EEddiittoorrss’’ CCoommmmeenntt Hello everyone,

I have been involved in our club since 1996. During this time I have seen committees come and go, various

issues that have come up that some said will be the “demise of Pre65” get sorted out and filter away into nothing,

racing numbers go from 10 cars to 30 and back again, one-day club events to high profile international meetings,

tire issues, on-track damage, finger pointing, fuel issues, protests etc. You name it, I have pretty much seen it all.

This has been one of the more challenging years as you will all agree. Tyres are a big issue, average grid

numbers is another, us versus them attitudes is yet another. I personally feel the club does not need wholesale

changes, just the odd tweak here and there as we have always done. When issues come up, those issues need to

be resolved for the good of the club and every member.

We would all like to see these problems just go away. It is easy to blame the committee, other drivers, the

technical department, Kumho etc. But my point is this, the club needs constructive input from all the members to

sort through the season to season issues as they come up. It is much easier to complain and moan about

everything than to stand for President, Secretary, Technical or any other committee position and find solutions to

those problems.

Camaraderie amongst some members may be lower than in the past couple of seasons, but aren’t we are meant to

be having fun…… in a competitive sort of way? There always has been and always will be a bit of niggle,

rumour and attitude amongst drivers and that what makes our sport what it is. I actually enjoyed a bit of in-pits

mongrel, but I never took anything personally, it was always good for a laugh so perhaps everyone just needs to

lighten up a bit. We are all just mates racing old shit at the end of the day….

The only consistency in all this is the people within our club. Drivers and members from all walks of life who,

although they are “enemies” on the track or at an AGM, I consider to be life-long friends. None of us want to see

the club go backwards of fail completely – quite the opposite is correct.

I understand there will be some vacancies on the committee this AGM, so give it some thought how you can

give back to the club at committee level, don’t be shy - put you hand up and help Pre65 go from strength-to-

strength into the future. We have a very unique formula that works on many levels and there will always be

room for your ideas and input.

.

I have been following the email correspondences regarding people’s ideas on how we can boost our numbers in

seasons to come. These brain-storming sessions are really helpful with some good ideas that future committees

and we as a club can explore. Just remember they are only suggestions with no right or wrong answers. Nothing

will happen with them until they are collated, researched, submitted to an AGM, voted upon, and passed by

majority at an AGM.

On a more personal note, I was very sorry to hear the passing of Dave Ross. For those of you who didn’t know

Dave, he was the ultimate competitor in Class C, every season Dave was the one to beat in his Anglia, very

talented driver who had a natural race-craft in abundance. Dave and myself in the late 1990’s had both on track

and off track battles, he was a real pain in the ass at times but I had the upmost respect for Dave as a driver and

competitor - we didn’t swap paint once (he wrote the odd protest letter to the committee though so we probably

felt like it). One of Dave’s final wishes was to have his ashes scattered before a Pre65 race at Manfield. This will

be organised for next season. Dave will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

From the Captains Corner – Errol Hamley

Hi everybody.

Hampton Downs - what a meeting, we had just about everything that you could possibly have at a race

meeting...super-hot temperatures, fast racing, red flags, restarts and damage.

It was extremely bad luck for Jeff Warn and Steve Hallett with major damage to both cars, luckily both drivers

escaped serious injury but certainly had some bruising.

Just as well we have 8 - 9 weeks before the next meeting at Pukekohe on 15 - 17 April.

Looks as though the Pukekohe meeting will be an action packed meeting with the V8 Super Tourers, GT 1 and

GT 2, Pre 65, Trucks etc. Guarantee there will be a good crowd so I do hope we have an excellent turnout of

Pre65 entries for this meeting.

Don't forget the AGM on Saturday 28 May at the Novotel in Hamilton. Come and vote on the Remits,

committee and have a good time (don't forget the book your accommodation).

If you are interested in being on the Committee next year, put your name forward. It is quite frustrating hearing

the negative comments being thrown around....get out and help your Club rather than moaning behind each other

back.

Let be positive and get out and enjoy motor racing.

ERROL

P.S - 45 has major engine drama with a split bore. Hopefully I will be there for Pukekohe.

TTeecchhnniiccaall RReeppoorrtt From the desk of the Series Scrutineer - Shane Hobman

Hi All,

Cars are all looking good and well presented. A credit to you and your crew.

