ether

or mind. It can only be touched through

the breath and this is the bridge between

the individual and the Universe. It is the

bridge between the body and the mind.

Humans are composed of 5 elements,

but it is only when the breath happens

that mind happens. The body is matter.

The mind is ether. The breath is the

bridge.

Watch Your BreathTaken from Nithyananda’s Discourse, April, 2006, Los Angeles, USA

Page 33: Nithyananda Times - August 2012 Issue

33 beyond mind

The breath and the mind are very closely related. The length, breadth, and depth of the breath correspond directly to the number of thoughts experienced. With long slow deep breaths, the number of thoughts is reduced. Being aware of the unconscious fear and slowing the thoughts enhances the ability to drop into the neutral zone, just as when driving a car it is necessary to go into neutral before changing gears.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Quiet the mind with long, slow, deep breaths

2. Bring awareness to the gap just at the end of the in (down) breath, and just before it turns up into the out breath, and again between the out (up) and in (down) breaths.

3. Relax. Allow the breath to carry you into your inner space, the zone where neither breath nor mind exist.

4. Surrender. Allow yourself to become more and more comfortable with this neutral zone. If you are able to relax into this zone with awareness, an explosion of consciousness can happen.

5. Be patient. You cannot bully yourself into a sense of security.

In every breath God is knocking at your door. n

34science meets spirituality

Within the last several decades, the field of science has taken a huge leap forward in its understanding of human consciousness. For many years, this topic was avoided by mainstream scientists who felt that consciousness was a subjective experience and could not be explained using objective experimental inquiry. However, beginning in the 1980’s, scientists, primarily within the fields of psychology and neuro-science, began conducting experimental studies dealing with consciousness and cognition. Moreover, within the realm of physics, the exploration of quantum mechanics has provided a completely different way of looking at the world than previous scientific thought allowed. Now, science has once again taken a huge leap forward through a more balanced assessment of consciousness, thought and emotions and the effects they have on the overall wellness of a human being.

babies need hugs !In a recent study, published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, behavioral scientists have proven that giving babies hugs and affection reduces their rates of anxiety, hostility, and general levels of distress. The study was conducted using nearly 500 infants that were followed from infancy into their adult years. The levels of

affection were graded using a five-point scale ranging from “negative” levels of affection to “extravagant” levels. As expected,

infants who were given “extravagant” or “caressing” levels of affection by mothers displayed less anxiousness, hostility, and overall distress when they were older. In this way, scientists have also proven that positive human emotions can also help shape a healthy immune system since feelings of anxiousness and stress

can have a negative impact on health,

especially in those already suffering an

illness.

Also, thoughts and emotions have the

capacity to alter the physical structure

of human DNA, as proven by scientists in

the Institute of Heart Math in 2001. The

scientists placed human placental DNA

samples in a container. Twenty-eight vials

of DNA were given to researchers and

individuals trained in mental and emotional

self-management. In other words, how to

consciously enhance positive emotional

thoughts, such as love and well-being.

the role of the dna

The researchers hypothesized that there

exists an energy-based information

exchange between the human heart

and the rest of the body, which they

termed heart energy. Moreover, they

hypothesized heart energy acts through

DNA to produce physiological benefits in

human beings, such as health and vitality.

They proved these assumptions by

measuring changes in DNA within the

vials using ECG monitoring and UV spectra

analysis. Volunteers capable of generating

feelings of deep love and gratitude were

able to physically alter the structure of the

DNA in the vials. The results generated

showed that DNA conformation was

affected differently based on varying

intentions. For example, when gratitude,

love and appreciation was felt, the DNA

unwound, relaxed, and became longer.

In contrast, thoughts of anger, fear and

frustration caused the DNA to become

increasingly wound and shorter.

Page 36: Nithyananda Times - August 2012 Issue

36

DNA unwinds and is wound up again for specific processes within the human body, such as transcription. Transcription is important for generating proteins and enzymes, which regulate many of the body’s basic cell functions. Therefore, the researchers were able to prove that the heart energy has a direct correlation on some of the most basic and essential biological functions of a human being. live in gratitude, live healthyMoreover, a follow-up study was later conducted using HIV-positive patients.

They reported a 300,000 times increase in resistance to the HIV virus in participants who displayed feelings of love, gratitude, and appreciation.

Science has displayed enormous growth in terms of its scope within recent years. With more research on the horizon, perhaps science will succeed in explaining more of the world’s greatest spiritual mysteries in quantifiable and measurable ways. With the backing of scientifically corroborated studies and research models, correct spiritual knowledge and practice can bring about a new clarity in mankind that can help people live healthier and longer. n

TIME IS A LIE

Time is the greatest lie ever told to

humanity. There is no such thing as the

existence of time. The sun is rising and

setting. The moon is rising and setting.

