The masthead is in capital letters and id very bold. This is the largest text on the cover showing the importance of this, the name of the magazine.

The use of the colour red for this title follows the colour scheme of this issue of NME.

The header says “16 page autumn tour special” this is in a different colour to the majority of the magazine but in the same colour as the footer linking them both showing what else is included in the issue.

The main image shows Dizzee Rascal taking up the majority of the page because he is the main feature of this issue of NME. He looks really happy in this image and is crouching down looking straight at the audience.

The main cover line, is in white on top of the busy colourful background which makes this stand out, and links in with the main image on the cover.

The barcode, price and issue number is very Important for the magazine in order to sell the issue, this is a vital part to the cover that is included on every magazine! The footer lists bands all of the same genre that fit

in with the style of magazine showing the audience what is included.

There is a quote here from the interview with dizzee rascal this is in large capital letters and is white matching the cover line “dizzee rascal” this has been put on the cover to give the reader a taster of what will be inside showing how interesting the interview will be.

The background of the magazine behind the main image is very busy with lots of colours which makes the cover look busy and full of exciting things.

This cover follows the rule of third which is a way helping photographers to draw the readers attention to certain parts of the page in this instants the audience is drawn to dizzee rascal and the cover lines concerning him. The right third of the magazine is left mainly empty as the magazine is so busy and full aimed at dizzee rascal.

The flasher suggests there is extra in this issue, it appears as though stuck onto the cover as though there is more in this particular issue.

The sell lines show examples of artists from the modern indie genre showing with in the magazine. There isn’t a lot of sell lines on the cover this is because dizzee rascal is dominating the cover because clearly takes up a big part of this issue. Also the lack of sell lines show this magazine as popular because they don’t need lots of sell lines to sell the magazine.

The dominating image on the cove0r is a relevant artist, Dizzee Rascal is an artist from the same genre of the audience’s interests. Sell lines, the header and the footer all show examples of artists from the modern indie genre

The colour scheme used on the cover includes lots of red which is the default colour for the masthead of this magazine so the audience can easily recognise NME.

The body language and facial expression of Dizzee Rascal is very excited and welcoming, his arms open crouched down making the audience want to read all about him.

The cover successfully looks very busy without being cramped full of text the background has lots of bright, bold colours on anyone looking at this will be intrigued as to what’s inside as it looks as though it is packed full of exciting things.

Of the audience of this issue 73% are male and just 27% are female, the target marker is aimed at men between 17-30, the average age being 25.The social class of the audience are professionals in there career and white collar jobs these high class jobs would mean that the audience is likely to have spare money to spend on things like this magazine. The magazine costs £2.40 and is a weekly issue. Each week 56.284 copies are sold on average.

NME stand for new musical express, the magazine is published every Wednesday since 1952 and is £2.40. The NME editor is Krissi Murison and it belongs to the company IPC.

NME started as a music newspaper, and gradually moved toward a magazine format during the 1980s. It was the first British paper to include a singles chart, on the 14th November 1952 edition. In the 1970s it became the best-selling British music newspaper

An online version of NME was launched in 1996. Today NME.COM has 5 million users per month.

A typical issue of NME is around 70 pages long and includes indie/rock music . Artists such as; Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Nirvana and The Rolling Stones. The magazine usually starts with a section on “News” which contains articles and information regarding the recent news in the music industry. Normally followed by interviews and features on specific artists, along with a page for letters from the readers. Further on in NME, there is also a section dedicated to reviews which comments on new albums, singles and concerts of that week. Near the end of the magazine, pages are filled with adverts for upcoming tours and gigs as well as competitions.
