The NC-MSEN Pre-College Program was formed out of a educational need to broaden the pool of underserved/underrepresented students graduating from North Carolina’s high schools prepared to pursue mathematics- and science-based majors and subsequent careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) [NC General Assembly, 1986].

NC-MSEN consists of a central coordinating office located at the University of North Carolina Center for School Leadership Development and six Pre-College sites located on University of North Carolina campuses across the state.
