Noise:Any sound which is loud, un-wanted or unpleasant . The sound which is uncomfortable and causes mental strain is called noise. the noise is measured in decibel denoted by “dB”

While, the sound which gives pleasure and comfort to the listener is called sweet sound.


Sound:Form of energy emitted by a vibrating body, and on reaching the ear it causes the sensation of hearing through nerves.

Noise Pollution:


Noise pollution is displeasing human or machine created sound that disrupts the environment.

It is simply defined as "a group of laud, non-harmonious sounds or vibrations that are unpleasant and irritating to ear and have seriously harmful effects on the environment

The noise level should be between 40 to 60 decibel for the comfort to human ear.

Effects Of Noise at Different Decibel Levels

Sources Of Noise


Domestic Noise: It includes the operation of radio, television, record player etc with high volume

Public Noise: It includes the operation of loud speakers with high volume. It may also include use of vacuum cleaner for a long time

Traffic Noise: It includes the movements and horns of vehicle like buses, trucks, cars etc with high speed along the roads of the towns or cities

Construction Noise: It includes the sound created by the concrete mixer machines, mosaic polishing machine and vibrator etc

Industrial Noise: It includes sound created by stone crushing factory, glass factory, spinning machines, weaving machines, aluminum factory, motor garage etc

Textile Noise Pollution Control



The textile industrial noise may be avoided by keeping the industries far from residential areas

In spinning noise can be reduced by elastomeric spindle elastomeric spindles and elastomeric ring holders.

Proper maintenance and lubrication of machine parts Replacement of metal parts with rubber or nylon coated

material instead of metal. Tightening of loose parts to avoid vibration



Use anti vibration rubber sheet Use vibration isolators to prevent noise transmitted through
