Acts 2:42-47: This passage summarizes the daily life of the earliest Christian com-munity in Jerusalem. It teaches us how they lived as one community by helping one another, sharing what they had, and eating their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart, praising God and enjoying favor with all the people.1 Peter 1:3-9: The First Letter of Peter is addressed to the first Christians to strengthen their faith and hope. It is a letter of hope through Jesus’ resurrection and a reminder to them; because of the faith they will have salvation of their souls.John 20:19-31: Jesus is the incarnate word of God who has revealed the Father to us. Jesus was sent by the Father. This is a common affirmation in the Gospel of John. Jesus was sent into the world to reveal the Father, teach, and gather disciples. Furthermore, he declared that after his return to the Father, he would send his dis-ciples to continue his ministry. Now that is being fulfilled. “You may come to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name.”

Mensaje de parte de Padre Thomas Rush, OMI, PárrocoQueridos miembros de la parroquia de Santa Rosa,En esta temporada de Pascua muy singular, continuamos celebrando el mismo misterio de nuestra fe que siempre hemos celebrado: Jesús el Señor ha sido resucitado de la muerte por un Padre amoroso que nos ha dado toda la vida la cual no puede ser vencida por la oscuridad, el mal, la indiferencia de un mundo que en sus elecciones libres prefiere con demasiada frecuencia las fuerzas de la muerte sobre las fuerzas de la vida.La muerte física parece estar muy cerca de nosotros este año con la epi-demia de coronavirus y todas las cifras que se nos presentan en casi todos los sentidos. También somos bombardeados con muchos otros informes de amenazas a nuestras vidas y la plenitud de la vida que todos buscamos de una forma u otra: ya sea la pérdida o la incertidumbre del empleo y los peligros que enfrentan quienes cuidan a los afectados y nos ayudan a to-dos a llegar a una forma de vida más normal.Los eventos que estamos viviendo son, en muchos sentidos, imágenes de la lucha de la muerte y la vida que celebramos en nuestras liturgias. Hay una gran cantidad de belleza en las muchas formas en que la bondad y el amor continúan mostrándose a nosotros.De eso se trata nuestra liturgia hoy día. Las fuerzas de la vida que se mani-fiestan en nuestro Creador y en nuestro Salvador amoroso prevalecen fi-nalmente sobre la muerte, el mal, la pérdida y la destrucción. De eso se trata nuestra fe. Es lo que continuamos celebrando durante esta temporada de Pascua.Nuestra celebración de la misericordia inmensa de Dios para todos no-sotros es parte de lo que celebramos. Nuestra necesidad de misericordia es la necesidad de encontrar lo que nos puede sacar de la tumba en la que nos colocamos por nuestro rechazo al amor y a la bondad de Dios. La amo-rosa misericordia de Dios es, en muchos sentidos, una invitación personal para que cada uno de nosotros a vivir a plenitud de la vida y del amor a que Dios nos destinó y que desea con tanta persistencia que logramos.Que el Señor, en su amor y misericordia, toque cada una de sus vidas y les mantenga regresando hacia él mientras se apoyan el uno al otro en sus hogares y más allá de sus hogares, mientras él les ofrece oportunidades para vivir el amor y la compasión en este momento único de la historia humana.Sinceramente suyo en Cristo y María Inmaculada.

Thomas Rush, OMI PastorDear Members of Santa Rosa Parish,In this unique Easter Season we continue to celebrate the same mystery of our faith that we have always celebrated: Jesus the Lord has been raised from the dead by a loving Father who has given us all life that cannot be ultimately overcome by the darkness, the evil, the indifference of a world that in its free choices too often prefers the forces of death over the forces of life.Physical death seems all too close to us this year with the coronavirus epi-demic and all the figures that are presented to us at just about every turn. We also are bombarded with many other reports of threats to our lives and the fullness of life that we all in one way or another seek: whether be the loss or uncertainty of employment, the dangers faced by those who care for the afflicted and help us all to get to a more normal way of living.The events that we are living through are in many ways images of the strug-gle of death and life that we celebrate in our liturgies. There is a great deal of beauty in the many ways that goodness and love continue to show them-selves to us. That is what our liturgy is about today. The forces of life that manifest them-selves in our Creator and in our loving Savior ultimately prevail over death, evil, loss & destruction. That is what our faith is about. It is what we continue to celebrate during this Easter Season.Our celebration of the unbounded mercy of God for all of us is part of what we celebrate. Our need for mercy is a need to find what can bring us out of the tomb we put ourselves in by our rejection of God’s love and goodness. God’s loving mercy is in many ways a personal invitation for each of us to live the fullness of life and love that God destined us for and desires so per-sistently that we attain.May the Lord in his love and mercy touch each of your lives and keep you turning to him as you turn to each other in your homes and beyond your homes as he offers you opportunities to live love and compassion in this unique moment of human history.Sincerely yours in Christ and Mary Immaculate.

Hearts to Serve: Archdiocese of Los Angeles is helping those in need during Covid-19 Pandemic, especially the elderly, homebound, and pregnant women. Services provided include: grocery or medicine delivery to homes, provision of food and other necessities from local food pantries to those that might not be able to af-ford it at this time, and guidance for additional questions that need larger answers. Hearts to Serve hotline (855) 423-6780 from 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Providence Community Health has joined the efforts of Hearts to Serve by in-cluding health professionals such as social workers and registered nurses to help answer the hotline calls and to offer additional services to help navigate the health care system and have someone to talk with if they are experiencing anxiety. The Providence phone line for emotional support is (818) 847-3828 from 12–4 pm.
