NORCROSS ASSESSMENT CENTER HomeFirst Gwinnett Initiative is a system-based concept seeking to bring partner organizations together to provide place- based services that addresses the needs of local homeless populations. The Norcross Assessment Center is the first tangible output from the HomeFirst Gwinnett Initiative’s efforts. United Way of Greater Atlanta in Gwinnett’s Role United Way of Greater Atlanta has helped lead the development of the HomeFirst Gwinnett Initiative by bringing people and resources together to deliver new solutions to answer community needs. HomeFirst Gwinnett aligns with United Way of Greater Atlanta in Gwinnett County’s Child Well-Being priority issue to address Gwinnett’s large population without financial stability that affects suburban homelessness and food insecurities. WHAT IS THE GOAL? Assessment centers will serve as the point of entry into the Coordinated Entry system and focus on vulnerability assessment, eligibility screening and housing placement through direct referrals. WHAT WILL THE ASSESMENT CENTERS INCLUDE? Each assessment center will include three core concepts: 1) Assessment Center; 2) Shelter at an undisclosed affiliated location; and 3) Wrap-Around Services. A COMMUNITY ANSWER Each assessment center is locally designed to address community needs. The particular need in the community, will determine who the centers serve. The wrap-around services to will be defined by the needs of each community and may range from vocational skills to substance abuse recovery and more.
