SHARKS TEACHER AMBASSADOR PROGRAMBecoming a Sharks teacher ambassador means that you have direct contact with the Sharks regarding educational programs, coaching courses, gala days and all other events involving the Sharks and NRL. Teacher ambassadors receive a Sharks polo shirt and an inner sanctum experience with the Sharks players for themselves and their family as a thank you to committing to the Sharks and being a Rugby League advocate throughout the local community.

SPORTING SCHOOLS The NRL is an approved deliverer of the new ASC Sporting Schools program. For details on funding available for schools go to: www.sportingschools.gov.au

GAME ON Game On is a resource that has been designed and mapped to the National Health and Education Curriculum. The book contains resilience learning opportunities which allow both teachers and readers to deliver this content in a confident manner.

The book aims to facilitate a culture of resilience within the Sutherland Shire community. The program will empower, engage and educate students in important social themes such as conflict resolution, anxiety and anger management resilience. The book is designed to be delivered by a teacher within a school environment and is accompanied by a teacher’s resource (video and document) which is emailed to schools upon redemption.

LOVE BITESSharks Have Heart are partnering with Love Bites, a Respectful Relationships Education Program for year 10 students aged 15-17 years. This program aims to provide young people with a safe environment to examine, discuss and explore respectful relationships. The focus is equipping young people with the knowledge needed to have respectful relationships, encourage and develop their skills in critical thinking and assist them in being able to problem solve and communicate effectively.

Love Bites is a flexible model with options to use a full day or multi session delivery approach. The program emphasises the importance of a whole-of-school commitment to respectful relationship education.

SHARKS MAKE BULLYING HISTORY INITIATIVEThe Sharks Make Bullying History initiative is an award-winning program having been awarded First Place - 2018 ClubsNSW Community Awards, Health and Wellbeing category. The program aims to eradicate bullying in the Shire and beyond. By partnering with the Make Bullying History Foundation, We will ensure the program is delivered to every school and local community group in the Sutherland Shire.

The partnership highlights the Sharks’ determination to make bullying a thing of the past. With the Make Bullying History Foundation we will provide tried and proven anti-bullying presentations, seminars and workshops for students and parents in addition to professional development workshops for teachers.

NON-CONTACT JUNIOR PARTICIPATION PROGRAMThe NRL after-school non-contact Junior Participation Program provides children with an opportunity to experience non-contact Rugby League in a fun, friendly and safe environment. The program caters for children of all ability levels with a focus on developing the fundamental skills of the sport. Each session will provide a balance of structured skill development activities and small sided games designed to develop Rugby League specific skills (i.e. pass, catch, kick) and fundamental movement skills (i.e. agility, balance, and coordination). Each child will receive a positive and rewarding sporting experience that will aid their physical, cognitive and social development and help foster a positive association with sport and physical activity.

KATE MULLALYKate is the NRL Game Development Officer for Primary Schools in the Sutherland Shire. Kate has been involved in the game of Rugby League for 5 years

and at a grassroots level. In the Primary School setting, Kate’s roles and responsibilities include organising and running of the various school Rugby League and League Touch gala days throughout the calendar year. A current member of the Cronulla Sharks Women's team, Kate also is responsible for facilitating the NRL Backyard League in-school physical activity program.

PRIMARY in a playing capacity

HUW ELLISHuw has been the Game Development Officer for the NRL in the Cronulla Region for over 10 years and part of the game for 28 years. Throughout this timeHuw has been involved SECONDARY in all facets of the grass roots game whether it be in school or at Junior Rugby League levels. Huw has experience in school-based roles including the set-up of programs, delivery of the PDHPE curriculum education programs which include coaching, refereeing and first aid courses as well as organising gala days and ball in hand clinics.
