Northern Saskatchewan Mineral Exploration
Highlights
February 2019 Northern Saskatchewan is a dynamic region with great potential for mineral
exploration. The province is consistently ranked as a top region in the world for
mineral investment from the Fraser Institute annual survey of mining compa-
nies. Our uranium deposits have long been known as among the richest in the
world, and new discoveries are being made in gold, base metals, and other
commodities. The report includes information on many of these
exploration projects.
We feature public information gleaned from company web sites and news
releases into one convenient package. The Northern Saskatchewan Mineral
Exploration Highlights is published each month and is circulated to mining and
exploration companies, northern communities, service companies, and
government.

BASE METALS ( VMS ) in the CREIGHTON SASKATCHEWAN CAMP
This month, we are taking a more detailed look at a very interesting section of the northern Saskatchewan
mineral exploration map – that which we call the Creighton Camp. We focus primarily on base metals in this
area west of Creighton.
There are some exciting deposits in this area which we discuss. Also, initiatives by the governments of Canada
and Saskatchewan are adding useful data and supporting drilling. The initiatives are the Targeted Mineral
Exploration Initiative (TMEI), and Geophysical Data release.
We also provide what is known to date of Hudbay’s plans which may have impact on the development of
properties. However, there is important infrastructure and support available in Creighton/Flin Flon that could
support developments regardless of Hudbay’s plans. Namely the railhead, mining and exploration services,
and experienced work force.
TARGETED MINERAL EXPLORATION INCENTIVE ( TMEI ) SASKATCHEWAN
The TMEI is part of the Mineral Development Strategy encouraging exploration for base metals, precious
metals and diamonds in an area of high potential in Saskatchewan. Other components of the strategy include
the provision of new airborne geophysical data and complementary ground-based geoscience
investigations. The TMEI focuses specifically on drilling in order to support new discoveries with a 25% rebate
( up to $50,000 per year ) to eligible companies.
GEOPHYSICAL DATA RELEASE 2018
Gravity Gradient, Electromagnetic and Aeromagnetic Data over sections of Saskatchewan & Manitoba were
flown in the summer of 2018. The Gravity Gradient and associated Aeromagnetic surveys were funded by the
NRCAN Targeted Geoscience Initiative. The Electromagnetic ( EM ) and associated Aeromagnetic surveys were
funded by the Government of Saskatchewan. The data from these surveys will be used in a cooperative
project including the Geological Survey of Canada, the Saskatchewan Geological Survey and the Manitoba
Geological Survey and will be integrated with existing geophysical data. The Open Files are available on the
NRCAN website.

EXPLORATION ACTIVITY IN CREIGHTON CAMP, SASKATCHEWAN
Foran Mining Corporation own 100% of the McIlvenna Bay Deposit subject to a 1% NSR held by Cameco
Corporation and BHP Billiton with a $1,000,000 buyout. Drilling in November 2018 intersected 39m of 3.13%
CuEq in the heart of the deposit. The summer resource definition drilling program ( 2018 ) has demonstrated
thick zones of contiguous mineralization contained within the deposit over multiple zones including massive
to semi-massive zinc-rich sulphide in Zone 2, the UWZ and Lens 3 and stockwork-style copper-zinc-rich
sulphide mineralization in the underlying CSZ.
The McIlvenna Bay Deposit sits 65 km west of Flin Flon and is part of the world class Flin Flon Greenstone Belt
extending from Snow Lake MB to Foran’s ground, some 225 km. The belt is host to 29 past and present
producing mines including Hudbay’s 777 and Lalor operations.
In Dec 2017 Foran announced a Technical Services Agreement with Glencore Canada Corp whereby Glencore
has agreed to provide technical expertise and advice in order to advance the McIlvenna Bay deposit to
feasibility in exchange for an off-take agreement on the metals and minerals produced.
Engineering and metallurgical studies are underway and the project is on-track to deliver a feasibility study in
H2 2019.
Foran Mining Corporation also owns the Bigstone Property 85 km west of Flin Flon. The historic resource is
a vertically oriented, flattened, cylindrical shaped body, drill tested between 100 and 700m depth. Assays of
2.5% Cu over 58.0m ( including 3.8% Cu over 15.3m ) and 15.1% Zn and 778 g/t Ag over 4.8m ( including
32.4% Zn and 2,322 g/t Ag over 1.6m ) have been drilled.
Foran also holds the Hanson and Balsam Projects contiguous to McIlvenna Bay.
Copper Reef Mining Corporation has an underlying royalty of $0.75 / t ( Net tonnage Royalty ) from some of
the claims on the McIlvenna Bay Deposit and a 2% NSR on Foran’s two million ton Bigstone Copper Deposit
and the Balsam Deposit.
Canadian Platinum Corp holds the Craig Lake property on the border with Manitoba within 1.7 km of the
former producing Westarm Mine operated by HBM&S from 1978-1985. At Westarm were 3.82% Cu, 1.5% Zn,
17.4 g/t Ag and 1.37 g/t Au. Canadian Platinum flew a VTEM survey, conducted MMI ( mobile metal ion )
sampling and drilled 4 test holes including a borehole pulse EM survey ( Crone ). The MMI sampling returned
anomalous Cu, Zn, Ag, Au and Ni values.
Following up on the borehole pulse EM results, a deep penetrating time domain electromagnetic ground
survey (“DPEM”) was carried out delineating 2 large DPEM targets, 1 target within 500m of the Westarm
Mine. Plans are to drill test the 2 anomalies in 2019.

