• Founded in 1987 in Austin, Texas• Best known for its conference and festivals that celebrate the

convergence of the interactive, film and music industries• Helping creative people achieve their goals

• SXSW 2017 will take place March 10-19, 2017• 2,000+ sessions (Music, Film, Interactive)• Attendees in 2016

• SXSW Music: 30,369 (from 85 countries)• SXSW Interactive: 37,660 (from 83 countries, 1,000+ from Nordics)• SXSW Film: 19,942 (from 71 countries)• SXSWEdu: 7,535 (from 39 countries)

What is Nordics @SXSW 2017

• Promoting Nordics as well as Nordic Film, Music & Tech scene• Special year for Finland: Finland 100 years

• Expo area (20x20 end cap booth) for companies & showcases at Interactive Trade Show (March 12-15)

• Additional activities, events and other experiences (see later slides)• No dedicated event location like in 2016

• Related:• Nordic bands & film screenings, and conference talks with Nordic

themes or by Nordic presenters (see separate slides)• Sauna as a separate project, funding mainly through

sponsorships

Locations for Additional Activities

• As we do not have Austin Rowing Club (Nordic Lighthouse) this year, all events need to find a place for themselves• The locations, dates & times will get confirmed later• Assumption: Most of the activities will happen March 11-15

• EU has an event location (Palm Door at Sixth) which could end up being the home for a number of activities• Very close to Conference Center• From March 11 to March 13• Application process for time slots on-going (application deadline January

Nordic Film Screenings

Sauna

• Separate project funded mostly through sponsorships• Budget, sponsorship prices and benefits to be added later

• Location and dates tbd

• Will increase the visibility of Nordic efforts (the media is really cluttered and overwhelmed during SXSW)

• Sauna (electric and wooden stoves) build inside a minibus

• Additionally tents for changing clothes, towels, swimming suits, cloth check-in

• Personnel needed: Check-in, security, life guards, sauna operations

• SXSW activities in general (conference talks, meetings, additional startup events, Expo, etc) through SXSW Badge (companies need to pay themselves)
