Nokia has around 101,982 employees across 120 countries, sales in more than 150 countries and annual revenues of around €30 billion. It is theworld's second-largest mobile phone maker by 2012 unit sales (after Samsung), with a global market share of 22.5% in the first quarter of that year

Nokia has a joint venture with Siemens, Nokia Siemens Networks, which provides telecommunications network equipment and services.

At the end of the year 2007, Nokia managed to sell almost 440 million mobile phones which accounted for 40% of all global mobile phones sales. In 2011, Nokia's market share in the mobile phone market had dropped to 27% (417 million phones).[

In April 2004, Nokia released its first touch screen phone, the Nokia 7710.
In September 2006, Nokia announced
the Nokia N95, a Symbian-powered slider smartphone. It was released in February 2007 as the first phone with a 5-megapixel camera. It became hugely popular.
