In 2017, UNLV Continuing Education conducted a needs assessment with the CEOs of local nonprofits to identify skill gaps in the Las Vegas area. They identified fundraising as an area where there is a gap of talent and experience available in the Las Vegas area. These nonprofit leaders emphasized the importance of every member of their staff and board thoroughly understanding fundraising philosophies, ethics, and processes. UNLV’s Nonprofit Fundraising Certificate program was subsequently built with guidance from some the area’s leading fundraising professionals based on their extensive experience. Donor Relations (NP3170)Take a donor-centric and data-driven approach to donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Study donor psychology to better understand why people give.

Earning your Nonprofit Fundraising CertificateTo earn the Nonprofit Fundraising Certificate, candidates must successfully complete four core courses plus 2.4 CEUs of elective courses. Elective selections can be tailored to your interest area.

Core Courses: Responsible Fundraising (NP3130)Learn to build donor and volunteer relationships, execute effective marketing strategies, connect with new and existing supporters through new media, assess your fundraising efforts, advocate for your cause, and set financial priorities.

Infrastructure and Process of Nonprofit Fundraising (NP3163)Examine fundraising processes and systems including database management, wealth intelligence and prospect research, staff and volunteer management, reporting, and general business principles to ensure your program is well taken care of now and into the future.
