Spotlight on Sports: Super Bowl

Edition

By: Kate Seymour Time for Spotlight on Sports! This month, I will be featuring the Super Bowl LIII, or Super Bowl 53. This Super Bowl happened on February 3rd, 2019. This was against the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. Atlanta was very proud to host Super Bowl LIII! It was a good game, and the Patriots completely crushed the Rams. The scoreboard was 13 to 3 at the end of the game as I'm almost completely sure that everyone watched this. The game was tough as in the first quarter nobody scored any points. Did you know that in all the Patriots Super Bowl appearances, thy have never scored any points in the first quarter of the game?

There was also another "sporting event" going on a Saturday before the Super Bowl. Something much cuter than the Super Bowl. By an anonymous request, I was asked to feature the Puppy Bowl in my article this month. This was hosted by the Austin Humane Society and was hosted in Austin, Texas, obviously. The bowl was created to promote puppy adoption. If you are interested in adopting, you can reach our local Humane Society, you can contact them at: www.atlantahumane.org. Fun Facts;)

• The trophy is formally called the Vince Lombardi trophy which was named after a former Green Bay Packer coach. It is named after him because he led the team to victory the first 2 Super Bowls.

• 24% of people planned to attend a Super Bowl Party (was that you?)

• This is the 4th time the Rams have been in the Super Bowl.

• The Patriots are making their 9th Super Bowl appearance.