Here are some reminders:

1. Fire extinguishers, min 4 kg, must be in your pit area at all times.

2. Check brakes shoes, brake pads, ball joints & steering before each race meeting.

3. Just remember you cannot remove casting numbers from heads, blocks & gear boxes.

4. Please check your car for missing pieces i.e. grills, bumpers etc and also, those of you who have cut-outs in

the body of your car, please fill them in.

And, on a final note, please be patient on the tyre subject - we are still investigating our options and, hopefully,

will have some final answers to share with you at the AGM.

Stop Press - TYRES!!

Blair’s have advised us that the 15 inch Kumho tyres (our wets) are now available.

A note from the Secretary - Mark Stretton

Hello everyone,

AGM

AGM and Dinner Prize Giving this year as you know will be at the Novotel Hamilton on the 28th May. This year

dinner tickets will cost $50.00 per person this will include:

Buffett Style Meal

Bar Tab of Wine and Beer

Chris Gunn and his band will play the night away.

So please make sure you mark your calendar that weekend with “Pre65” and come along to what will be a great

night.

TYRES

Housekeeping as you all know one set of Hankook Tyres was allowed for A Class this season, there will be no

exceptions to that. We had some talk about running the Kumho S700 Tyre for C and D Class, I can report after

some debate it was decided to leave this for this season. It is the committee’s view that the Tyre debate needs to

be looked at before the 2016-17 season with the view of bringing some parity back between the classes.

Communication with Blair’s or Kumho needs to go through Technical, this is for everyone please.

If you feel you have something to offer and would like to volunteer some time start thinking about getting onto

the Committee as the AGM is just around the corner. Being part of the committee is a great way of being

involved in Pre 65.

Cheers

Mark Stretton

FOOTNOTE: Mark has sold the orange Cortina to put time and development into his Anglia. The Cortina has a

ton of history and the good news the car will be staying in the North Island. The cars new owner, Whanganui

driver Pat Dillon (some may remember Pat from a few years ago driving a green Anglia before the car was

damaged in a Targa event) should be at the next Pukekohe round.

Greetings from Whanganui,

Somewhere in Whanganui (don’t forget the “h”) there are six 318 - 2 piece Chrysler crankshafts and 3 knackered

blocks. Various other bits for sale if anyone is interested, the selling point is you don’t have to build an engine as

we can give the purchaser parts that are already knackered therefore saving them money by cutting out the

middle man (the engine builder).

A real bargain for someone!!

Also, by buying these bits there is more savings in race fuel, entry fee etc, we also have some old HD engine bits

that we can throw in to sweeten the deal, I also heard that somewhere in town there is the remains of a Nova as

well,

MMyy TTwwoo CCeennttss…… Living the Dream - By Gary Rush

Hi All just thought I’d write up my “living the dream” story of doing Hampton Downs 23rd / 24th January,

Highlands Park Cromwell 30th / 31st January and then Taupo 6th / 7th February. Phew!

I built a brand new engine (well out of second parts) and finally got it going for Hampton Downs. After cylinder

liners cracking for the past 2 seasons I luckily spotted 2 missing holes in the head gasket. Yes, after years of

trouble I finally spotted 2 of the water holes were not punched in the head gaskets. When offered up to the head

the holes were covered so plain old didn’t notice until building new engine. As I say lucky.

Off to Hampton with new engine totally confident all would be well where the transaxle failed in a rather

dramatic fashion on the start line of race 1 Saturday. I took the car home and fitted a spare close ratio 4 speed I

had at home then back to the track Sunday morning to do the race and ensure the bloody thing with brand new

motor was working before heading off to Cromwell on Tuesday. Man it’s a long way but I can assure everyone

if you are serious about your motorsport Highlands Park is a must do.

My god what amazing venue. The Jurassic Park of motorsport. Tongue in cheek here as there are life sized

dinosaurs in the forest surrounding the track. Actually saw some families with back packs doing the “spot the

dinosaur” trek. Pretty cool. Cool car museum. Large pond with “Bond girl” doing aquatic acrobatics with jet sky

powered water blasters. P 52 fly by / stunts during lunch. Did I mention the Bond girl?

And I haven’t even gone into the roller coaster ride of a race track. Don’t be scared if you have a small car. It is a

small car track and the Imp faired very well. The “bus stop “, the tunnel, the race through the forest, the bridge,

the dips and swerves. So cool. The South Island Pre 65 sponsored and found sponsors for a marque for the whole

club and as usual with our South Island brothers were a very friendly crew. Everyone made an effort to come

and thank me for making the trip and I had some great social outings.

