I love it when subscribers approach me in the lobby and say they subscribe to Northlight because the work is so varied and surprising. Our mission has a breadth of vision, which allows for a wide scope of work. Whether it’s politics and human rights like this season’s Woody Sez, or a religious and race-based piece like The Whipping Man, Northlight has always given our subscribers five different reasons to be surprised, engaged and entertained every season.

Surely George Wendt and Tim Kazurinsky couldn’t be a more entertaining addition to any season, and Bruce Graham (The Outgoing Tide) returns with a new piece that articulates the challenges of companionship and romance in the Baby Boomer generation. Stones in His Pockets brings the world to us on several levels, as we collaborate with three Artistic Directors (J.R. Sullivan of New York’s Pearl Theatre and David Ivers and Brian Vaughn of the Utah Shakespeare Festival) in an Irish play filled with humor and charm. As always, we choose our work with you foremost in mind. Join us, won’t you?

The legendary Woody Guthrie defined an american era of social consciousness and political expression with songs like “This Land is Your Land” and “The Ballad of Tom Joad.” This musical portrait, featuring Woody’s stirring ballads and joyous anthems, celebrates the colorful life and rich musical legacy of america’s great folk troubadour.
