Dieu observait ce qui se

passait sur la terre. Il vit

que les hommes

faisaient de plus en plus

de mal et Il en eut le

cœur très affligé.

God looked down on the

earth and saw that

people were becoming

more and more evil. This

made Him very sad.

Mais Noé était un

homme droit, fidèle à

Dieu.

However, Noah was

a good man and

remained faithful to

God.

Un jour, Dieu dit à Noé : « Je vais

provoquer une grande inondation,

pour anéantir tout ce qui vit. Tout

ce qui se trouve sur la terre

expirera. Mais toi, construis une

arche et ta famille sera sauvée. »

Noé obéit et fit tout comme Dieu

le lui avait ordonné.

One day, God said to Noah, “I am

going to send a great flood to

cover the earth and destroy all that

I have made. Build an ark for you

and your family and you will all be

saved.”

Noah obeyed and did what God

commanded.

Alors Dieu dit à Noé: « Prends sept

couples de chaque sorte d'animaux

purs et un couple

de tous les

animaux impurs.

Prends aussi

sept couples de

chaque sorte

d'oiseaux. »

Noé fit comme

Dieu le lui avait

ordonné. Puis

Noé entra dans

l'arche avec sa

femme, ses fils et

ses belles-filles

et le Seigneur

ferma la porte derrière Noé.

God then told Noah, “Bring seven

pairs of each clean animal and one

pair of each

unclean animal

on board the

ark. Also bring

in seven pairs

of each kind of

bird.”

Noah did as

God said. Then

Noah entered

the ark with his

wife, his sons

and his son’s

wives. Once

they were on

board, God closed the door.

Il se mit à pleuvoir sur la terre. Le niveau de l'eau monta et l'arche fut

soulevée au-dessus du sol et se mit à flotter. Puis le niveau monta de plus

en plus et l'arche partit à la dérive sur l'eau. Le niveau monta toujours plus,

jusqu'à ce que les plus hautes montagnes qui existent soient entièrement

recouvertes.

Then it began to rain. The water rose and lifted the ark off the ground. The

water kept rising and the ark started to float. The water rose yet more, until

even the highest mountains were covered by the great flood.

La pluie allait durer

quarante jours et

quarante nuits. Seul

Noé survécut et,

avec lui, ceux qui

étaient dans l'arche.

It rained for forty

days and forty

nights, Only Noah,

his family and the

animals on the ark

survived.

After forty days, the rain stopped

and the water gradually started

going down. Noah sent out a dove

to see if the

water had

dried, but the

dove returned

because she

found no place

to land.

After a week,

Noah sent out

the dove again.

This time the

dove came

back with an

olive branch in

its mouth.

Noah knew that there was finally dry

land once again.

Au bout de quarante jours, la pluie cessa de tomber et les eaux se retirèrent progressivement de la terre. Noé laissa partir une colombe, pour voir si le niveau de l'eau avait baissé. Mais elle ne trouva aucun endroit où se percher ; elle revint donc à l'arche, auprès de Noé.

Noé attendit une semaine et la laissa de nouveau partir. La colombe revint auprès de lui vers le soir ; elle tenait dans son bec une jeune feuille d'olivier. Alors Noé sut que la surface du sol était sèche.

Then Noah, his wife, his sons and

his son’s wives all went out of the

ark. The animals and birds also

went out from

the ark with

their families.

God blessed

Noah and his

sons. He told

them, "I am

putting a

rainbow in the

sky as a sign of

My promise to

never send a

flood of water to

cover the whole

earth again."

Alors Noé sortit de l'arche, avec ses

fils, sa femme et ses belles-filles. Tous

les animaux et les oiseaux aussi

sortirent du

bateau par

familles.

Dieu bénit

Noé et ses fils

en leur disant :

« J'ai placé

l'arc-en-ciel et

je vous fais

une promesse :

Jamais plus la

grande

inondation ne

supprimera la

vie sur terre. »
