Historic Investments In Transportation

� The state has invested $2.3 billion in one-time state funding for state highways.

� $879 million of state funding has been invested in county road improvements since 2011.

Accomplishments

� NDDOT maintains more than 8,614 roadway miles of highway. Similar to traveling from Bismarck, ND to Anchorage, Alaska and back. We maintain more lane-miles of roads per maintenance employee than any other state in the nation.

Construction Programs� Completed approximately 200 projects this construction season investing

about $580 million. Making this the 4th largest construction program in state history.

Accomplishments

Investments helped to rebuild and repair the state’s

transportation system:

• Construction of Bypasses

• Four-laning a state highway

• Widening and adding turn lanes

• Building round-abouts

• Enhancing local road systems including city, county and township roads.

• Many other infrastructure upgrades in every region of the state

Local County Road Program

� In 2011 the Local County Road Program was implemented.

• Since then over 400 projects have been constructed and over 3,000 miles of county roadway have been improved.

Working together we recently received a National Award for the program from the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO).

Projects include:

• Dust control

• Gravel stabilization and armor coats

• Resurfacing (gravel and asphalt pavement)

• Reconstruction of roadways

• Bridges

• RoundaboutsRoadway improvement project in Oliver County.

InnovationMeeting today’s challenges with new ideas using innovation and technology.

� High tech maintenance and snow and ice control equipment –Tow Plows.

� E-Construction – using iPads and more technology in the field.

� Developing Transportation Innovation Program (TRIP)

� Three kiosks/motor vehicle registration Self-Service Terminal machines have been placed in Bismarck as part of a year-longpilot project. The terminals are fully automated motor vehicle registration renewal stations that will dispense license plate renewal registration cards and motor vehicle tabs on the spot.

� Travel information map on our website – provides information on road conditions, load restrictions, work zones, road cameras and weather radar. About 4 million page views last year.

� STARS software program update in Motor Vehicle.
