WHAT’S SLEEPING IN YOUR BED? BED BUGS have made a dramatic come-back in hotels, colleges and universities throughout the country. Bed bugs are
hitchhikers so they can be transported into your room by anyone. They are very easy
to spread. If you see any of the following:
* small dark stains or bugs around mat-tress seems,
* bite marks or welts on your skin * small blood droplets on your sheets
or if you suspect bed bugs, go to Health Services or your health care provider for confirmation.
Please inform the Residence Life Office immediately by notifying your hall office, emailing [email protected] or submitting a maintenance request at, www.njit.edu/reslife.
COLD & FLU SEASON Each year millions of people miss work
or school because of the flu. Influenza
(also known as the flu) is a contagious
respiratory illness caused by flu
viruses. It can cause mild to severe
illness, and at times can lead to death.
The flu is different from a cold. The flu
usually comes on suddenly. People who
have the flu often feel some or all of
these symptoms:
Fever (not seen in all cases)
Cough
Sore throat
Runny/stuff nose
Muscle/Body aches
Headaches & Fatigue
Student Health Services is offering a limited amount of the vaccine for students.
Students should call Health Services at 973.596.3621 to inquire about the flu
shot.
For more information about the seasonal flu visit, www.cdc.gov/flu .

THE TRUTH ABOUT SLEEP
Do you some of the biggest myths regarding
sleep?
Sleep is a critical component of our lives. Without
adequate sleep, we are less productive in school
or at work, are likely to be more agitated, and
have trouble concentrating on daily tasks.
Researchers have found that most college
students are not getting the recommended eight
hours of sleep, necessary to perform our daily
activities. In fact, many college students are only
getting four-five hours on sleep on average.
Check out Student Health 101 to learn how much
sleep your student should be getting in order to
thrive in school! http://readsh101.com/njit.html.
