Non-Linear Perspective
A different way to see the world.
1
Two types of thinking
Linear - I call this commodity. Non-Linear OR Original – I call this Rarity/Radical
2
Irony of Life (Example of Linear Thinking)
When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and you're life is just to live your life inside the world.
Try not to bash into the walls too much.
Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money. That's a very limited life.
3
But I’d say…
“F**K the irony. Break the (traditional) rules!”
4
And what after that?
Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact:
5
FOCUS:
If you will carefully READ, UNDERSTAND, EAT, BREATHE the next slide every day and every moment of the rest of your life, It can REALLY change the way you think and the way you live the life.
6
Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use. Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again.”
Spend at-least 5 minutes to read this

Feedback
How is it going so far?
9
But, still wondering?
Why are you saying all these things all of sudden?
What’s wrong with Linear thinking?
10
Linear Thinking
There is nothing wrong with it, but It can JUST make you an ordinary/commodity human being who can ONLY make you and your family happy. (Possibly few other people around you.)
Certainly NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE!
11
So what’s wrong with that?
Why should I worry about A LOT OF other people, who do not have a significant impact on my life?
Why should I worry about them If I’m happy with my life and the way I live?
12
Imagine…
Imagine our life today, if following people would have thought the way commodity people think:
Wright Brothers Karl Benz Alan Turing Martin Cooper (Wireless Communication) Nikola Tesla
13
Few when our generation started…
Steve Jobs Bill Gates and Paul Allen Steve Jobs (For Most revolutionary technology of our
generation.) Larry Page and Sergey Brin Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger
14
Modern…
Mark Zuckerberg Jack Dorsey Jeff Broze Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia Travis Kalanick
15
Future…
Elon Musk
16
What’s common in all these people?
Non-linear and Original Thinking along with a powerful VISION.
They didn’t accept the life the way it was. When they came across the problem, they didn’t accept the way it was, but they started thinking in a different direction, which lead to an innovation and made them BILLIONAIRE, RESPECTFUL, RENOWED, LEGENDARY, and INNOVATOR.
They did not just make a LOT OF MONEY, but they also created a significant difference in the world and life of everyone like you and me.
17
Got it?
Did it make clear to you the difference between Linear and Non-Linear thinking?
Do you still under-estimate the power of Non-Linear/Original thinking? (Hopefully not!)
18
So how to develop an Original thinking?
Become an Uncomfortable in every situation
Do not accept the direct solution
Always look for new possibilities
Try to connect or combine things that weren't connected before.
Always look for what is not explained
19
Don’t copy…
Do not copy/follow these people, but just develop their thinking and you never know what wonder you can create.
20
How can you do that?
Soul Searching
21
Break this rule and be Expert-Generalist
Conventional wisdom says that in order to become world-class, we should only focus on one field.
22
What is Expert-Generalist?
Expert-generalists study widely in many different fields, understand deeper principles that connect those fields, and then apply the principles to their core specialty.
23
Sounds confusing???
Let me make it easy for you.
Do not limit your knowledge to particular field. Identify multiple fields you like, understand them deeply at principle level, and gain expertise. After you understand them very well, connect those principles with your core specialty.
24
Myth…
“Jack of all trades. Master of none.”
25
Faster Learning Transfer
Your success really depends on how faster you transfer your learning from one field to another and tie that with your core specialty.
26
I don’t want to become a billionaire
That’s fine! It’s not about becoming a billionaire or world renowned. Identify how much impact you can create connecting/combining things that weren’t connected before. If it is significant enough, you should start thinking in that direction and keep moving.
27
Regardless…
You should think originally and try to be different; but you should NOT be the same forever.
28
Here are two specific examples, which I am sure every one of you will agree.
If Sachin would have played in the same pattern in every match, would you have watched his hundreds of innings for years?
If A.R. Rehman compose the same music for every film he works for, would you be keen to wait for his next music launch?
29
What’s common?
They don’t think the same way every time else they get obsolete.
30
What If I get failure???
Consider the time/money/resources you spent on doing something new as a “Tuition Fee”
Do retrospect.
31
Make something great!
Not because it will sell. Merely because you can!
All it requires courage to do something different.
32
GoT
Gilly: The Walker came for my baby And Sam…
Meera: But, No one’s killed a White Walker in thousands of years.
Sam: Well, I suppose someone had to be the first.
33
“Be Yourself”
This is not something you should do because you want to prove to someone else, but you have certain responsibilities to yourself.
If you’re committed to yourself, that will boost your self-confidence every day.