Seasons are happening not as you

planned. Please understand, we think,

only in modern days the seasons are

not happening properly. Seasons never

happened properly because there is no

such thing as the proper existence for

a season. Maybe you try to understand

with certain averages, between 20

degrees and 30 degrees, between 60

degrees and 70 degrees. With averages

you come up with arguments to support

some greatest lie called time. Where is

time? There is no such thing as ‘time exists’. Sun rises and falls, moon rises and falls, body rises and falls, that’s all. Where is time? What is the definition of a day? It is not existential reality. A day is not a day as you think. It is the definition you created, which thewhole world has accepted non-controversially.

REALITY

Any definition accepted non controversially by the world does not become existential reality. It’s a taught fact. If all of us sit together and pass a certain resolution, “let there not be anymore tsunami’s on the planet earth”, you think it is going to become existential reality? At the most it can become a law in all the places where human beings are living but not more than that. Time is the root cause of all sufferings. Realize this one truth and decide not to bend for anything. See, as per your reality, anything which you perceive for a long period you conceive that as a reality.

39 esoteric realms

That is why you think of dreams as illusions because you perceive that for only a few hours. This waking state you perceive as reality, because you perceive this for 70 years. So you perceive this as a reality. Time is the worst myth, greatest lie, the most sadistic concept taught to human beings by the unconscious human beings who are in turn taught that same foolishness by some other unconscious human beings. Do not inherit sadism. When you learn the concept of time, you inherit sadism.

EXPERIENCING HAPPENINGS AS EXTERNAL

Life needs to be lived with the tremendous freedom that time is a lie. Being an external to all the happenings internally is what I mean by being liberated from time. Please

understand, being external to all

the happenings internally - means

whatever you consider as the internal

happening, the concept of time,

stress created by time, strengths and

weaknesses of your body and mind, the

ideas and experience you have about

consciousness, all are experienced as

internal. When it is experienced as

external, you are beyond time.

Meditate on this one sacred secret.

Live this sutra, live this one sacred

secret. Whatever you think of as

internal should become external to

you. The more and more internal things

become external for you, the more

you are grown spiritually. Understand,

if inside there are a hundred things, for

somebody twenty things may become

external.

Taken from Nithyananda’s Yoga Sutra Discourses

Page 40: Nithyananda Times - August 2012 Issue

40

This means initially your body will

become external for you. Yes, this

is not me. Then, your prana, your

air circulation will become external

for you. This is not me. Then mental

thoughts will become external for

you. This is not me. But initially, all

this will be internal for you. Then

emotions, ‘Oh! This is not me!’

Understand, this is externalizing all the

most subtle internal happenings. When

you internalize the external things,

more and more bondage happens.

When you externalize internal things,

more and more liberation happens,

that’s all. When you externalize, first

the body becomes external, then

prana becomes external, then the

thoughts becomes external. Then

emotions become external. Then

the pains caused by those emotions

become external, then the very

experience of consciousness becomes

external. Only finally, ultimately, the

pure consciousness alone remains

as internal. I am revealing one of the

important truths. n

42nithya jyotisha (vedic astrology)

Aries. This month, your energy goes to creating wealth and status. This is time to work on your career and professional goals. You have flair and drive to sense what needs to be done and how it should be done. Work on harnessing your intuition for your day to day life! In fact, all genius decisions, discoveries and masterpieces were made out of sheer intuition. Never let your practicality and your goals cut you off your intuition. When you reject it, you close your door to the higher aspects of life, and reduce existence to an object. There may be a plan for business in your life, but your life should never be only a business plan!

Taurus. Worry and tension come when you think you are the doer. If you shift the sense of ownership to a higher energy and continue to do your work blissfully, you will feel tremendously relaxed! When you surrender to an enlightened Master, you are actually surrendering to one who has no ego, no identity and hence no vested interest of his own. By holding his hand, you ask him to take you to the ocean of bliss he is in. When you surrender to the higher energy, you can never feel drained and exhausted since you connect to the highest energy. Surrendering is the technique.

Gemin i . Writing to your self is a royal path towards healing. Writing your feelings on paper can help you to express things you would never be able to express ; it can bring to the surface many hidden feelings and knowledge you never knew you had before. Your Being is trying to reach you every minute, but your mind is too busy to hear its subtle voice. Writing will bring a whole new understanding in your being. Write to yourself as if you were your closest friend. Just let the words flow on paper, don’t edit them and be close to your heart; express things you would never speak out loud. You will connect to past wounds and heal them gracefully.

