WE GATHER IN GOD’S NAME
PRELUDE Elder Henry Jones
*CALL TO WORSHIP Lindell Murray My spirit answers, Here I am, Lord. Speak to me anew. God breathes on us the Holy Spirit, knitting many members into one body, the body of Christ. Together we answer, Here we are Lord. Come, Holy Spirit. God has yet more vision for the people. Who will work for God to extend God's kingdom into our hurting world? Here we are Lord. Empower us for your work. Then let us gather, old and young, small and great, to dream God's dreams, receive God's power, and do God's deeds. Here we are Lord. Shine the light of your love on us. Kindle your Spirit within us. Work your redeeming will in us, that all the world may be one through the power of your love.
*OPENING HYMN “All Creatures of Our God and King” No.455 Congregation

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION Xavier Scott Lord, you call, but we do not always recognize your voice. Sometimes we don’t listen carefully. Sometimes we’re caught off guard. Lord, you call, but we haven’t always taught others to hear you. Sometimes we stand in the way, allowing our voice to ring out over yours. Lord, you call, but we don’t always believe our ears. Sometimes we believe we know better. Sometimes we think you can’t possibly be calling us, or her, or him. Forgive us, Lord, our unpracticed listening, our closed ears. Help us to hear. Amen.
*WORDS OF ASSURANCE Christopher Riviears
In front of us, behind us, to our right, to our left: look! God is there! In our past, beside us today, waiting in the future: look! God is there! in the shadows, in the light: look! God is there! From the top of the mountains, to the bottom of the seas; in the morning, in the evening, in every moment: God is with us! Thanks be to God. Amen.
*THE RESPONSE Gloria Patri No. 579 Congregation
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

WE RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Christopher Riviears
I believe in truth as a living Reality, not captured in theory or a creed, but revealed to those who love; the truth of Jesus, the Spirit of truth, the truth of God. Because I believe I trust, not blindly but open eyed and bold as a child climbing into a mother’s lap; the truth of Jesus, the Spirit of truth, the truth of God. Because I believe I serve, not as a slave that serves a tyrant but like farmers reaping a harvest; the truth of Jesus, the Spirit of truth, the truth of God. Amen
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