I didn’t get to speak to Tony Quinn but he put on BBQ with free beers and sausages at the end of racing on the

day Saturday. Big thanks Tony. I was totally impressed with the level of professionalism of the staff at the venue

who also came along and made a real effort to get around to have chat at the bar b BBQ Then big photo session.

We had 26 cars in Pre 65 and put on a great show. Mike Sench track manager said it was such a success they are

hoping Pre 65 will attend next year. As I say “you’re crazy if you don’t go”.

Then long haul back up to Whangaparoa to get “her in doors” and then off down to Taupo for TRS.

More fun racing and mainly I think a world record for a Hillman Imp that travelled over 5000 k’s did 3 race

meetings in 3 consecutive weekends.

Awesome can’t wait for next summer and yes I’ll do it all again.

Cheers Gary Rush

BBllaasstt FFrroomm PPaasstt Race Report Manfield March 2008

A field of 21 entries for the final points round of the North Island Pre65 Saloon Series at Manfeild on 29th March. This was

a Tier 2 meeting with television coverage sponsored by Watson Haworth Motors, Te Awamutu. The major trophy winners

had been established at Taupo the round before but there were many placings up for grabs in most classes.

Graham and Justin Haworth were back in the Mustangs after a long hiatus & Dave Taylor boosted the Class “A” field in

his AP6 V8 Valiant – his first meeting of the season. A few cars showing the odd small battle scar after a very long and

hard fought series, but all and all the standard of presentation has kept up all year.

Qualifying – Justin Haworth wasted no time putting the Mustang on Pole with a 1.17.3 (actually going 1.3 quicker than his

own lap record of 1.18.6) from a hard charging Glenn Williams and Andrew Stevenson in the 1.21 bracket. Fourth place on

the grid was Bill McKinnon in the Chevy Nova. 3rd row saw Dave Taylor with a great drive from Graham Haworth in the

red Mustang complaining about front brake issues. Next place was old rivals Mike Johnston (Holden) and Peter Stevenson

(Anglia). Rounding out the top 10 on the grid on row 5 were Wanganui team mates Tim Patterson & Shane Hobman.

Race 1 – Warm and dry with little breeze. Justin Haworth and Andrew Stevenson with both with blinding starts made it to

turn 1 together with Stevenson right on the Mustangs bumper through the infield. Horsepower will always win on the

straights though, which gave Justin a 200 meter break on the field for the duration of the race. This left Stevenson to battle

it out with Glenn Williams in the Falcon and Graham Haworth in his Mustang (now with his earlier brake problems fixed).

Both the V8 cars getting the better of Stevenson through the straights with the Anglia closing under brakes and in the

twisty infield. Bill McKinnon in the Nova struggling with gearbox problems which would eventually side-line him for the

weekend. Williams and G Haworth having a race long battle with Haworth pipping Williams at the finish by 3 tenths only.

Stevenson further back in 4th place from his father Peter and season long rival Mike Johnston (HD Holden) who drove a

nice race in 6th. Dave Taylor in his Valiant made it through to 6th followed by Class B Champion for 2008 Shane Hobman.

Tim Patterson and Wayne Davies (Anglia) rounded out your top 10. Great racing further down the field in Class C – if not

a little too close in places. The 3 Cortinas of Elmiger, Robinson and Arthurs having a good dice early but a coming

together at the hairpin between Robinson and Arthurs saw a drive through penalty for Arthurs after spinning Robinson. All

and All great racing!

Race 2 – Handicap Start. The first rain that the Manawatu has had all year! Very greasy and wet conditions. The handicaps

set for a dry track left little chance for the V8 cars to get through with zero traction. Club Stalwart Gary Rush in the

Hillman Imp got through early hand kept a healthy lead of around 8 seconds until the finish. Jimmy Arthurs kept the

spectators happy with 3 spins in the esses, Richard Hill with a very big loose in turn 2, Campbell Gould (Humber 80) Albie

Collier (Cortina), Wayne Davies (Anglia) also having offs. Chris Gunn had his Valiant AP5 on 3 wheels – but in a bad

way. Loose wheel nuts before the race saw the wheel depart early in the race side-lining that car. Andrew Stevenson

relishing the conditions in the Anglia made it up to about 4th before a rare engine woe on the penultimate lap side-lined him

for the weekend. When all the mud/grass/rain had settled it was Gary Rush 8 seconds clear of Alan Power (Anglia) and

Wayne Davies in 3rd. Fourth place and a great drive from Dave Robinson from fellow Cortina driver Tony Elmiger. 6th &

7th went to Mike Johnston and Tim Patterson in the Holden’s. Taylor, Hill and Williams rounded out the top 10.

