MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the New Lenox Community Park

District is to provide safe recreational opportunities

through diverse programs, facilities and open space,

with the overall goal being improvement of the

quality of life in our community.

Greetings from the New Lenox Community Park District! It sure seems like we didn’t have much of a summer, especially now that we will be looking “At Old Man Winter.” But not to worry, your Park District has a slew of programs to choose from to get you through the Winter months.

I have a lot of information to share with you, but space dictates I focus on a few. Again for the 6th year in a row, your Park District has received the prestigious “Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.” This award means that your Board of Commissioners and Park District Staff are good stewards of your tax dollar, while adhering to above and beyond accepted accounting standards.

Second, we anticipate moving into our new home. (The former New Lenox Police Station) at years end. Our new Administration Building will provide much needed space for administrative and recreational offices as well as additional programming. This move was made possible through an intergovernmental agreement allowing for a property exchange between our Park District and the Village of New Lenox with no burden to the taxpayers.

Lastly, please go through this catalog and choose a program that strikes your interest. We offer programs as young as birth to our most respected seniors. Do yourself a favor by signing up for one of the programs. I guarantee you will be glad you did.

Remember be Active and Stay Healthy!

Sincerely.

MEET & GREET DAYS for registrants.September 10 and 11Classes begin the week of September 14, 2015 through May 20, 2016.

What does Kiddie Kampus offer its participants?

Children learn many things before going to kindergarten. The New Lenox Community Park District offers preschool classes designed to develop social, emotional and physical skills to ensure school readiness. A child’s separation from parents and involvement with a non-family member is one of many major steps towards his/her development. Kiddie Kampus provides a safe and supportive environment for your child’s first school experience while increasing his/her self-esteem and confidence through age appropriate instruction. Covered during the year are color, shape and number recognition, an introduction to number concepts and letter recognition. Your child’s quest for learning will be nurtured through creative play, building friendships, working individually and cooperating as part of a group. These activities promote patience, sharing and the awareness that there is a whole world of people surrounding and supporting them. Songs, stories, activities and games are used for reinforcement and fun.

What requirements are necessary for Kiddie Kampus registration?

1. A copy of your child’s birth certificate MUST be provided at registration. A child must be four (three for the 3-year old program), on or before Sept. 1, 2015 and must be able to handle bathroom hygiene independently (potty trained, no diapers). It is very helpful if the child is able to zip/button independently.

2. A $50 non-refundable registration fee, $10 T-shirt fee and first month’s tuition will be collected, beginning Saturday, March 21 from 8am-11am, when you pre-register your child.

3. A voter’s card or tax bill is required at registration for verification of residency. Our Kiddie Kampus follows New Lenox School District #122’s calendar year for all full days off except for our Winter break.

*Five…Finally 2015/2016Age 4½ (Child MUST be turning five between 9/1/15-12/31/15)LCC (Room 5) Entry C

This Kiddie Kampus class is designed to benefit our “older” preschool children who just missed the Kindergarten cut-off. We have created a class geared towards the older learners. This class will meet Mon., Wed. and Fri. for two and a half hours per day. See chart on previous page for pricing details.

**Tuesday/Thursday Extended Day 2015/2016Ages 3-4LCC (Room 5) Entry C

This program provides a secure and caring environment that fosters growth in verbal development, small/large motor skills and social skills. This program is specifically created to serve the Tuesday/Thursday preschoolers to extend their day so they receive as many academic hours as their three-day- a-week counterparts in a two-day school week. See chart on previous page for pricing details.

Program Requirements

• Children must be the correct age by 9/1/14, unless otherwise specified. In order to provide your child with the best possible recreational and/or learning experience, all of our programs are planned according to the ages listed in our brochure.

• Classes are for child attending only, except for classes with an adult. Parents should not remain in the classroom or gymnasium after dropping off their child. This is in the child’s best interest, as continual interruptions tend to affect participant’s attention span and inhibit the establishment of peer relationships.

Musikgarten New TIME!Ages 6 months-3 years

Instead of just another sing-a-long class, Musikgarten offers your child music education at an early age. Your child will bounce, wiggle, sing and dance while they learn rhythm and other musical concepts through activities, games and instruments. This is a wonderful way to bond while they learn and have fun at the same time. All of our instructors are Musikgarten certified.

Early Childhood Athletics To the residents of

New Lenox Community Park District!

Since at the time of publication of this catalog, we did not know the outcome of the November 4th referendum request regarding taxpayer support in MAINTAINING our tax rate, I would like to take the time to recognize and say “Thank You!” to those organizations that worked and extended their support for the Park District. This support came in the form of official endorsements, letters of support for the Park District, email blasts to their respective membership, purchasing and installing yard signs and going door to door to hand out referendum information.

Those organizations are:

• New Lenox Friends of the Parks• New Lenox Chamber of Commerce• Will & Grundy Counties Building Trades Council• New Lenox Republican Party• New Lenox Girls Softball Association• New Lenox Mustang Football Association• New Lenox Soccer Association• New Lenox Youth Football Association• New Lenox Baseball Association

We hope the referendum outcome was a positive one, so that the Park District can maintain and expand our park system WITHOUT ADDITIONAL cost to our taxpayers.

If the referendum has failed, your Park Board of Commissioners, along with Park District Administrative Staff, will access the short and long term effects and adjust accordingly.

Thank you for your support! Remember, stay active and be healthy.

Sincerely,Brian FischerPark Board President

The New Lenox Community Park District would like to sincerely thank and express our appreciation for the wonderful efforts of our foundation, New Lenox Friends of the Parks. Throughout the past year, this dedicated group of individuals have gone above and beyond in their mission to support the New Lenox Community Park District’s mission for the “improvement of the quality of life in our community.” Their efforts have included various fundraisers resulting in our Park District’s ability to purchase new equipment for both our athletic and educational programs. Their generosity to help us allows for program costs to be maintained through materials being replaced with their donations. Finally, their efforts during the election process, in providing necessary referendum information to our residents was tremendously appreciated. This foundation continues to grow and perform at a level we are grateful to have on our side. If you are interested in joining this worthwhile organization, please send an email to [email protected].

Thank You...

SKundalini YogaKundalini Yoga uses a series of movements and breath exercises that create mental and physical endurance designed to help relieve stress, depression symptoms, insomnia, increase mental clarity, as well as help with weight control while improving strength and flexibility. Kriyas (set of yogic postures) can be fast and repetitive or at other times relatively still. The accompanying breaths often mirror the movements of the body. Chanting is used to help center our minds and to assist with breath exercises. This class is great for people who like variety, need low impact exercises to build strength and are looking to reduce stress. All levels of experience and flexibility are welcome! For your comfort, please come to class on an empty stomach (eat 2 hours before class) and wear loose fitting clothing. Please bring your own yoga mat, blanket and a water bottle to class.
