General Housekeeping

Keep your work area clean and

free of hazards at all times.

Assist other employees in

keeping their work area clean and

hazard free.

Conduct a hazard assessment

prior to attempting tasks.

Report unsafe conditions to

your supervisor.

Lockout/Tag Out Procedures

Lock out/ Tag out

Every piece of equipment that is powered by electricity, air, hydraulics or a combustion engine must be shutdown, power source disengaged and locked out prior to any maintenance work being conducted.

The lock out/ tag out procedures must be followed and a bump test must be conducted.

Failure to do so will result in an automatic three day suspension.

Defective Tools and Equipment

Remove and Tag Out all defective tools and equipment.

Any tools with cracked, broken

or worn out handles need to be

replaced.

Tools with frayed electrical

cords need to have cord replaced

or the tool needs to be replaced.

Leaking hydraulic fittings and

hoses need to be tagged and

replaced asap.

Cracks and broken welds on

forks and buckets need to be

tagged and repaired asap.

PPE Requirements

PPE is required immediately upon passing through the parking lot gate or upon reaching the weigh scales on this site!!!

Alcohol and Drugs

Alcohol and Drugs are prohibited in your body or on

your person while on this site!!

This includes in your vehicle!!

If you are found to have alcohol in your

body or on your person, you will be immediately removed from the site and prohibited from

returning!!

Smoking

Smoking in designated areas only!!

We have two designated smoking areas on site

Outside the mechanic shop

Outside the planer building

It is the smokers responsibility to keep this area clean and free of fire hazards.

Smoking on site is a privilege – NOT A RIGHT!!

Burner/Garbage

Plastics/Chipper

Burner - Chipper

Metals, garbage and oil products are strictly prohibited

from being placed in the burner.

If plastics are found in our chip loads they are shipped back to us

and we have to absorb a huge financial loss.

Disciplinary action will be taken against offenders.

Personal Conduct Standards

NorSask is committed to providing a safe, healthy workplace that promotes a high level of job satisfaction and a respectful work environment. To assist the organization in maintaining an exemplary work environment, we require that all employees and contractors of NorSaskconduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner, at all times.

Unacceptable behaviours shall include, but not be limited to the following:

Causing physical harm to another person, threats or harassing behaviour.

Wilful damage or destruction to employer property, or employee property.

Possession of a weapon while on employer premises, or while conducting business on behalf of the employer.

Disorderly, immoral, or indecent conduct.

Violation of health and safety practices, policies and procedures.

Theft, including physical and intellectual properties.

Dishonest, illegal or improper business activities.

The use, possession, sale, manufacture or dispensation of any illegal drug, alcohol, or paraphernalia associated with either.

The use of alcohol or illicit narcotics on and off employer premises that adversely affects the employee’s work performance, the employee’s own safety or the safety of others at work, or the employer’s reputation in the community.

Failure to report to management the use of any prescribed drug which may alter the employee’s ability to safely perform his/her duties.

Security – Scales

All contractors need to sign in and

sign out at the guard shack.

Contractors working after hours must

have at least two employees scheduled.

The guards will check on employees

on site after hours or on weekends at

hourly intervals.

Incident and Near Miss Reporting

All Incidents and Near Misses Must Be Reported!!!

No matter how small, all incidents

and near misses must be reported.

The smallest injury may still turn into

a lost time injury.

Incident report forms must be filled

out completely.

Spill Reporting

Any spill over 1 litre of

hydraulic oil, motor oil, diesel

fuel, gasoline or engine coolants

must be reported on an MLTC II

Spill Report.

All spills must be cleaned up

immediately and placed in a

container that provides complete

containment of contaminated

materials and placed in the

containment bunker.
