C. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Superannuated from the post of Chairman-cum-Managing Director of MECON

Ltd., schedule ‘A’ design, engineering & consultancy organization under Ministry

of Steel, Govt. of India on 31st July, 2013.

Was Holding additional charge of Managing Director of Metallurgical &

Engineering Consultants (Nigeria) Ltd., a joint venture company formed by

MECON Limited with Delta Steel Plant, Ajaokuta Steel Plant and Nigerian

Partners.

In the capacity as CMD, I was providing leadership for a large number of steel

projects like expansion of steel plants of SAIL and RINL, new Greenfield state of

art integrated steel plant of 3.0 MT capacity being set up by NMDC at Chattisgarh

and plants being installed by private entrepreneurs. Provided leadership to the

team in obtaining the Engineering and Project Management consultancy

assignment from NMDC for their 3MT Integrated Steel Plant at Nagarnar,

Chattisgarh.

In past one year, due to my personal indulgence in guiding the marketing efforts

followed by my visit, MECON could get an assignment from overseas for

providing engineering services in the area of Blast Furnace Complex from PT

Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk., Indonesia and preparation of Comprehensive

Project Report for Steel Plant / Power Plant / Technology Park for Nigerian

client. .

Before taking over as CMD, I was holding the post of Director (Engineering) and

was responsible for all SAIL Plants Modernization & Expansion, and various

New Greenfield / brown field Steel Projects both in Public & Private Sectors as

well as technological up-gradation in MECON. .

Has illustrious career spanning over 36 Years of outstanding contribution in the

field of design, consultancy, technology evaluation, process selection and

optimization in iron and steel, energy audit, marketing in the area of oil & gas and

infrastructure, Project Management.

I was actively involved in planning and recruitment of young and experienced

engineers and other professionals to take care of timely succession planning.

Under my leadership focused initiatives have been taken in the area of

Competency Mapping and its linkage with training and development plan of

employees. MECON being a knowledge based organization, I have emphasized

on evolving Knowledge Management System and same is in place. This has

resulted in IT enabled E-Archive System which is now a depository of more than

fifty thousand documents (engineering drawings, technical specifications etc.).

Contribution in the area of sustainable development

Being a premier consultancy organization, I had always been advocating and

influencing the technical groups to provide engineering solutions to clients

keeping in mind optimisation of resources and energy. It has culminated into

preparation of Sustainable Development Policy Objectives which stresses that

MECON will strive to contribute for the sustainable growth of country’s economy

while simultaneously working on and maintaining social and environmental

sustainability. MECON’s Sustainable Development Policy and Plans were

approved by the Board of Directors on 13th March, 2012 under my

chairmanship.

Impact on social welfare

MECON, under my guidance laid greater importance on Corporate Social

Responsibility activities, which comprises a spectrum of strategies, approaches

and activities, which come with its own benefits asking on commitment. Under

CSR program, many projects/ schemes have been undertaken in rural / naxal

affected region to provide basic facilities in areas like environmental care,

sanitation, drinking water, education, medical & health care, peripheral

development etc

D. SALIENT PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT

Responsible for making breakthrough in receiving order for providing design & consultancy services for transportation of Coal Bed Methane (CBM) for the first time in the country.

Responsible for bagging largest consultancy order for MECON, Delhi from Ministry of Defence.

With concerted marketing efforts, enhanced customer base in oil & gas sector by receiving orders from new clients.

Responsible for receiving few prestigious gas pipeline / city gas assignments against competitive bidding.

. Created the Energy Audit Group in MECON as a part of diversification and

successfully completed several orders.

Made significant contribution in evaluation of many new processes / technologies in Iron & Steel Sector and its suitability under Indian context.

Successfully discharged the additional responsibility of Vigilance Officer of MECON, Delhi, facilitator for implementation of ISO 9001 and promoting usage of Hindi in official work.

Author of over 37 technical papers published in national and international journals and presented in various technical conferences / symposium.
