Benefits Ulterion 2805 WT produced a non-wicking linerboard that was gluable when combined with

Ulterion 2805 WT non-wicking medium. Ulterion 542 OPV applied via air knife on the Ulterion 2808 WT treated linerboard on a paper

machine produced a water repellent linerboard. Ulterion 542 OPV coated linerboard is a non-blocking water repellant coating that produced boxes

that held water for one month when combined with Ulterion 2805 WT non-wicking medium. The combined board passed the FBA protocol for recyclability. Objectives of Study Produce a recyclable/repulpable water repellent linerboard on machine to replace curtain coated wax

Overview of Study Ulterion 2805 WT was applied to the wet end in combination with ASA using Ulterion 8058 as the

cationic promoter. Ulterion 542 OPV was diluted to 22% solids and the pH adjusted to 7.86% using AMP and Ulterion XF 280 Defoamer was used to adjust viscosity to 195 cps @ 100°F. The 542 OPV was applied via air knife coater at the end of the paper machine. There were no runnability issues during the trial.
