On behalf of Cindy and the rest of my family, welcome to our 2015 Bull Sale. As 2014 progressed it was most exciting to see the continued increase in cattle prices. If you were to market cattle one week, you received some very rewarding prices only to see them increase again in the coming weeks. We have all waited a lifetime for this achievement which everyone that has remained in the industry has been finally enjoying. That being said with the decrease in cattle numbers and the continued high demand for our product, it is important that we continue to produce a high quality product and maximize our production abilities in a profitable and environmentally responsible fashion.

About the bulls; we are very impressed with the offering we have to present to you this year. With our breeding decisions tied back to the bases of our commercial cowherd, we have not overlooked the basics of calving ease and newborn vigor in our selection of herd sires along with the important traits of sound structure growth and performance. We have stressed a great deal on our herd sire selection that they must present a great abundance of natural muscling and strong carcass characteristics. Also the importance of strong maternal traits must be included.

With all this being said, we have some young herd sires on offer that combine many highly sought after and heritable traits in one package. Our cows are run under real range conditions. They calve in big fields on their own with no video cameras watching over them. Consistency in calving ease for both sire and dam is important to us. No high fluctuations in birth weights are tolerated. Our cows run late into the fall and winter on stock piled grass or swath grazing. Over the years we have seen some so called high powered EPD’s and high maintenance genetics not lasting as long as anticipated. The ones that have remained have done so because of their ability to remain at a high production level in our environment. Our goal has been to offer sons of these genetics that will offer the same type of reliable and profitable predictability to you with confidence.

For those buyers unable to take their bulls home, we will take the bulls back home and maintain them until spring. We would like the bulls moved out in mid April if possible but realize other arrangements may be necessary to accommodate your new purchases. If you have any questions on the bulls, please do not hesitate to give us a call. We will have videos on bulls available on our website. We will also have the information sheet of weights and scrotal available a few days before sale time.

Nordal have consistently put forth and select for bulls with added muscle composition. This effort is certainly evident not only in their popular Limousin bulls but in both their Red Angus and Black Angus bulls. Added muscle means leaner carcasses which means higher yields. In this day and age, the highly sought after larger carcasses are certainly supplied by larger yield animals. This has been the selection practice at Nordal – You the buyer can take advantage of this breeding program and add in the highly heritable Rib Eye Area and increased yield. The sires selected by Nordal have always been selected out of the top of any sale.

In Loving Memory...

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location.

The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on

buyers in ttendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to

the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current

exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder... no by-bidding will be permitted.

Disputes - Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further

bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last

bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

Announcements: All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence

over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close

attention to such disclosures.

Breeder’s Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a

breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in

writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months

after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and

privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen

collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical

reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian

Limousin and Angus associations. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished

to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Health: All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Liabilities: All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale

manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur.

Rights and Obligations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a

contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals

following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights

and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and

conditions of this sale.

Phone, Mail, Wire Bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their

bids and instructions to the sale managers, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids

must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Delivery: We will assist in arranging transportation wherever possible. Each animal

becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

Insurance: Will be available sale day. We strongly recommend that insurance is

purchased for full value.

Errors: All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supercede any written material in

the catalogue.

In 2014 our family lost 2 very dear members.

Doreen Garner Sept 7, 1930 – March 28, 2014 Our Mother Doreen passed away in March. She was the matriarch of our family. Watching over us as we grew up in life and even in her last moments she worried about us getting lunch and taking care of the farm and calves being born. Mom raised 6 kids in a time when the daily routine was gathering and preparing for the daily meals and assisting with the daily farm chores all without the modern conveniences we enjoy today. Mom greatest passion was her family, friends and sports - a die hard Riders fan through and through. Her greatest enjoyment was watching her grand kids grow with their involvement in sports and as they matured their business and lifestyle choices. One of her greatest joys was when she made a quilt and donated it to a Sask. Limousin fundraiser. It sold for a good sum of money and she was proud that she was helping promote what her family was involved in. She

kept in contact with many people she met in all aspects of her life through her many letters and phone calls. Mom liked nothing better than to have a good visit and find out ones full family happenings with whomever she met.

Jim Short August 19, 1952 – July 31, 2014 Jim was our only brother in law, that in itself did not make him special. What made Jim special was his enjoyment of life. Every one that met Jim came away with the feeling of being a special friend to him. He loved to sit back and tell stories from his days growing up in Calgary, life on the road in the construction business or just the happenings only he could find himself getting into.

Jim’s family grew up in the construction business in Saskatchewan. Leaving his childhood home in Calgary, he put down his roots in Saskatchewan marrying our sister Irene. Jim’s love of working in the dirt from a small boy in his sand box led him to start his own company. Along with Irene and their children Jonas and Jennifer, Jim started BLS Asphalt in Regina. They have grown the company to become a broad ranging construction company doing asphalt paving, road building, commercial landscaping, crushing and aggregate supply to much of southern Saskatchewan and beyond. This past November Jim was awarded the Chairman’s Award of Merit and the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Saskatchewan Heavy Construction Association. Irene, Jonas, and Jennifer carry on the family business, plus Jonas and his daughter Isabelle are involved in their own farm and cattle operation.
