• Wastes energy and money (costing money to heat water even when you’re not using hot water)• Takes up valuable space• Your supply of hot water is limited by the size of the tank• Potentially can cause thousands of dollars in water damage if the tank leaks• Not environmentally friendly (60-65% efficient, landfills get piled up with old, bulky tanks)• Parts are not easily repairable or replaceable• Rust and sediment form inside the tank, along with the risk of legionella bacteria• Recommended maintenance requires you to empty the entire tank• Uses a pilot light, which may ignite and cause an explosion• 8-10 years life expectancy

Compact in design, a Noritz can be installed virtually anywhere. Compared to traditional tank-type water heaters, one of the most obvious dierences is its small size.

The hot water capacity of an electric tankless water heater is typically not enough for an entire house. Most larger sized electric tankless units require 240 V and over 100 Amps. As a reference, the amperage amount required by an electric tankless is about 5 times more than a typical air conditioning system in a home! Because of this, gas tends to be a more cost-eective fuel and heats water about 50% faster than most electric models, yielding a higher ow rate. Also, electric tankless water heaters do not qualify for the ENERGY STAR Program.

Noritz tankless water heaters are extremely durable, lasting longer than traditional tank-type water heaters, and require little maintenance over their lifetime. Noritz wants you to feel condent using our products so we back all residential heaters with one of the best warranties in the industry.

With a Noritz tankless water heater, you’ll save energy and thus, money. Furthermore, you can save about half of the cost of your current water heating bills since there is no re-heating of water as with traditional water heaters.

A Noritz heats water as it passes through the unit, so you will never have to use hot water that has been stored in an old, rusty tank.

A tankless water heater heats water on demand, so that means no storage or shortage of hot water. Imagine the luxury of always having hot showers or lling up a Jacuzzi hot tub and still having an endless supply of hot water for the rest of your needs.

Page 7: Noritz America PowerGuide (April 2009)

Hot water from a traditional tank-type water heater comes from the stored water in the tank. As the hot water supply is used, cold water enters the tank to replace the hot water that was used, reducing the temperature gradually. Once 60-70% of the stored hot water is used, there will be a signicant drop in temperature and can take about an hour to recover.

Although tank water heaters are insulated to some extent, they still experience standby heat loss causing the unit to constantly heat and reheat the stored water even when the hot water

As years pass, traditional tank-type water heaters start to rust and build-up scale inside the tank, which is where your hot water is being stored for use. Also, there is the risk of legionella bacteria formation.

Water heating can account for 14-25% of the energy consumed in your home and is the second largest energy expense in U.S. households. It’s actually one of the least ecient appliances due to standby heat loss. With the constant storing and heating of the water in the tank, sediment begins to build-up and in time will cause a malfunction of the unit. Typically if your tank water heater warranty is near its end or already past, the sediment build-up may be at a point where it’s only a matter of time before the unit

Because of the storage tank, traditional tank-type water heaters are bulky in size. It takes up valuable space and also limits where the unit can be placed. A traditional tank-type water heater takes up to 13ft2 of space. If 1ft2 is worth $200, that’s $2,600 (13ft2 x $200) worth of space you could be saving with a Noritz. Also for some, the unit can also be unsightly.

isn’t being used. Water heating is the second largest energy cost in the home, so heat lost from the tank is wasted energy and can add up quickly.

breaks down and can possibly cause major water damage.

Installing aNoritz Heater

If your tank water heater is old, it is very likely that the ttings and valves are deteriorated and stuck fast due to rust and mineral deposits. Leave the installation headaches to the professionals for your safety and to ensure your warranty remains in eect.
