UNI Men’s Glee Club Concert Thursday, April 11th @ 7:00pm - FREE!
The UNI Men's Glee Club will be offering a FREE concert at Norwalk High School's Performing Arts Center on Thursday, April 11th at 7:00pm. The UNI Men's Glee Club of nearly 100 performers has a long history of exci ng performances and sell‐out crowds and we are EXTREMELY fortunate to be chosen as a performance venue on their Spring Tour. More informa on about the ensemble can be found on their link: h p://www.unigleeclub.com/about.phtml
HOMESTAYS NEEDED! It is customary on college tours such as these to host the performers for the overnight following the concert. This is a GREAT opportunity to display the generosity and hospitality of the Norwalk community. You may pass this email along to other community members who may be interested in a ending the concert and being a homestay. Thanks! Please click on the link below to offer your home for this opportunity. h ps://docs.google.com/a/norwalk.k12.ia.us/forms/d/18Xy0DK9Uo2pFF6CeR0vHGvzy9SGcnOu6udtNHe43LLs/viewform A message from their trip coordinator: "We would like at minimum 2 guys in a house. Maximum can be determined by the families. Guest beds, air ma resses, and the floor are acceptable, as long as they have a pillow and blanket! We would ask for a cold breakfast (cereal, pop tarts, etc.) in the morning ‐ nothing special! We are most likely going to rise early on Friday morning and would need a ride from the host families to our mee ng place (most likely the church.) The me of departure in the morning will depend on the Capitol, however, we are an cipa ng around 8‐9am. Showers are a must, and towels will need to be supplied.
I can personally promise that the level of respect these men show to your facili es and families will be unprecedented. We are extremely grateful for your hospitality, and will not disappoint! " Please email Gerard Krupke if you have any ques ons at [email protected]

Help Wanted I am looking for volunteers who are willing to help in the church office with simple, easy things. Because I am only here for a few hours each day, many items do not get the attention they deserve. I would like to have several people I could call on for assistance. For example, a “people person” who could help with the coordination of Meals on Wheels; someone (or several) who can do some data entry, or someone who would like to help update the Web page for the church. These are just a few examples; I could go on and on, as I tend to do, but I think you get the picture. Please contact me at the church, if you are interested in helping in whatever way you can.
Thank you, Cathie Graves, Ministerial Assistant
Thank You Thank you so much for all the thoughts and prayers, and cards. What a blessing to have a great church family.
Gerry Rinard
I want to say “THANK YOU” to you all for the remembrances that were bestowed upon me during my illness and surgery. I received many cards, phone calls, e-mails and offers of transportation. I really enjoy the beautiful shawl that I received from the Prayer Shawl Group. I received homemade vegetable beef soup that was delicious. Thank you to Dayna for being there for me. I am so blessed to be a member of NCC. Thank you all for the prayers. Love you all.
Ann McCarter
Thank you at NCC for donating glasses for the mission Living Faith Lutheran will be making to Kenya. In total, 219 pairs of glasses will be donated to MOST Ministries and from there will make their way to Kenya. While the mission trip something our church is doing, the mission to demonstrate the love of Christ belongs to us all. We truly appreciate your help.
Respectfully,
Douglas Darnell
From Dayna…
Easter day is done but we continue. Here are some thoughts from an author I love.
I believe that although the two disciples did not recognize Jesus on the road to Emmaus, Jesus recognized them, that he saw them as if they were the only two people in the world. And I believe that the reason why the resurrection is more than just an extraordinary event that took place some two thousand years ago and then was over and done with is that, even as I speak these words and you listen to them, he also sees each of us like that. In this dark world where you and I see so little because of our unrecognizing eyes, he, whose eye is on the sparrow, sees each one of us as the child in red. And I believe that because he sees us, not even in the darkness of death are we lost to him or lost to each other. I believe that whether we recognize him or not, or believe in him or not, or even know his name, again and again he comes and walks a little way with us along whatever road we're following. And I believe that through something that happens to us, or something we see, or somebody we know - who can ever guess how or when or where? - he offers us, the way he did at Emmaus, the bread of life, offers us a new hope, a new vision of light that not even the dark world can overcome.
That is the word that on Easter Sunday is sounded forth on silver trumpets. And when Easter is past and the silver trumpets have faded away to hardly more than a distant echo, that is the word that is whispered to us like a secret in the dark, the saving and holy word that flickers among us like a red dress in a gray world.
An excerpt from Frederick Buechner’s Easter Sunday sermon entitled “The Secret in the Dark” first published in The Longing for Home and again in Secrets in the Dark.

Our Path Together Update… Exciting times abound in the Upper Midwest Region! “Our Path Together” is off to an amazing start!! We are only $75,000 away from making sure that all campers are able to be in new cabins in 2014. We already have over $500,000 committed to this project for Phase One. We have raised enough money for construction of two cabins and a new pool. We are well on our way to raising enough money to be able to build a third cabin this summer. Our current cabins can accommodate 80 people. With the construction of the third cabin this summer, we would be able to accommodate 84+ people – meaning all campers would be in new cabins in 2014. If you would like to help us reach this goal, please make sure your gifts are turned in the Christian Conference Center by APRIL 15th.
Meeting for Construction Volunteers
Now what would help is for you to help us recruit volunteers to help us with the Blitz build over Memorial Weekend. We need at least some basic information or as much as you can offer. In order to keep things organized we need people to go to the website and click the memorial weekend button and fill out the form. Our volunteer coordinator will then make contact and answer other questions that you have. http://www.uppermidwestcc.org/2013/03/04/our-path-together-volunteer/ We are particularly looking for crew leaders (Some one with some construction skills and can lead of team of 5 other volunteers). We are having a leader training and information meeting on April 27th at the conference center for all those interested. This meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m.
30 & 130 & 130 & 1 30 & 1 will meet Saturday, April 6th at 6:00 p.m. for an evening of games and fellowship. You may want to go to the Spaghetti Dinner first and them come to the church for the evening. We welcome everyone who wants to come because we always have plenty of fellowship to go around!
Camp Registrations Camp registrations are due in the office by April 14th. If you are registering on-line, please let us know so that we may include your child in our total payment.
Community Spaghetti Supper
Saturday, April 6, 6:00 – 7:30 PM $7.00 per person – Advance Ticket Sales Only!
Tickets are now available for a community spaghetti supper sponsored by the Norwalk Ministerial Association. The meal will be held at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk and entertainment will be provided by music students from Norwalk High School. Prayer of Blessing for the Newly Baptized Thank you God, for your empowering love, freely given to each and all; help us to welcome these, now baptized, into the circle of love in Christ’s church. We rejoice that they have chosen to publicly confess their faith and in obedience enter the waters of baptism. We give thanks for their unique gifts for ministry. Sustain and strengthen them as they face life’s various trials. Lead us to be a welcoming and nurturing community as we share this journey of discipleship. Amen.