Race 3 – Reverse Grid. With the rain still falling and the track still very slippery the grid was compressed. This was the

best race of the weekend with battles within battles throughout the entire field. The straights had a drying line witch made

the larger capacity cars have a glimmer of hope in putting down some respectable times. Early on Tim Patterson fast

approaching Higgins corner locked all 4 wheels up and slid into the back of the Humber 80 of Campbell Gould. Gould able

to continue but lost about 12 places. Jimmy Arthurs spinning again gave the crowed something to cheer about. Justin

Haworth after a few laps on his own came up upon Williams and Graham Haworth and the 3 picked off half of the field

within 4 laps. Justin getting the better of the traffic and making it through to 5th spot (with some very hairy “moments” on

the way) and producing the fastest time of the race with a 1.28.9. Gary Rush made it 2 from 2 in the wet and putting in the

3rd fastest lap in the process. 2nd place with Wayne Davies 14 seconds back in 2nd. Albie Collier and Richard Hill next,

Justin Haworth in 5th from Chris Gunn in 6th. Seventh saw Shane Hobman with a good wet result from Robinson and Peter

Stevenson. Glenn Williams rounding out the 10.

Discussion Document

I was asked to do some crystal ball gazing and talking to members and interested non-members, as to how Pre65

can retain our Pre65 profile, while expanding our racing members, the question is: What do we need to do to

increase of our hard core of members?

One obvious answer is to include Pre65 Production Sports and GT cars (no Specials) as an easy way of

increasing the pool of Pre65 cars by simply allowing Production Sports and GT cars, very little would have to be

done to the constitution and regulations to accommodate these cars. Change the name from Pre65 Racing

Saloons to Pre65 Touring Cars.

If you go back to the period sports cars and GT cars had always competed with saloons, the best example was in

1960’s-70/s British Touring Car (BTC) race series and many of the American Road Race series’

I have also had thoughts on increasing the engine availability, and keeping our associated costs down, examples:

a controlled 1600cc and 302 Ford engines see below.

Class A

Ford 302ci production block (not Motorsport) steel 302 crank, 302 heads, restricted bore to +0.40-thou

max. Attempt to reduce the cost and encourage more cars back, same concept with Chev and Mopar with

controlled bore and heads or restrictor plates.

To encourage these additional cars maybe a Class A, Division 2

Class B

Allow later model more readily available engines, Holden’s optioned with the 202 with 8 port head,

Vauxhalls with Holden 3.3 with 12 port head or Chevy II 230, Valliant’s 245 hemi, Falcons 250ci. with

controlled bore, steel heads no alloys

Class C:

Create another division of class C cars.

Division 1 for all existing class C cars

Division 2 for Anglia’s and Cortina’s with 1600cc Cross flow engines. With controlled bore to 84 mm,

reason cost.

Improve tyre selection, full slick or semi slick

Class D:

Improve tyre selection, full slick or semi slick

All under 1400cc sports cars. MG Midget, Triumph Spitfire, A/Healy Sprite added to class D to increase

the field

Class E

Improve tyre selection, full slick or semi slick

Sports cars 1401cc to 2000cc, normally regarded as Class C would come under Class E division 1

Sports cars to from 2001cc to 2850cc Class E division 2.

Encourage additional cars into this class.

Page 17: NNeewwsslleetttteerr - Business Catalystpre65.businesscatalyst.com/assets/newsletter-march-2016.pdfI understand there will be some vacancies on the committee this AGM, so give it some

17

Additional cars from existing classes I.E. Mini’s

Encourage the Super Mini’s to race with Pre65, but under their own championship, or as a separate class,

the reality is they share our grid and start format this requires no changes to Pre65, all that is happening is

we are sharing the grid with Mini’s to increase the field.

The idea would be to encourage these competitors to join Pre65 and alter their cars to full P65 spec.

Sports cars coming under Class B and Class A engine classification maybe with some form of weight penalty or

handicap as a form of control, subject to type and potential of the car in question.

Only Pre65 Production Sports and GT cars would be permitted. No specials?