EXPLORATION ACTIVITY IN CREIGHTON CAMP, SASKATCHEWAN
Eagle Plains Resources Ltd acquired by staking the Schotts Lake Cu-Zn VMS Deposit 40 km NW of Flin Flon.
Mineralization consists of semi-massive to massive pyrrhotite and pyrite with associated chalcopyrite and
sphalerite. The mineralization has an average thickness of 20.4m. The deepest mineralized intercept is at a
vertical depth of 266m with mineralization open to depth. Drill intercepts up to 2.07% Cu over 1.7m and
5.48% Zn over 7.6m were obtained in historical drilling.
Searchlight Resources Inc has acquired 51% of the Bootleg lake gold and VMS Property located 5 km SW of
Flin Flon. The property includes the past-producing NewCor and Rio gold mines. At both targets known
workings had reached depths of 120-130m during mining in the 1940’s and 1980’s. Drilling by Searchlight
( Canyon Copper ) announced in May 2018 include results of 5.24 g/t Au over 4.0m ( including 12.24 g/t Au
over 0.5m ) , 2.09 g/t Au over 19.0m ( including 3.23 g/t Au over 8.0m ) and 2.45 g/t Au over 5.0m ( including
3.84 g/t Au over 2.0 m ).
At Saskoba Lake 30 km south of Creighton/Flin Flon, the Dunn/Reibin partnership holds >4000 ha, part of
which was flown by the recent VTEM, Gravity and Mag surveys resulting in several un-drilled targets being
identified. Claims are proximal to and on-trend with the former Coronation Mine which produced 1,282,465 t
@ 4.25% Cu. A historic ddh on the partner’s property returned 20m of stringer sulphides with assays to 2.1%
Cu, 0.3% Zn, and 10 g/t Ag. The partners also completed a mobile metal ion ( MMI ) recon sampling program
which returned anomalous Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Ag and Au.
Other Companies with claims in the Creighton Camp include but are not limited to BEC International,
Diamond Projects Inc, Gem Oil Inc, Hudbay Minerals Inc, Purepoint Uranium Group Inc, Ray Dor Resources,
SGO Mining Inc and Taiga Gold Corp, as well as individual prospectors.
Hudbay Minerals Inc
With the closure of the Reed Lake Mine in 2018 and the planned shutdown of the 777 Mine by HudBay in
2021, the feed to the Flin Flon Metallurgical Complex, which includes the mill and zinc plant, will be reduced
from 200,000 tonnes of concentrate per year to 90,000 tonnes, all of which will come from HudBay’s Lalor
Mine, expected to operate into 2027. Ore from Lalor is crushed at Chisel North.
The capacity at the Stall Mill concentrator near Snow Lake is being increased to 4500 tpd. In addition Hudbay
purchased the New Britannia Mill near Snow Lake, with the potential to process 1500 tpd of copper-gold ore
from Lalor. The biggest hope for maintaining current levels of feed to the zinc plant is the Pen Deposit located
7 km from Lalor. This would be about the same size as the Reed Lake Mine.
HudBay has approved a $10 million exploration budget for northern Manitoba.
