INTRODUCTION

The word Morph means:1.Transform quickly.2.Change shape. The ultimate functionality that nanotechnology might be capable of delivering to nokia morph-:Flexible materialsSelf cleaning surface.Nanasensors that can interact with the environment to

provide key information for anything.Nanoscale fibres provides a strechability.

History

The concept of NOKIA MORPH has been introduced to the global world at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City from February 24 to May 12 of 2008 as part of the"Design and the Elastic Mind" exhibition.

Collaboration between Nokia Research Center and Cambridge University Nanoscience Center in the UK.

Since the KAIST, developed a transparent resistive random access memory (TRRAM) the idea of morph technology seems to be growing.

NANO-ENABLED ENERGY

Nanotechnology holds out the possibility that the surface of a device will become a natural source of energy via a covering of “Nanograss” structures that harvest solar power.

a) ENHANCED ENERGY DENSITY BATTERIES-: – Nanostructured electrodes for very low

equivalent series R energy sources – New electrolyte solutions (ionic liquids) for

safe and high power batteries. Deformable and bendable structures

Page 5: Nokia Morph Final

b) Supercapacitors-Nanoenhanced dielectrics for separator

and high power capacitors.-ultra thin flexible structures for ultimately

ditributed energy storage and integration with battery structures.

c)Solar cell Research-Nanowire solar cells using networks.-Silicon solar cell production.

Page 6: Nokia Morph Final

• The nanowire solar cell is made up of three regions of silicon: one doped with extra positive charges [ p ], one doped with extra negative charges [ n ], and one with neither [ i ]

NanoGrass

Nanograss is used for harvesting solar power.

Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) using ZnO nanostructure that act as photovoltaic’s which

harvests solar energy.

Sensing surface

Nokia morph can sense its surrounding.

It provide information of temperature change to pollution.

Nanosensors are used for this purpose.

Nanosensors are any biological, chemical, or sensory points used to convey information about nanoparticles to the macroscopic world.

Haptic Surface Nokia Morph is provided by large area sensing surfaces using

piezoelectric nanowires. ZnO nanowires are used to produce the piezoelectric nanowire

arrays. ZnO exhibits properties like-: Uniaxial piezoelectronics. N-type semiconductor. Nokia is exploiting these qualities to achieve touch sensitive surface. coating of silicon,PET or glass with these nanowires the electrical

signals on the are being activated. Due to its transparent structures these Zno wires sit on the top of

displays.

Stretchable Surface

Embedded active electronics in elastic structures (sensors, actuators, circuitry)

Fibril proteins are woven into a 3-dimensional mesh that reinforces these elastic structures.

This elasticity enables devices to change shapes .

Nanoscale structures of the eletronics enables stretching.

ZnO nanowires act as flexible tactile arrays that enable flexible ability of Nokia Morph.

TRANSPARENT ELECTRONICS

Whole circuit inside Nokia Morph is transparent electronics.

The major platform for transparent electronics came into existence with the introduction of transparent resistive random access memory (TRRAM).

Developed by KOREAN ADVANCED INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (KAIST).

TRRAM records data by changing the resistance of a metal oxide film known as

resistive RAM.

SELF CLEANING

Nanostructured surfaces known as “Nanoflowers” provide the hydrophobicity to Morph that naturally repel water, dirt, and even fingerprints.

Elegant three-dimensional MoS2 nanoflowers were uniformly formed via heating a MoO2 thin film in a vapor sulfur atmosphere.

Tens to hundreds of petals were self- assembled within a single nanoflower.