Quite simple, a few changes to the constitution to include Production Sport and GT’s, Change of Name to Pre65

Touring Cars, I have checked and it is available if we want it.

I have listed as many Pre65 sports and GT cars I can think of as examples possible, I have listed these under

Probable, Possible and You must have far too much money.

Probable

Austin Healy Sprite MG: Midget, MGA, and MGB – MGBGT

Triumph Spitfire, GT6, TR2, 3, 4. Sunbeam Alpine

Alfa Giulietta, Giula Fiat Spider 1600

Possible but not really likely

Austin Healey 100-4, 100-6, 3000 Lotus Elite

Mercedes Series II Pagoda Roof SL230, SL250, SL280 Toyota 2000

Sunbeam Tiger Morgan Plus 4

Porsche 911, VW 1500 Karman-Ghia

Tatra 603T Honda 600

Datsun Fairlady Prince Skyline

Daimler SP 250 Dart Ginetta G4R

There will be others I have not thought about

Don’t be Stupid; you must have far too much money?

1957 – 1965 Corvette Stingrays 1959-65 AC Cobra

Mercedes Series 1 SL190, SL250 SL300 Gull Wing, Roadster E – Type Jag series 1 & 2

Porsche 356 Aston Martin DB2 - DB4

Ferrari Lamborghini

De Tomaso Etc. Etc.

Get your grey cells working as to how we can extend Pre65 for the intermediate and long term future?

This is a discussion paper so discuss it, come up with your own ideas, just remember we are Pre65, we must

retain the look and age of our cars, while keep looking at the mechanicals to keep Pre65 viable.

With the remit dead line coming up at the end of February, members may wish to put some of the above into a

remit.

Alex Davie

Page 18: NNeewwsslleetttteerr - Business Catalystpre65.businesscatalyst.com/assets/newsletter-march-2016.pdfI understand there will be some vacancies on the committee this AGM, so give it some

18

MMeemmbbeerrss’’ FFoorruumm Following the above discussion document from Alex regarding ideas for improvements/going forward for Pre65,

here are snippets of correspondences received from members with ideas/feedback on the subject.

“I’m happy to see / entice more cars into the class but there are already plenty of Pre65 cars out there. Why

aren’t they coming racing? I’m guessing because (a) the “carrot” is not big enough i.e. the championship is

becoming stale, same old same old…”

“What seems to be working and working well for BMW’s and GTNZ is to have an open class and time related

penalties. Too fast you move up or we could have an open class to allow the use of late or aftermarket engines. A

max allowable lap time could be in place to stop a horsepower race…..”

“I’d like to see a change to our points system so that the overall champion could come from any of the classes.

In other words accumulate points to the overall championship with in your class. Each class would have to have

a minimum number of entries so that for example Class D drivers wouldn’t run away with the championship as

there are only 2 “D” class cars. I would suggest a minimum of 5 cars per class to collect points for overall

champion. If there are less than 5 cars in your class then you would be moved into the next class up, in Class

D’s case “C” class to accumulate points towards overall champion there……”

“In my opinion are plenty of cars out there within our age range so we need to work on getting those cars out of

garages ....My old valiant is still actually running with my hand grenade 318 engine in it, We haven't been

racing this season due to work and family commitments, but if someone had actually rang me to say numbers

were an issues at a meeting I could have made my car available. I think it’s all about communication …..”

“A caped lap time (In my opinion) is probably the best answer, then we can run a period looking engine e.g. 302

440, 350, 3.3 Commodore ford looking Anglia/Cortina engine etc. Maybe make the penalty for breaking out loss

of points for that race…..”

“How about a class with in a class e.g. the classics for instant. Or the minis as a class could perhaps race with

us. This would keep Pre 65 Pre 65……”

“One thing I have picked up on, restrictor plates, they made the restrictor plates in Mini Stocks (1200 Datsun

engines) smaller this season, It didn’t make any difference to engine performance, they just retuned and are

doing the same lap times(or better) as last year……”

“Just a thought, we are talking about minis and MG’s etc. Should we somehow make contact with these classes?

Or identify firstly just who we could consider and see if they have the same problems or are interested in even

talking with us? Then at least we would know that we have other interested parties. I am not saying let’s go and

bring them in. Only let’s see if they would be interested? If they aren’t then we have saved a heap of discussion

and people getting emotional about certain facts......”