Cancer. The month is bringing expansion into its fold, a deep feeling of easiness and IS-ness within your community, family, and partnerships. You have a generous heart and a compulsion to shower your beloveds with gifts and caring attention. You are on your path to express your feminine energy. Relate to the world, yourself and God as if they are your children. Put others before you. Care for your near and dear ones, visualize your beloved master residing in each and everyone as your beloved child! This motherly energy exists in all men as well. To manifest and to realize it, is at the core of your enlightenment. So go ahead, and enjoy!

LeO. A failure brings a discouragement

that throws you in a deep questioning

mood… ‘Why am I running like that?

What is the purpose of my life?’ Do not

think too much about all this philosophical

questions. Actually, you are existing, in the

ups and downs, and things are happening

without reason. Work on vairagya, non

possessiveness of what you have, and

renunciation of what you don’t have. If your

questioning comes out of frustration, then

just accept that you haven’t yet achieved

what your ego wants, be wise, patient, and

carry on until your goal is reached.

VirgO. The time is excellent to enjoy

the company of the wise. Read books,

watch Swamiji’s Youtube discourses. Much

will happen around the month: sharing,

understanding and growth because the

introspection you felt those past months

is about to bear fruits. You have become

sensitive to the wrong mental patterns in

you. Your understanding of your problem

is ripped, but the click to lift you out

completely is yet to happen. Just one word

of the master is enough to lift you out. So

be in a deep receptive mood, the gift can

happen any moment!

LiBra. It could be a good time for creating

balance between work and home. You will

develop bhakti, devotion, love and inner

peace into your private life. Anything you

do related to home, landscaping, care, will

give a profitable result. The more you share

what you receive, the more you expand.

We are part of all that is around us, we

are not separated as we think. Expand

yourself in the expression you like the

best. The impulse of the month favors you

to be fully focused on what you do. Be

involved in your community. Let you be a

light there.

ScOrpiO . The more self-love enters

your system, the more it is easy to go

through your transformation without

falling into ditches. ‘Yes’ is the key word.

Say ‘yes’ to yourself. We always think that

to love, one needs somebody else. But if

you don’t learn it with yourself you will

not be able to practice it with others.

This is the basic secret of love. You can

only encompass the other when you have

integrated yourself in love; otherwise,

your love is pseudo. What you dislike in

others is always a projection of you and

the way you judge people tells a lot about

how you consider yourself.

Page 44: Nithyananda Times - August 2012 Issue

44Sagittarius. Our problems in life are

existential. You cannot solve by thinking

only. You can only solve them by living

through them. You can only enter into

those experiences of struggles and pain,

instead of standing aside and try to

resist it. The mind thinks it can even find

solutions to emotions, without feeling

them through the body. That is how our

relation to the physical has disappeared.

One operates from the head only, and the

body disconnects itself from the mind.

Slowly, we have lost our contact with our

own presence, and need to regain it.

CapricOrn . When your logic manages

your anger, you will have two problems.

You will be shouting and showing your

anger when it is not necessary, because

you‘ll have lots of suppression. When

you are not expressing it, you will be

suppressing it, and you may create all kinds

of discomforts. Suppressing or expressing-

both are not going to help. You will think:

what am I supposed to do? Just be, that’s

all. Let it come as it comes. Feel it. It will

no more remain with you.

Aquarius. Some of you may go through

financial turmoil during August. Existence

has many ways to teach us through

experience. When there is more insecurity,

more danger, the only way to respond to it

is by awareness. Just stand in your sincerity

and authenticity. Money is not the aim of

the cosmic constitution, but the learning

that stands behind the experience is the

goal. Ultimately, whatever you have now

will leave you when death comes. Envision

the problem under a bigger scope, which

will give you great freedom and insight

into the inner mysteries of life!

Pisces. Your mood is light; you can

enjoy your friends and kids in a laid back

manner. This is an excellent time for letting

go of negative attitudes and any animosities

that might have been holding you back.

It is also a good time for accomplishing

ideas that involve charitable and spiritual

work. Drop everything you feel is not

your own experience. Just let go of your

protective shield, drop your defenses and

give yourself a holiday! n

Below there are a few questions which we call as a hitch. What you have to do is to think of a solution according to your understanding. Then read the answer given by the master. Gentle Kick 1: Just feeling grateful for whatever has been given to us. I mean, you should even be thankful for the breath which just a second ago went through your system.Gentle Kick 2: It is a conspiracy.Gentle Kick 3: Yoga is not just bending your body front and back and trying to create knots. All the 21 chapters of the Bhagavad Gita use the word yoga. But nowhere can you find anything on bending and putting knots in your body. Real yoga is union of body, mind and spirit.Gentle Kick 4: They are a natural replica of you.
