WHAT DOES THE EDUCATION REVIEW COVER?This class is not meant to replace self study, only enhance it. The educational review will improve your technical competency in many aspects of tree care. Topics include tree nutrition and fertilization; tree installation and establishment; tree biology; tree, soil, and water relations; cabling, bracing, and lightning protection; tree identification and selection; safety and climbing; pruning, diagnosis, and treatment; construction damage and hazard trees.

HOW CAN I REGISTER FOR THE EXAM?Call the ISA office in Champaign, Illinois at 1-888-472-8733 and request a Florida Registration Packet. They will send you an application form and a Florida tree species list. You can also apply online at www.isa-arbor.com. Your application must be received by ISA in Illinois with the exam fee* (allow 12 business days prior to the exam date).*Separate registration for the exam is required, and NOT included with the course.

* The cost of the exam is $170 for ISA and Chapter members and $280 for non-members.

WHEN AND WHERE CAN I TAKE THE EXAM?The exam can be taken at the beginning of December at the IFAS office in Homestead. Please visit www.floridaisa.org for more information. Exam can also be taken at our MDC testing centers. An additional fee may apply.

WHO CAN TAKE THE COURSE?While the course is designed to prepare professionals in Arboriculture to take the Certified Arborist Exam, anyone with an interest in tree care may enroll.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO BECOME CERTIFIED?The ISA Certification Board requires a candidate to have a minimum of 3 years experience in Arboriculture. Acceptable experience includes pruning, fertilization, installation and establishment, diagnosis and treatment of tree problems, cabling and bracing, climbing or other services that directly relate to Arboriculture. Examples include but are not limited to:• Tree Care Companies• Utility Personnel• Nursery Personnel• Instructors of Arboriculture/Horticulture• Landscape Personnel• Horticultural/Extension Advisors• Municipalities• Consulting Arborists• State Forestry Personnel• Pest Control Advisors/Applicators

The eligibility requirement may also be satisfied with a 2 or 4 year degree in a related field and 2 years practical experience.

WHAT DOES ISA CERTIFICATION DO FOR THE TREE CARE PROFESSIONAL?• Identifies you to your clientele as a professional with thorough knowledge of tree care practices and can be a powerful selling tool for your services.• Provides you with opportunities to continue your professional development and network with other professionals.• Helps employers train personnel and select new employees. Also, many governmental and municipal contracts require bidders to have a Certified Arborist on staff.
