This has been a busy month for the Region. The highlight of the month was the NeDiv Divi-sional Solo Championships. Jim Garry and thesolo guys did an outstanding job putting on anexceptional event. Over a hundred entries weretreated to two great courses and a tasty Barbe-cue on Saturday night.

The annual Kart night at the East GreenbushFunplex was another hit. Dick Stewart and PeteSmith arranged a fun time for all.

Photos from both of these events are else-where in the KO.

The last event of the month was the Golf out-ing at Burden Lake Country Club. Unfortunately, the RE forgot his camera but the weather was

beautiful and the food was good. The 2008 Cham-pions are Tom Campbell, Paul Flood, Jack Hanifanand Tim Stewart. I have discovered the way to wina scramble is to concentrate on not killing the balland keeping your head down. The other importantthing to do is to make sure Tim Stewart is on yourteam. I am sure Tim is tired after carrying us for 9holes but he is an excellent golfer.

One thing I want to mention once again is theNescca.com website. The photos and results fromthe Divisional Solo Championships are posted there.I was surprised that a few of the competitors at theChampionships were not aware of the website. Allof the news from the Division is posted there, if youhave not already done so, check it out.

EDITOR’S REQUESTWhile I am trying to keep your KnockOff current on club events and news from na-tional and other regions, I have very little in the way of news from the membersdirectly. I’d like to change that if we can.

If anyone has an article or news item you would like to see covered in the KO,please forward them to me by the 15th of each month. Articles on club news must goin and will always take precedence. Members have commented in the past that moreof a variety in subject matter would be great.

The 15th deadline is not set in stone but having articles by then makes thingsmuch easier for me to get each issue out for members to read well before the nextmeeting.

So get you fingers limber and type up some stories, old or new and send themmy way. I will attempt to put in as much as possible in each issue. Let’s keep the KOa great publication. Do your part to help! Thanks!

THE GREAT PUMPKIN will NOT be making his 39th Annual visit toNELSON LEDGES this October.

Rumors are becoming facts. Western New York Region has beenadvised that the track will be closing before the scheduled Great PumpkinAffair weekend of October 25-26, 2008. The Region has not beengiven details about immediate or future plans for Nelson Ledges.

Efforts were made to relocate the event, but a viable alternative wasnot found. With time for organizing an event and for planning oneveryone’s part growing short, the WNYR Board of Directors has electedto cancel the October, 2008 event. Efforts will continue toward presentingthe 39th Annual-In-Forty Years Great Pumpkin Affair in 2009.

THANK YOU to all of the PUMPKINEERS who have made THE GREATPUMPKIN AFFAIR such an enjoyable part of club racing, a 38-year-long party.

TO: Pumpkineers, Workers, Racers and Friends of the Great Pumpkin

The Western New York Region regretfully cancelled this year’s Great Pumpkin Affairafter circumstances beyond the region’s control developed.

The cancellation, hopefully for just this year, impacts many of us, especially as itoccurs rather late in the season. Many of our plans must be changed.

Racers lose hours of track time. There is one less opportunity to meet license requirements

NYSRRC and the KRYDERSERIES have each lost two points opportunities and willend their seasons several weeks earlier that planned.

The NESCCA ENDURO SERIES has become a four event series. With two eventsalready run at Pocono, the New England event at New Hampshire in a few weeksand the Glen event in October remain.

Workers lose the opportunity to stand out in the rain and sleet and snow.

For many, a tradition has been interrupted.

We regret the inconvenience. Plan Accordingly