“When Pre65 was founded in the SI the cars were 15 years old (Today under the same premise it would be

Pre01). When Pre65 was founded in the NI the cars were 25 years old (Today under the same premise it would

be Pre91). The cost to build a competitive Mustang today from scratch would be in excess of $200000

The cost to buy an average mk1 Cortina 2 door shell only is now $12000+. All old 1960s Australian cars are

rapidly appreciating in value. The cost of a meeting for the average competitor is in excess of $2000 for the

weekend…..that is if nothing goes wrong/gets broken…..”

Page 19: NNeewwsslleetttteerr - Business Catalystpre65.businesscatalyst.com/assets/newsletter-march-2016.pdfI understand there will be some vacancies on the committee this AGM, so give it some

“Motor racing is expensive, in fact NZ is bloody expensive, but it is not just that, as already said people will find

away if interested enough. Maybe we aren't making it interesting enough, with all of the sponsorship money why

aren't we subsidising meetings or at least providing pit tents so we look less of a ragamuffin bunch….”

“How do we attract either old drivers back or more importantly for on-going survival, new drivers to the

club?.....”

“Advertising is something that we haven't done, Why not approach various car clubs, classic cars, VCC, open

days, gift certificates of family memberships, we need to be looking outside our circle and stop waiting for

people to come to us, Look at using professionals to advertise the club or at least look into outsourcing

Find extra sponsors to offset costs of advertising it doesn't have to be money we could get product or services

which may appeal to many companies. What about a club car so that new drivers have a vehicle to use whilst

they source their own or build/repair theirs. Vehicle maintained by the club, with then you break you repair

clause?.....”

“In my opinion, we need to be running a treaded type race tyre,(such as the kumho) not a slick type as this

means an added cost of another set of rims 2 sets of tyres 1 for dry 1 for wet, what happens if the dry tyres don’t

get used or only run once or twice a season?, and they get passed their best, we will be buying another set of

wets to compete & discarding a tyre with tread left that has gone too hard to race on, going to one tyre suits all

conditions will surely lower the cost to race, I understand that we can’t stop some of us spending but if we can

offer a great not to expensive class, we may attract new members…..”

“Something Else to maybe consider here is that the name PRE65 is really a brand that is recognized. So I

wonder if whatever we do, we should maybe somehow work around retaining that brand…..”

“Establish specific rules with classes. What works for the V8 class doesn’t necessarily work/needed for Class C

etc and vice-versa. Example; Minis/Class D want LSD diffs then the Class D guys get together and submit it.

Perhaps have a committee/technical rep from each class to oversee it. Basically have class variations to our

Pre65 rules…..”

“The biggest pool to draw from is the current race cars (not just Pre65 stuff) but minis, historic, classic,

northern/central muscle cars, etc. By tweaking our class rules to fit these in (use minis as an example) may have

an effect…..”

“Do we need to redo our programme so the “slower” cars are given a bit more? If the championship is viewed

to be usually won by a V8 (even though this is not true) what about making all our races handicapped…..”

“Employ a sponsorship agent to get sponsorship for each round (they take a commission of what we receive).

Use this money to subsidise a tent/marquee that takes all of our cars at each track so we are all together each

round…..”

“Think about raising our year to Pre67. This may attract new cars to be built. Our cars are 51years old. If

people say “Escorts will blow away Anglias” then explain why? Rack & Pinion? Allow Anglias to use the same

steering etc…..”

“A register is a good idea. Plus I like the idea of us all pitting together in tents. But once again it has to be

affordable for everyone. I think we have to acknowledge that just maybe we have to widen our horizons with

respect to pre65 and possibly look at a later year and different blocks etc. Maybe we shouldn’t be so precious

that we ham string ourselves? Let’s face it, all we want to do is race our cars and have fun…..”

Series Articles, Amended rule 6.3 – Replica Panels

Currently Reads –

6.3 Fibreglass replica panels may replace original bolt-on type front mudguards providing the replica panel is

identical in appearance and weight to the original panel.

Note: All mudguards and moulds to be inspected and approved by the Committee

Change to-

6.3 Fibreglass replica panels may replace original bolt-on type front mudguards providing the replica panel is

identical in appearance and weight to the original panel. Welded on front guards may be replaced with fibreglass

guards, but they must be glued and bolted to be in line with the other model's replacement front guards.

If front guards are welded from factory, they must be glued and bolted on.

If front guards are only bolted on from factory they may be only bolted on.

Note: All mudguards and moulds to be inspected and approved by the Committee

Reason – It is getting harder to find replacement front guards for some models.
