Art Education Testing Requirements Passing scores on Praxis Core (or a qualified exemption) are required for all licensure programs at UNC Charlotte. Students may be admitted to UNC Charlotte without Praxis Core, but must pass this test to progress to upper-level coursework.

Pass Praxis Core (www.ets.org) with an overall score of 468 or earn individual passing scores on Praxis Core Reading - 156, Writing - 162, and Math - 150

Qualify for an exemption with one of the following: • A combined SAT EBRW and Math of 1170 - exempts you from Praxis Core • An ACT composite of 24 - exempts you from Praxis Core • An SAT Math of 570 or ACT Math of 24 - exempts you from Praxis Core Math • An SAT Reading of 600 or ACT English of 24 - exempts you from Praxis Core Reading

North Carolina Community College Transfer Guide School of Architecture (SoA)

The Bachelor of Arts in Architecture is the Pre-Professional, 4-year undergraduate degree in Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The Pre-Professional Degree Program leads to the Professional Degree in the Master of Architecture [4+1.5] or [4+2]. The Professional Degree is required for licensure (www.ncarb.org).

1st Degree/Pre-Professional: Bachelor of Arts in Architecture

2nd Degree/Professional: Master of Architecture 1½-year, Required B.A. in Architecture from UNC Charlotte

2-year, Required B.A. or B.S. in Architecture from NAAB-Accredited Institution Master of Architecture

3½-year, Required Bachelor’s Degree in Other Discipline (Art, Business, Engineering, etc.) Preparing to Study Architecture

There are several courses that are required for the Bachelor of Arts in Architecture degree that can be transferred to UNC Charlotte, such as Pre-Calculus, Intro to Physics & Lab, and Foreign Language (These courses are not prerequisites to apply to the School of Architecture). Art or design-related courses are beneficial for students to improve their creative skills and portfolio. The SoA will not accept transfer credit for architecture courses taken at non NAAB-Accredited Institutions.
