A little history…

Cloyd Dairy entered an agreement with Orange

County in 1964 to establish a portion of the land as a

public landfill.

and allow anyone to come in to dump household waste.

Sanctioned Dumping?While Orange County did allow some of this from 1964-1980, when one pit would fill, another would be dug. And Another… And it wasn’t in only designated areas.

Although the arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury, selenium, iron, manganese, phtalates, benzene, and other volatile compounds are below the surface, wildlife is prevalent.

In 2008, the county decided that this land was not appropriate for OCPS.

If allowed…As soon as ground is broken, there is a chance that all of our neighborhood can be affected.

Many of the compound found in this ground are considered carcinogens and can cause pulmonary, liver, and kidney diseases.

Simply digging up the ground can cause these chemicals to be released from the ground and be inhaled.

If a pocket is hit, chemicals can be rapidly released into the surrounding water table.
