In November Mo Bros take action by changing their appearance through the growth of a new moustache for the 30 days of Movember, and in doing so become walking, talking billboards for men’s health. But it’s not just for bros … Mo Sistas sign up and commit to supporting the men in their lives while helping to promote men’s health at home, in the workplace and within their community.

MOVEMBER ON CAMPUSNothing brings strict teachers, lovely librarians, class clowns, and everyone on campus together like Movember. Rallying around the moustache is a fantastic way to unite a university or school. The level of education doesn’t matter when it comes to having fun while raising funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate and testicular cancer.

GET TALKING Start a conversation about the importance of men’s health by working it into a class project or

1. BEPLANMaak ’n paar stukkies lap bymekaar. (Dit sal help as die lapstukkies by mekaar

Soos jy ’n skoolboek sou oortrek. Laat dit droog word.

3. HOEK-HAKIESGebruik karton waarvan jy hou. Jy kan dit met lap oor-trek, of jy kan dit verf. Of, soos in die voorbeeld, nét so gebruik. Knip ’n reep af, so tussen 1cm en 2cm breed.

Verander jou ou dagboeke in pragtige fotorame.

5. KLAAR!

Many children learn from the examples of their parents to gather and consume and collect. In the process they end up being ungrateful for what they have, always searching for more and more! (See the video: “Children see, children do” http://youtu.be/QHlQg5Y2w18)

As parents we have to be careful about the examples we set for our children. A personal life of daily gratitude can have a great change in attitude. If followed by our children it can change the world.

Like with many things in life: practice makes perfect! So practicing to be grateful will give you a jump-start and allow the gratitude to fill your whole being. Special equipment isn’t necessary for practicing gratitude — the real

work goes on in your head and heart!

So hear are 5 simple steps to cultivate a life of gratitude, that you and your children can practice together:1. Notice your day-to-day world from a point of gratitude and be amazed at all the goodness we take for granted. 2. Keep a gratitude journal. All it requires is one or more things you are grateful for on a daily basis (notebook, phone or computer)3. When you find yourself in a bad situation ask: What can I learn? When I look back on this, without emotion, what will I be grateful for?4. Give at least one compliment daily. It can be to a person or it can be asking someone to

share your appreciation of something else.5. Become involved in a cause that is important to you. Donate money or time or talent. By joining in, you’ll gain greater appreciation for the organization, and it will appreciate you more, too.

May you make gratitude a priority of life and live it by example, so that it cultivates a generation rooted in gratitude.

Dit maak nie saak hóé mal jy oor jou drafroete is of hoe lekker die musiek op jou gunsteling oefen-DVD is nie – jy sal beslis verveeld raak as jy ná elf maande steeds dieselfde (gaap!) roetine volg …

MAAK ’N PLANHou dinge interessant.

MAAK DIT SOSIAALDie tyd glip altyd vinniger verby as jy saam met vriende stap of oefen.

Of doen strekoefeninge in jou tuin. As dit koud is

Probeer gerus iets soos dans, bergklim of swem.

(My man sal byvoorbeeld sê: “Dáái lyk vir my na ’n paar vinnige tekkies!”)

Our Carols by Candle light evening.

Dit was werklik ‘n wonderlike kamp waar ons baie kon leer.

We all know just where to find those last few cents. Under the couch, in the car or in our pockets, and very often, they just lay around gathering dust. Labiance Primary, therefore decided to collect as much coins as they could and the money collected was donated to the SPCA. We all love and care about animals, and we are proud to have put our Labbies hearts (and coins) together to make difference!

Did you say cents?

We handed over a cheque to the SPCA for the amount of

R1 360,00

We at Labiance Primary have always prided ourselves in our strong Christian values, and when we recently took our staff Christmas photo, we once again, realised how truly blessed we are. We have had a year with many challenges and changes, but looking back, we have come this far, by the mercy and blessings of our Heavenly

Father. Labiance continues to blossom and shine for our community and we, as teachers have been blessed to keep our motto high: “Labiance Learners First”. Our hard work and dedication paid off, and we would like to thank all our learners and parents for helping us make 2014 a memorable year.

Christmas comes early for Labiance!

CricketOn Sunday, 26 October, BTHS XI took on the WP U17 Cricket team at the BTHS Oval. This match served as a warm up match for the U17 team before their National Cricket week in Rustenberg in December this year. The WP U17 team won the toss and elected to field first. After losing Joshua Carelse early, BTHS achieved a good partnership between captain, Shane Hull (18), and opener, Keanin Cupido (24), before both were caught out in the outfield. BTHS continued to bat slowly and finally ended the innings at 142/7 in their allotted

45 overs. Hatties cricket Old Boy, Clement Abrahams, achieved a top score of 54 runs. The WP U17 showed their quality with the bat as their top four dominated the Hattie bowlers with regular boundaries and finally scored 143 runs in 29 overs with Abongile Ranyana (WCSS) attaining a top score of 50 runs. Ncedo Tywaku also chipped in with a solid 37 runs to steer the visitors to victory. The two teams thoroughly enjoyed the encounter. This was another good sporting experience for our Hattie sportsmen.

Parents dance for fundsOn the 28th of October 2014, BTHS hosted their first weekly hip-hop class for adults in the school’s gymnasium. The initiative was created to raise funds to buy djembe drums for the school to start an African Drumming Band. The parents have shown their support by shaking their bodies on the dance floor to lose some kilos. One of the staff members at the school, Mrs. Lunelle Van

Niekerk, was the class instructor and was assisted by the school’s hip-hop team. Together, the staff, parents and learners are working hard to ensure increased cultural opportunities for the students at BTHS. Classes take place every Wednesday from 17:15-18:15 and are open to everyone; R20 gets you a spot on the dance floor!

Santa ShoeboxSeksieleiers by Hoërskool Bellville doen jaarlikse ‘n liefdadigheidsprojek. Hierdie jaar in totaal 105 bokse ingesamel.
