NORWOOD NEWS - 19th December 2018 There are many people I wish to thank for the partnership we have formed during my time here. Thank you to our families for the support that our students receive at home. The interest that you show in what your children are learning reinforces for them the messages we give them here at school about how important their learning is. We cannot do the learning for them, but together we can encourage and support them in their efforts. Thank you to our School Association and volunteer helpers who work tirelessly to support our school and benefit our students. Our school is greatly enriched by your support and generosity. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with such a committed, dedicated staff team. They work above and beyond my grandest hopes, consistently doing whatever it takes to help our school to be the wonderful place it is. To those students, families and staff who are leaving us tomorrow, you leave us with our thanks for your contributions to our school, and our very best wishes for wherever your future takes you. I look forward to hearing about the many achievements of Norwood students, staff and the parent community next year and beyond. From Our Principal…. Staffing update This is the time of year when we must say farewell to some members of our staff. I thank Mr Nigel Donachie, who has taken PE and Ms Caitlyn McCarthy who has taken drama classes these past 2 terms, for their support of our students and their learning. Mrs Peta Terry, who has taught our Prep/1 class and taken on other roles for us this year is also leaving and I thank her for her hard work and dedication in helping our students work towards a brighter future. I also thank Ms Kristina Tachtsis, our Speech and Language Pathologist, for her hard work in supporting our students, and wish her all the best for the future. Mrs Carol Crawford, who has been a long-standing and highly valued Teacher’s Assistant for 15 years at our school is retiring at the end of the year. Mrs Ann Howard who has been our highly skilled and dedicated School Business Manager for 26 years is also retiring at the end of the year. I thank them for their enormous contributions to our school, confident that our school has been enriched by their skill, hard work and dedication. I am sure that you will join with me in wishing them all the very best for the future, wherever and whatever that holds for them. I welcome Mr Duncan Walker (AST), Sarah Stenton (Acting AST) and Holly Flaherty (Speech Pathologist), who will be joining the Norwood Primary School team next year. We welcome back to classroom teaching Lauren Holt and Sarah Green, returning from maternity leave. Please see the 2019 Teaching Team over the page. Thank you This is my final newsletter as principal of this wonderful school. As you would be aware from a previous newsletter, I have been elected President of the Tasmanian Principals Association, a position I am honoured to have been chosen for. I leave here with Norwood Primary School very firmly in my heart. NORWOOD NEWS - 19th December 2018

There are many people I wish to thank for the partnership

we have formed during my time here.

Thank you to our families for the support that our

students receive at home. The interest that you show in

what your children are learning reinforces for them the

messages we give them here at school about how

important their learning is. We cannot do the learning for

them, but together we can encourage and support them in

their efforts.

Thank you to our School Association and volunteer

helpers who work tirelessly to support our school and

benefit our students. Our school is greatly enriched by

your support and generosity.

It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with such a

committed, dedicated staff team. They work above and

beyond my grandest hopes, consistently doing whatever it

takes to help our school to be the wonderful place it is.

To those students, families and staff who are leaving us

tomorrow, you leave us with our thanks for your

contributions to our school, and our very best wishes for

wherever your future takes you.

I look forward to hearing about the many achievements of

Norwood students, staff and the parent community next

year and beyond.

From Our Principal….

Staffing update

This is the time of year when we must say farewell to

some members of our staff. I thank Mr Nigel Donachie,

who has taken PE and Ms Caitlyn McCarthy who has taken

drama classes these past 2 terms, for their support of our

students and their learning. Mrs Peta Terry, who has

taught our Prep/1 class and taken on other roles for us

this year is also leaving and I thank her for her hard work

and dedication in helping our students work towards a

brighter future. I also thank Ms Kristina Tachtsis, our

Speech and Language Pathologist, for her hard work in

supporting our students, and wish her all the best for the

future. Mrs Carol Crawford, who has been a long-standing

and highly valued Teacher’s Assistant for 15 years at our

school is retiring at the end of the year. Mrs Ann Howard

who has been our highly skilled and dedicated School

Business Manager for 26 years is also retiring at the end of

the year. I thank them for their enormous contributions to

our school, confident that our school has been enriched

by their skill, hard work and dedication. I am sure that

you will join with me in wishing them all the very best for

the future, wherever and whatever that holds for them.

I welcome Mr Duncan Walker (AST), Sarah Stenton

(Acting AST) and Holly Flaherty (Speech Pathologist), who

will be joining the Norwood Primary School team next

year. We welcome back to classroom teaching Lauren

Holt and Sarah Green, returning from maternity leave.

Please see the 2019 Teaching Team over the page.

Thank you

This is my final newsletter as principal of this wonderful

School very firmly in my heart. As I look back over my
